Messi wasn't singlehandedly carrying but he had the most impact on the pitch for Barcelona. We also cannot deny the impact players like Xavi, Iniesta or Neymar had but Messi had the most impact. Before Neymar and Suarez joined, he had the duty of scoring goals and he did that very well. Even scoring 91 goals in a calendar year.

In my opinion, this is a biased statement - Xavi and Iniesta made the greatest contribution to the team. If you remember Xavi and Iniesta won the 2008 European Championship, then the 2010 World Championship and then again the 2012 European Championship - the greatest achievement. They did it without Messi, and without them, Messi himself failed at the 2010 World Cup and then at the 2011 America's Cup.

At everytime Barcelona always has great players.
Players like Eto, Ronaldinho, Ibrahimovic, Ture Yaya, Xavi, Iniesta, Messi, Neymar, Saurez etc.
These players have their best and played their quota in making the club great.
Yet, there impacts divers based on the time they arrived, their wings and loyalty.
Xavi and I Iniesta had great impact because they span to different generations and were doing it when it seems no one else could handle the midfield.
Messi having rose to arguably the best player in the world, still remained with Barcelona in what seems like a life contract.

Over the years, picking the  champions league winner hasn’t been too difficult because it has been based on the best domestic team from European leagues and with good and enough available players to rotate the team during other domestic league or league cup games. And for now I think the favorite team to win the champions league should be Real Madrid, Manchester City or Bayern muchen because domestically they have been good and they are in a great form right now as well, they have great players and with great managers as well and if they carry on like this, either of those teams should be European champions.

 I would have added PSG but to me PSG aren’t really a team that can compete with Bayern Munich even with all those great players in the team especially the attack, the chemistry isn’t really there when they play and that is why they are having a hard time scoring goals. Domestically PSG have lost just one match with 5 draws and winning 15 games, but we know they are not really in a competitive league. And I don’t think the manager have enough champions league experience to know the right thing to do when the going gets tough. Champions league is very competitive and considered the highest league trophy in football.

Man City is 11 points clear of Liverpool which is in second place so Man City shouldn't really worry about the English Premier League right now.

And they are also in the top position in UEFA Champions League in their group. But they are only one point clear of PSG. So I don't think that this should be any problem for them too.

As @hahay previously mentioned they are used to rotations, these matches should not be a problem for Manchester City to win.

Anyway, Manchester City has a match against Southampton tonight which I think ok Manchester city is going to win easily unless something miracles happen.

PSG is a great team if you look at them on paper but considering the fact that they don't have much competition in their League, and Neymar currently seems to be more concerned about fragging out in counter strike global offensive than to scoring goals,

I don't think PSG is in any situation to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

And I think we can all agree that we have never seen that type of chemistry which we expected from the star players in the team. And I also agree about the manager not being very experienced in the Champions League. So I honestly do not give PSG much of a chance to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

This is the Champions League so if a team wants to win here everything has to come and work together for that win. The players the coaches everyone should do their job correctly to lead their team to victory. And players' form is of real importance here. I also believe that Bayern Munich and Manchester City should face off in the quarter-finals. And also on the other hand PSG vs Real Madrid.
About the championship winners, I think Bayern Munich has a real good chance of winning this if they don't choke under pressure.
And if we do get to see a PSG vs Real Madrid match it will be really interesting from a viewer's point of view.
