Any way to get bfgminer to display more then just 15 GS units? I have 28 hooked up but can't see what they are all doing. Windows BTW.

right click on the bfg window menu bar and go to properties. Go to layout, change the height to 40 or 50, hit apply/ok restart bfgminer.

You can also arrow down in the window to make it scroll.

THANK YOU!!! That was driving me insane.  Next question, has anyone been able to get bfgminer to work with more then 28 GS units? I have a 10 port hub in the port with 1 10 port plugged into it and a 13 port plugged into it.  When using bfgminer it crashes at 29 units.

EDIT: Pic of my 11 units hashing after 30 hrs or so.

Just when you think you have a handle on this stuff, BOOM, back to the drawing board and more testing.

Like I said before HUBS matter, LOL
Today I got a 24 port monoprice round hub. Can't use it in my 3U but sure as hell, 24 pots run fine on the Pi.
-bobby

We really need to do a HUB section

-bobby

UPDATE:: I was wrong,.  23 is max, at 24 the nic card dies.

I hadn't seen it mentioned previously but has anybody gone over 900Mhz on these yet?

Tired of substandard power distribution in your ASIC setup???   Chris' Custom Cablez will get you sorted out right!  No job too hard so PM me for a quote

I saw their 36 port round hub, but wasn't sure the rpi could handle it.
Was thinking about 2x 13 port hubs instead. Do you think the max is 23 for the rpi or is the nic problem somthing else?

I agree! There needs to be a good study on USB protocol, techniques, technology, hardware, differences between types etc. and of course USB hubs.

I need to learn a lot more about USB than I know before I take the plunge and start wiring up farms.

Do we have any USB experts out there?

I'm getting out of context here, but are there some other people worried about the fact of the huge Asic machines coming out summer/winter ? + most coins switching to scrypt N adaptive ? saw like 3 or 4 switch already today?
I'm interested in pre order of some fibonacci Recursion but if all coins will switch we will have some nice gridseed and other hardware we can put in the bin  Grin

Ive heard of "new" coins with Scrypt-N but hadn't heard of any switch mid-stream...
Can you elaborate?

just take a look at this coin for example :

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=500511.new#new

they went to N adaptive since this morning because the dev was tired of the coin getting hit by the multipools.

And they are already discussing on other coin threads of doing the same.

If all coins switch to N our Asic miners will be useless because it needs a big amount of ram that only GPU can handle with a special
miner such as bfgminer made especially for Vertcoin.

Good to know. Not one of my regular coins, but the fact that they can switch is interesting.
I was trying to play with vertcoin, but not having much luck, even after following the directions to best of my ability...

Three words come to mind...
IGNORE THAT SHYT!

There are NO Scrypt-N coins in circulation 'yet' IF ever!
So why announce it now instead of waiting for them to actually be minted and released for circulation?

I'd be careful about accepting RUMOR as fact because it ain't true. It's just BULL SHYT!

That's my .000000025btc worth!

There is a BAMT version for Vertcoin, works pretty well. You need to re-tune the GPUs though, regular scrypt settings probably won't work. Good news is that in some cases engine and memory clocks can be lowered without adverse effects on hashrate (e.g. a 270X works reasonably well at 950/1250 for Vertcoin, as opposed to 1050/1500 for Scrypt).

IMO so don't flame me bum but it is cyclical and you can bet that day will come, but it is going to be a while. Just like before the arms race will come first then the next iteration of GPU coins will follow. The tricks are 1.) Don't be the last dude in on any particular cycle or your going to be left holding the bag ala the poor bastards that were dropping 1900 for a three GPU power gulping rig a month ago. They are going to have a hell of a time just getting ROI if BTC prices stay the way they are. 2.) Don't be a fanboy of anything other than making money. The next wave of ASIC miners are more of a threat to this gen than anything else, save the bottom following out of BTC. My thought is if this gen can ROI itself before the next it can lay there and make what ever money it can. The developers are liable to get pissed after the next gen starts to hit so for now I am looking at setting up my GPU rig with 750TI or other Haswell type and cuda miner about that same time.

Of course things change but that is what my Ouija Board says today.

PM me your hub models and your controller type: WiiBox, TPLINK, Linux, Windows, Pi etc.  I'll start adding them.

BTW the top heatsink seems unneeded in scrypt mode.  My 5 gridseed chips hit about 97F max. (ONLY A 5 MINUTE TEST)

So I made a decorative gridseed for my desk Smiley   Than is just for looks and really isn't needed.

I used an IR probe to measure top and bottom temps and noticed the bottom is always way hotter while hashing.  So I pulled of the top heatsink and watched the chip temps.  Looks like the circuitry between the chips which have no contact with the TIM get a lot hotter than the chip tops.  This means you could easily build a stack by removing the bottom heatsink from each gridseed and attaching it to the top of another after removing the fan and fan bracket.

Looks like I can fit over 30 in a 3U.  Using 200-500 on a micro-ATX cube case to control multiple cases (Which I recall yelling at someone for earlier Smiley

I accept the risk breaking my own toys and so do you....
