I don't have problems with syncing, but the whole thing is getting very slow and consuming more resources each day.
Turning on the wallet once a day to download the day worth of transactions takes about two hours to be back in sync.

When we move from the 30 second block time to a 45 second block time, this should speed up syncing.
However this will require a hard fork, so it will probably be postponed until a major update is put out.

I did just test mine and it took ~35 minutes to sync 24 hours worth. (4 gig of ram running windows.)
If running ZEIT under an emulator , up the Ram to 2 or 3 gig and see if that speeds you up, you might have some disk thrashing happening.
(Also if the Wallet is not encrypted, it can try to stake and slow down the syncing process.)

 Cool

FYI:
ZEIT is adding ~1 gig to the blockchain per year, which is sustainable
In comparison Ethereum is adding ~1 gig to their blockchain Every Month.

This all looks like 2014 for real now. Much hacking, much pumping, much dumping ... and Tesla Coin pumping, which last happened in 2014.

coinwallet.co closing, shapeshift .. ffs .. hacked. This is all getting serious again.

To those of you following the Cryptsy saga, and with some nominal funds stuck in the exchange the moment it went down, here's some news for you.

https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/cryptsy-update-court-freezes-bitcoin-exchanges-assets-appoints-receiver/

Basically, at some point you will be able to submit a claim for whatever the balance is that you lost.

This is why US companies are safer, even if less private. Even when they fail like Mt. Gox, investors and depositors can at least get some of their funds back.....eventually. Maybe 10c on the dollar, but they'd still get it back.

That error indicates your Blockchain is corrupted, so you will have to reinstall the snapshot.

That many times , if windows run a Chkdsk /r /f on the hard drive and then run some hard drive diags on the hard drive and a diags on the Ram.

If you are not in a rush , I will be updating the snapshot in the next 24 hours.

I guess it is down to the settings. I run ZEIT wallet on VM, Win7, 4GB RAM with  2 cores and 32GB of free disk space. Should be more than enough to keep the syncing speed at the acceptable level.
But my point was to flag this issue as a point to discussion at some time from here. We may want to discuss block time and introduction of fixed hard-coded check point to make the issue of installing new wallet easier and thus attract new users.

But my point was to flag this issue as a point to discussion at some time from here. We may want to discuss block time and introduction of fixed hard-coded check point to make the issue of installing new wallet easier and thus attract new users.

Block time is the main delay for syncing and why our Blockchain is ~1 gig per year.
I played with some that have a 2½ minute block time and they do sync very fast, but man are they slow when you send your coins out.
Plus once we are used globally, the lower our block time the more transactions we will be able to deliver, avoiding the issue that BTC is currently facing.
Plus Lower Block times the more chance to stake , which should make sure the poor are never crowded out from staking by the rich.
45 seconds is only 15 second more , but % wise ~33% more time, which would improve sync speeds while staying close enough to the original 30 second block time, that few if any will notice a speed difference in sending coins, plus yearly a smaller growth in the block chain and a higher difficulty # making our coin more secure.
Ray does add a new fixed hard-coded check point in every new wallet, personally I would not mind a rolling checkpoint be added someday (After say every 500 blocks the wallet would refuse a reorganization).

It is becoming apparent, that their will need to be 3rd parties players involved in the future that makes things easier.
Even thru I would prefer it if ZEIT stayed completely under everyone's personal control.
This making it easier for the general public is going to require web wallets & mobile access to said wallets in a style similar to coinbase and beyond their current efforts.
Plus a connection to Debit style cards and 3rd partys running internal transactions that may not show up on the ZEIT blockchain, but will have a fortunate side effect of giving us the ability to scale on an infinite level, not restrained by any block speed or transactions limit.
Our Main Focus will be making sure ZEIT runs as stable and reliable as possible , but the final easy solutions will be provided by a 3rd party.

Hey Guys,

So yeah as you can see i am new here, (but please do not hold that against me) I come here with peace and harmony and good vibes, im just a little late to the party thats all. Supporting a few coins and making my moves only now but i hope that i am not too late getting in on a select few on my altcoin favourites.

As i just said over on digibyte i had a handle of altcoins that caught my attention and this is also one of my other ones. Its strange this, one because before i even know anything about what ZEIT was about when i seen it listed as i was scanning through coinmarketcap it just jumped out to me instantly. Now i guess that is probably because i am an expat living in Berlin right enough... haha but then yes as i looked into you guys more, i know that it had to of been something a bit more

SO also i said on to the digibyte guys, I have been active on most other platforms, bitcointalk really being the last place to get too due to the overwhelming amount of stuff to take in , in the last shor while you can understand, but i am definitely here to stay and to show as much support as possible. i have twitter account too (below) feel free to find me there and follow.

Also i will admit bit of a tech noob and I am thinking about starting a Crypto-Currency for dummies style blog hoping to bring this to the masses when the inevitable comes in the next year(s) and have already put out a couple of "beta mode" entries with some friends and family who know absolutely nothing about it and are of course skeptical (which by current statistics is 92%).

I have downloaded the core wallet just now and hopefully i can start getting involved with the mining , but with that i am going to need some of your help because its where i hit that big fuck off grand national style hurdle for me (the chair or breechers brook perhaps if anyone knows their horse racing) The digibyte one is nearly finished syncing after 3 days. Will ZEIT wallet take as long to you think? Also i am just running on a macbook pro, so will it be possible now with PoS if i upgrade and install the most up to date equip or is it better just making up win 7 rigs etc? I just want to get started mining with ZEIT and well as dgb asap...!! Smiley

Cheers for now and thanks for any responses in advance.

Peace
