Holding the tournament in the middle east is a much better option, but everything needs to be arranged and that will take a few months time. And this is why the delaying tactics of the BCCI doesn't looks good. The ICC thinks that it is only a matter of time before the tournament is moved to UAE. But then, UAE will be hosting the IPL as well. There is a perception that too many matches squeezed in to a limited number of grounds will create issues. So I heard that they are also exploring the possibility of declaring Oman as the co-host for the World Cup.

India is not a small country neither does it have a small population. It will take time for the virus to slow down. I think before the worldcup the situation will be far better. If it doesn't then the Worldcup will be shifted to a different location. At the moment things are looking way better than what they were last month.

As per the official figures, yesterday we had almost 3,000 deaths from COVID 19 (the real death toll may be much higher). I wouldn't call that as an improvement. For comparison, the daily death toll was around 100 during January-February. I don't think that the situation is going to change in a month or two. Going by the trend, it is going to take at least 6 months to achieve a state of normalcy. The virus will not slow down on its own. It will only slow down if the majority of the population is vaccinated.

@Vishnu.Reang the World Cup will be played in India, because suddenly cases are dropping to very low levels and everyone seems to be getting the vaccination. Furthermore I feel that India won’t be effected by the third wave, because many Indians will be vaccinated by the time World Cup starts.

PSL set to resume on June 9, final on June 24. This will be a  jam pack month of entertainment with PSL.  It would have been better if the remaining matches could be played in the home county but nevertheless we want to see the result for the sixth season of the PSL.

I am very happy, because after a long time we will see another franchise tournament. There is no possibility of the IPL being held again at the moment. Once the PSL is held we will be able to enjoy its matches and we will be able to bet again.

Well, it has to happen. Finally they just disclosed the fixtures of the remaining matches. PSL previously postponed from Pakistan due to the lack of bio-bubble. The pandemic crisis hasn't decreased significantly in Pakistan yet. Foreign players won't feel it safe in this condition. Though COVID cases increasing in UAE but there will be better security for players. I hope the tournament will end there without any new issue.

Majority of Indians are still not following the precaution protocols effectively and shortage of vaccines combined with the humungous population of India are reasons why most people won't get vaccinated before this year ends.

We are still having around 3,000 deaths per day. That is a huge number. And the test positivity rate is above 10%, or even above 20% for many of the states, which means that the number of cases and deaths may be getting under-reported. At this point, it is unthinkable to hold any major tournament in India. Perhaps the real intention from the BCCI is to sabotage the World Cup, so that it will be called off and they can use that slot in the cricketing calendar for their own use.

Yes, BCCI to conduct remainder of IPL 2021 in September-October in UAE. The good thing about this one would be that the players will see the PSL matches and will have a better understanding on how the pitches behave in UAE in this part of the year.  Also this will be first time IPL will be played outside India.

The official explanation is that it was clashing with the general election schedule, but the real intention was to save taxes. And then again in 2020, they shifted the tournament to the UAE. For 2021 also we were expecting that the tournament will be held in UAE, but the BCCI wanted to help the Indian government with the taxes and therefore scheduled the tournament in India.

The direct tax itself amounts to 43% to 46% (₹900 crore) and on top of that there is all sort of indirect revenue for the government (such as income tax from the players and GST on tickets). Also, there are other plus points such as job creation and tourist arrivals. The government will react very negatively of the BCCI try to avoid taxes on a regular basis. And it was partly due to the pressure from the government that they actually decided to stage the IPL 2021 in India.

I also don't understand this logic of tax saving. BCCI earns a lot and there should be no harm paying the taxes which will indirectly help in the reforms of their own country. Seems like a childish thing for any cricketing board which is as rich as Indian board, to think about the tax savings.

It may sound immoral, but I don't think that the BCCI should be blamed here. Each and every business has a right to take steps that will reduce the tax bill. Let's take the case of Amazon. A recent report claimed that they pay no EU tax, despite doing sales worth €43.8 billion for the year 2020 within the EU boundaries. Their EU corporate office is located in one of the tax havens (Luxembourg) and most of the filings are done from countries such as Ireland and Hungary where the tax rates are low. When corporates can do this, then why not the BCCI? They are not doing anything illegal.

The ICC wants politicians to stay away from cricket administration. But the BCCI is full of politicians, who have hardly any connection to cricket. Some of the state associations are controlled by the ruling party, some by the Sharad Pawar gang and a few by the Srinivasan mafia. There is hardly any state board that is under the control of former cricketers. So it was only natural for the BCCI to go by the government directive. The government needed money desperately and they just asked the BCCI clowns to schedule the tournament in India.

You're talking about the ministers. The Prime Minister is far above these ministers, because they told of drinking and bathing on urine. The prime minister went a step above and insisted people to make noise with drums, vessels and whatever you have in your hand at a particular time to fight against covid-19 during the first wave. What a foolishness.

Today there has been an official announcement from the Oman Cricket Association. They have expressed their willingness to co-host the ICC T20 World Cup. OCA want the matches to be played in Al Amerat ground, Muscat. If approved, this will be the first time that Oman is hosting a global ICC championship. ICC is going to take the decision only on 28th June, so it is going to be a 4 weeks wait for everyone. Today also India reported close to 3,400 deaths from COVID, and there is hardly any improvement.
