@burner2014 I just paused scoring of new blocks for a bit to verify some of the data for everyone here that was asking about UVC. You should see a fully updated list of found blocks now.

Don't think it was updating correctly, you could see the Current Block being mined was a much higher number than the last listed block found. For me it just updated.

Ouch, that's quite a hit (I've just looked at my account).
But what ipominer is saying sounds plausible, lots of people get caught out by PoS issues. Let's hope UVC climbs in value so I end up with a positive balance!

IVC has been forked -- we've been in contact with MintPal and are working on it, but it is best to not withdraw any IVC coins or mine it currently.

CINNI also may be forked, as I mentioned previously, and we're looking into it, but obviously have had a lot of other things that are a bit more pressing at the moment.

Withdrawals for both IVC and CINNI have been temporarily suspended until we can investigate their blockchains/fork situation.

Please expect 10-12 hours until IVC and CINNI can be worked on much though.

Ok, thanks, I have sent my IVC coins on Mintpal yesterday, so I hope they are going to show up later.

The IVC situation seems like a serious fork, with nearly 50% of the network hashrate on both sides and many blocks mined.. it will likely be hard to resolve, unless we were to add hashpower and gain >51% of the network to force our blockchain onto the network. (Which may be an option, but we'll need to evaluate tomorrow - its 4AM here so I'm going to get some sleep now.)

Of course we'll keep you posted on any updates to the situation.

Ouch just looked at my UVC balance, after reading the ipominer post on the negative balance I dont think its fair to nickel and dime, ipo has helped me make good profit so far I feel its only right to make them whole.

thanks IPO for the response on the UVC balance issue.

I had not mined much on ipominer so have only been impacted by about 24hrs of loss.
I agree with the need to rectify the loss. i think it is more the approach that has taken everyone by surprise e.g. seeing a negative account balance with no warning.
perhaps in future a warning email or post would help soften the blow.
ipominer is a great pool, and has shown some good profits

On what do you base the statement that "CINNI also may be forked" ?
(I am asking becourse I send coins that never arrived.)

there is no problem.
from the information you told me in pm it sounds like you tried to send coins from old wallet to new wallet.
there was a hard fork at block 60k.
everyone knows about this because there were big red letters on the top of the op.
exchanges were notified and they upgraded.
this was long time ago.
there is nothing to worry about.

Bluecoin has been disabled on Bittrex, suspected double spend attack, anyone mining that might want to stop for a bit.

My IVC withdrawal to Mintpal from yesterday went through eventually, dont know whether that means the fork has been resolved or not.

This has been a pretty stable and profitable pool for when I haven't had my own ideas of what to mine. Good site.

I can understand why some people are upset.

While coin mining is indeed a "risk" and nothing is promised. The same goes for the business of owning/operation a pool.  It is also a risk... nothing is promised.

It is a little unfair to ask the miners to solely bear the brunt of a mistake made by the pool.

In the end, the coins were absolutely not "owed" to the miners... the coins never truly existed... That doesn't change the fact that the mistake was made by the pool, not the miners.  Asking for people to send back coins already withdrawn is tacky at best.

It probably would have been in the best interest of ipominer to "write off" the mistake as a loss and move one.

That would make all the miners feel good towards ipominer instead of a little put off by them.

If the pool can't take a loss like that, then it might be wise to be on top of everything and find issues before they become too big to cover.

I certainly wouldn't like to cover the loss as a pool owner/operator, but I would do it.  It's never a good idea to make someone else more responsible for your mistakes than yourself. That starts to harbor feelings of untrust and doubt.  Two things I don't want people to feel about my business. Just the way I see it.

My opinion certainly isn't the only one... nor is it any more right or wrong than any other opinion... It is just one opinion among many.

We operate completely transparently -- all mined blocks are shown on the site and coins earned per block can be verified there per miner. Of course, the blockchain is a public source of information, and all inputs/outputs can be tracked there.

The UVC mined blocks listed on the site previously contained the following POS blocks, which have now been removed because POS blocks should not earn a normal block reward: http://pastebin.com/ZVhWyuyd

If you check those blocks against the block explorer at http://cryptexplorer.com/chain/UniversityCoin, you'll see they are POS blocks: coins are input and output to the same address, with a tiny amount of POS stake gained on them in the process. For example the first block listed, #5050, is at http://cryptexplorer.com/tx/d3a21305b79dd43e857dfb7c60ddab15fc3a5a048ac840fb59e876d08c9983b5 and you can see that the input is 500 coins, the output is 500.120863 coins.

For that block #5050, and all the other blocks in the pastebin list, we incorrectly credited the full POS block amount to miners, resulting in overpayment which has now been corrected.

You fucked up, not us. You should eat the cost.

It doesn't quite work that way in the real world.  This isn't a charity.  You get paid for the valid blocks that are found by the pool.  And given that there are dishonest people out there who won't send coins back, ipominer will likely have to cover some of these losses out of his own pocket already.

We're not babysitters, and sometimes we actually have to sleep.  You should be keeping track of the coins you mine.  It's very unlikely that any CINNI transactions will be lost in the fork as there are no new blocks to be mined (or more specifically, no new blocks to be orphaned by the fork)
