http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Kobiconn/172-4207/?qs=sGAEpiMZZMv%2f60yVGPe5wBNY7Xjt6tclbkKJ8WANhs4%3d

So 1 GS at 12v 10w scrypt is .85A 1 GS at 12v 90w is 7.5A This cord is rated up to 300v (per manufacturer) and up to 16 Amp per (http://www.powerstream.com/Wire_Size.htm)

I think I'll grab a few hundred before you peeps buy them up.

Wonder If they are even saving any space?

http://www.mouser.com/catalog/specsheets/KC-300334.pdf

Looks like 10mm ish savings at least Smiley

This looks really interesting, thanks. A bit pricey for a couple feet of wire, but if it works and doesn't burn the house/shed/datacenter it might be worth it.

Yeah, the non right angle plugs are a lot cheaper

I've been collecting error messages and solutions in the last section as well.

Thanks!

I couldn't get your batch file to work (looping through all the ACM devices, but I was able to write a batch file that launched the 10 I have in 10 separate screens.

Thoughts:
1) put $count at the end of each screen name. That makes it easier to switch to a specific miner.
2) I also needed to "sudo -s" before I run the batch file, or it does not let me use the devices.
3) instructions when ssh to start the miners, something about "screen -S mining" , and <ctrl>A, <ctrl>D to exit ssh and still keep the miners running.

Now to see if they run all night.

OK Take a look now and let me know if it's more clear.

Also Try:

Quote
If you don't want to run all of the miners as sudo/root
Code:
sudo usermod -G plugdev -a <username>
Where <username> is your username: sudo usermod -G plugdev -a miner

And see if it lets you run the miner as a normal user (It does on my linux and pi)

I should make a section on how to physically label your gridseeds with serial numbers and then run them based on serial numbers so you can see if you have an issue with one?  I think.

Molex connectors can run 11 amps per pin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Molex_connector).

The gauge of the yellow wire should be 18 and the black wire is about 20 gauge, but I couldn't find a gauging tool at Ace hardware so I'm not sure.

The 1:10 splitter was probably pushing it with the gauges for that amperage.  I'm waiting for the buyer to test them before I decide to make any more.

My 1:1 and 1:2 power adapters are definitely safe and functional.  I also have ordered better wiring to make 1:10 (or less) splitters.

PM me if you want to buy any custom cabling with any number of splits.

Ok, so Molex specifies 8 amps for 18 AWG, which MIGHT work with 10 miners without catching fire in a properly cooled environment, but you are too close. And since most power supplies use 18 AWG for Molex anyway, you should reconsider the 10-way. Just a friendly warning so that I could later gloat "I told you so" when one of your customer's house burns down :-)

Thanks for the info.  Sometimes I run into things full speed before considering everything.  I've contacted the buyer and their cables haven't yet arrived so I should be able to sort things out with them before their house burns down.

I am currently building new splitters with larger cables to make sure everything is well within the safe range.  I will post some pics once I have them finished and tested.

Can an electrician help me out.... or armchair electrician! Smiley

I'm trying to figure out a custom power setup using ATX power supplies for Scrypt mode only. Would something like this work?Huh

Utilizing 12v PCIe Cables:
PSU -> PCIe cable -> PCIe 8 pin to double 6 pin Splitter (could be replaced with 6 pin to 6 pin splitter if neccesary) -> Two PCIe 6 pin to double 6 pin Splitters -> Produces 12 hot and 12 ground wires after cutting off the ends -> 12 barrel plugs

Utilizing 12v Molex Cables:
One 4 pin Molex Cable with 3 connectors -> Splitter all on three connectors -> Produces 6 hot and 6 ground wires after cutting off the ends -> 6 barrel plugs

Utilizing 12v 8 pin CPU Cable:[/b]
PSU -> CPU 8 pin cable -> Produces 4 hot and 4 ground wires after cutting off ends -> 4 barrel plugs

Assuming I used a Corsair CS750M PSU (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139061) it would have:
Four 8 Pin PCI-E Cables -> Splitter -> Double Splitter -> 12 barrel plugs each -> Powers 48 Gridseeds
One 4 pin Molex Cable with 3 connectors -> Splitter all on three connectors -> 6 barrel plugs -> Powers 6 Gridseeds
One 8 pin CPU Cable -> 4 barrel plugs -> Powers 4 Gridseeds

58 Gridseeds total powered @ 10 watts each = 580 watts = an efficiently loaded PSU imo. Cool

There is 62 amps on the +12 v rail of that PSU... by my calculation up to 744 watts. So I could probably power more gridseeds if I wanted to? Any ideas of how to add more units easily?? Possibly by adding more connectors/adapters?? using the ATX connector? I liked the idea of using splitters because I can just cut off the end and jam them into the barrel plug connectors pretty easily.

Adapters/Splitters/Barrel Plugs Used:
The 8pin to 6 pin adapter: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-PCI-E-8-PIN-TO-PCI-E-6-PIN-Y-SPLITTER-POWER-CABLE-6-MADE-IN-AMERICA-/251342990721?pt=US_Power_Cables_Connectors&hash=item3a8535ad81
$6.50

The 6 pin to 6 pin adapter: http://www.outletpc.com/jp1932.html?gclid=CNvu3ZXQlL0CFSNp7Aodmh0A2A
$.99 each

Molex splitters: http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-Pin-Molex-Y-Splitter-Divider-Power-Cable-for-PC-Computer-PSU-Power-Supply-/121280596049?pt=US_Drive_Cables_dapters&hash=item1c3ce30851
$0.91 each

Barrel plugs: http://www.ebay.com/itm/100PCs-2-1-x-5-5mm-12V-DC-Power-Male-Plug-Jack-Adapter-Connector-for-CCTV-Camera-/221387014675?pt=US_Surveillance_Cables_Adapters_Connectors&hash=item338bb1c213
100 for $24.21

Any ideas to reduce costs??? Source the splitters somewhere cheaper, add more adapters/splitters? etc. Huh

Note: If you try this, it is at your own risk. I'm not positive this will work but I don't see why it wouldn't...

Thanks for all your help. At this point, I am letting them run so I can individually set their mhz and difficulty level.

Question: Does minerd (cpuminer) have any options while running? I'd like to see cumulative shares submitted, errors & rejections, confirm which pool it is connected, etc. I tried searching cpuminer, but only found command line options. I figured out <ctrl>c to end it. But, that is about it.

No options.  There are some forked builds of bfgminer/cgminer which report hashrate better and have fine grained clock tuning.  I am waiting for one of the main miners to merge in the gridseed code before changing the instructions.  I really thought we would have cgminer/sgminer/bfgminer mainstream support by now?  I'm ok using the gridseed modified CPUminer but I don't like building out random third party git repos to mine with Smiley

Mr. Unicorn, has anyone been able to set up something similar to BAMT? Or Litecoin BAMT with this running? (or has anyone made an image to burn to a USB flash drive, set up to mine with gridseeds instead of cgminer / sgminer?)

Looks like 10mm ish savings at least Smiley

This looks really interesting, thanks. A bit pricey for a couple feet of wire, but if it works and doesn't burn the house/shed/datacenter it might be worth it.

Yeah, the non right angle plugs are a lot cheaper
