i just updated my wallet. it shows i have 11460 transactions. but no coins. the blockchain is 37% done. shouldnt i have seen at least one coin by now? do i need to put a conf file in the zeitcoin dir?

Nope , the balance will not be correct until it is fully synced.   
After it is fully synced.
If your amount of Zeitcoins is off, click on Help, click on Debug Window, and click Console Tab, type in repairwallet and hit enter.

When mining through node-stratum-server I get error messages saying the blocks generated are invalid.

Both the pool wallet and my dekstop wallet are updated.

Any ideas ?

It generates coins only by interest. (Let's call it "green mining").

The word I'm getting is that there is likely to be a MAJOR clamp-down on exchanges, starting very soon - in the wake of the Paycoin scam which is being seen as the 'last straw' for those that care about the cryptosphere.

So, even more so than it was already, NOW is the time to keep everything you can't afford to lose OFF the exchanges & safely tucked up in an encrypted personal wallet.

Remember, if you don't have it in your own wallet, if you don't have absolute control over the private keys, then it simply ISN'T YOUR MONEY!!!

ADDITIONAL:

Current rate is 126 litoshi = 1 satoshi so if you wanna buy Zeit right now, it's better value to go to the BTC pairing & buy for 1 sat. (If you can find a seller!)
