There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Who is the developer? Why the anonymity? Do you have any partnerships with MOOC's or anyone in the education sphere? How will this coin get to students in a fair way?

I like the idea, but I feel like for this to really impact education (and students specifically) the team may need to consider these questions.

Instead of only faucets, maybe the "foundation" disperses coins to students for scholarships, etc.?

Please make sure you have plenty nodes on launch to prevent issues like what happened with GPUCoin, also github source and wallets password protected up before launch.

No premine, no IPO, hopefully some interest in future in the education sector looks to be good coin. May had been better if you went POS after blocks end but no matter

No ports, no pools, no wallets, no contact. I assume the calendars saying this is coming out right now are incorrect.

We have passed our stated launch time of 12pm EST March 3.  Embarrassed  Pity we have not launched due to clouds (of the AWS variety).

We can already see the price dropping at none of the exchanges we have never been listed on.

Stay calm. Fair launch is still in play. We want to launch correctly, and with that in mind we thank you for your patience.

The next launch window of opportunity will be on March 11th 10am EST.

In the meantime, please join our main forum at: forum.educoin.cc and discuss just how much pizza college students can buy with EduCoin!  Grin

So EDU has nothing to do with education apart from the name?  There's no new proof-of-work developed to reward education? (such allowing people to solve simple maths problems or submit exam papers marked by a network of qualified teachers or something).  It's just the name EDU, that's all this coin has, it's just another clone coin with no new development.

I'm a student, most students don't have a bunch of graphics card , but if it was for something like this https://www.computingforgood.org/ , I'd throw my crappy computer at it for ya, and I'm sure more people would too.
