well but that already happened, i doubt it can happen again in the same way, it's clearly the time for a pump now

it can't "dump" forever...

gold on the other hand is approaching a good dump, and money that leave one field will enter in another one

Bitcoin's biggest advantage over Gold: Its purely virtual and can thus be sent over the net to anywhere in an instant. Gold's biggest advantage over Bitcoin: You can hold it in your hands.

because bitcoin is volatile i would choose both of them as 50:50
Gold is legal and more trusted than bitcoin and of course is not volatile like bitcoin
But i prefer bitcoin to because i love this technology and i believe in someday it would changes our curency

Look the Q2 report from coindesk:
http://www.coindesk.com/research/

They clearly analyzed it that now the bitcoin value = price.

In past when it was 1200$ it was just a speculative bubble, and it's value was then below 100$ so it's obvious that it crashed as it had nothing besides a few forum shills and some p2p trading.

Slowly as it's value increased, price decreased, and now the value matches the price. Value being the 100,000 merchants the many many VC firms, and other silicon valley & wallstreet investments.

So as the value now will go up, the price will follow. I think we will never see bitcoin below 200$, i think its very foolish to think that the next price increase will be a bubble, because now we got strong economic support for bitcoin, not only forum shills.

Bitcoin, absolutely. Bitcoin will be the next payment system and will rise much more. Gold as payment system is old school idea but its important for industry.

If you want to choose bitcoin over gold, there are a lot of reasons to do that but what kind of a reason is that it will be the next payment system? Gold stopped being a payment system years ago. If you want to compare bitcoin and gold, you should compare it by comparing its qualities as a currency. Qualities like medium of exchange, unit of account, portability, durability, divisibility, fungibility, store of value point out that bitcoin is much more advanced than gold.

That's true, bitcoin is much more advanced than gold, but I still have faith in gold that it would survive for many years, on the other hand bitcoin is unpredictable as there would many other digital currencies in the future which can replace bitcoins.

The only thing I like about bitcoins over the gold is the amount that you can carry with you in your digital wallet is unknown to anyone. Whereas you cannot carry a large amount of gold across the countries, or else customs can put you in trouble.

Gold will surely survive for much more years, but I do not think that gold will be considered of any other special value except use in jewelry. I don't think any other coin can replace bitcoin because all of them work only when they are designed to compliment btc rather than replace it. The only crypto which can give btc a competition is a crypto developed and forced by govt. Oh and also, why would you want to carry shit load of gold anyway? let's discuss problems which actually matter Wink

You don't want to carry it around. It's more like store of value.

Has anyone ever watched the show called Revolution? I'd have to pick gold. No power ? No Bitcoin. All it takes is one super mind to be able to create the mother of all worms and everyone is talking to you by candlelight or maybe solar powered light panel. Sure you can use a generator from a few automobile batteries but after awhile you're sitting in the dark if someone doesn't know how to get the power back on.

So a nice safe heaping of gold would be my best bet. It probably would be best to read up on how to create solar panels while you're at it. Make sure to keep your toilets clean as you may need to use that water to wash your face.... ***runs to grab the comet and toilet brush** Huh

bitcoin is the future of gold
if Bitcoin ever reaches a mainstream reputation similar to gold regarding its usefulness as a store of value, we can probably expect price increases at the cost of the gold price.

If you had to convert all your wealth to either Bitcoin or gold and keep it there for 10 years, which would you choose? Keep in mind the fact that Bitcoin has only been around for 5 years, and could be fundamentally different in any number of ways in 10 years.

I think I'd take the risk of putting all of my wealth into bitcoin because I'm a staunch believer in it's future.
But if I were a regular user, I don't think he/she would risk that.
