In the first Test against New Zealand, Bangladesh were bowled out for 310 runs in the first innings and when New Zealand returned to bat in the second innings, Bangladesh bowled New Zealand out for 317 runs. In other words, New Zealand ended the first innings with a lead of just seven runs. At the end of the first two innings, there was no chance to put the two teams much ahead or behind as the game between the two teams was almost evenly matched. In the second innings, Bangladesh again went into bat where Bangladesh collected six runs without a wicket in the second innings. Bangladesh scored 310 runs in the first innings, Bangladesh must score more runs in the second innings because New Zealand batsmen must perform better in the second innings than in the first innings.

New Zealand batted well enough. They managed to  take a lead of 7 runs. I thought the team would lose all wickets before 300. The team was able to collect 317 runs with the help of captain Tim Southee's 35 runs. Mominul Haque picked up three wickets for just 4 runs.
Since the pitch is completely bowling friendly, if  Bangladesh can score more than  300 in  the second innings, they have a chance to win. Because it is very difficult to bat in the second innings on this pitch. Bangladesh's  two openers are batting very carefully. Bangladesh collected 14 runs without losing any wicket in 7 overs. I expect at least 50 runs from the first wicket pair.

Before the lunch break, Bangladesh batted 10 overs and collected 19 runs without losing a wicket. I saw the batting of two batsmen. Zakir and Joy are batting with enough responsibility. Zakir scored 14 runs off 26 balls and Joy scored just 5 runs off 34 balls. He is batting well. In the first innings we saw an excellent innings of 86 runs from JOy. Even today he is playing very well.
As I saw the condition of the pitch, it is very difficult to score 400 runs on this pitch. A target of 320-340 is enough to win. But I have considerable doubts whether Bangladesh will be able to muster more than 250.

LOL.. it was entirely unexpected that New Zealand took the first innings lead. Kyle Jamieson and Tim Southee were involved in a 52-run 9th wicket partnership, that took New Zealand from 264/8 to 316/9. Still they need to bat during the 4th innings, but now they have the psychological advantage with them. Bangladesh has started their second innings rather cautiously, with Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Zakir Hasan taking them to 22/0 after 11 overs. If they can get to a lead of 240-250, that should be enough in this track.

It is surprising that the Bangladesh team was all out in the first innings. Bangladesh is not very good at Test matches because Test matches mainly have to protect the wicket and last for a long time. But the Bangladeshi players were not very patient so they did not last long on the field and all the wickets fell on the first day scoring only 310 runs. They batted with a very good performance and fell by five wickets. If Bangladesh can do better in terms of bowling performance, then there is a high chance that the match will be competitive today. 200 runs 5 wickets in 63 overs of New Zealand team till now.

After BAN posted 310 in first innings New Zealand 266/8 and the 2nd day stumps off and NZ are 44 runs behind. Williamson make century 104 score other players contributes few runs on his team total. Williamson make partnership with Mitchell and Phillips 66 and 78 runs respectively. Tomorrow Southee and Jamieson will start the 1st session of 3rd day and trail 44 runs 2 wickets in hand now. What a brilliant bowling by Taijul Islam takes 4 wickets.

Bangladesh team batted quite well. A collection of 310 runs on this pitch is not bad. The performance of the bowlers is also very good. Especially Taijul bowled brilliantly. Taijul took 4 important wickets. New Zealand may not be able to score 300 runs. The New Zealand team will lose the remaining two wickets in the first 10 overs of the next day.

Now 2nd innings is start and Bangladesh are 19 without lost of any wicket and 1st session end of 3rd day. BAN need to play whole day and first 2 session of day 4 and posted 350 score then it will be difficult for NZ to chase this target. Nz bowlers needs to take wickets today then tomorrow it will be easy for NZ to chase the target.

A lead of around 250 is going to be enough on this surface and I guess Bangladesh will be able to reach that mark quite easily. Sad to see Ajaz Patel without much success in this innings as well. In the first innings also, he was more or less unsuccessful. The same can be said about Ish Sodhi as well.

sometimes 1 wicket brings 2 quickly so they need to tread carefully, they can't allow the Kiwis to come back into the game as there is plenty of time. One more partnership and they are home for good.

In test cricket if 2 wickets out of first 3 wickets are by run out then I will call that team amateur team. Here Bangladesh is introducing an amateur team, test cricket is a 5 day game here you don't need to take so much risk for one or two runs you will get many balls to score you will get a lot of time. Bangladesh's opening pair were broken by run outs and lastly Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque formed a good partnership but that partnership was again broken by run outs. Bangladesh definitely needed to increase their partnership in the third wicket pair but the partnership did not increase due to trying to get extra runs. Big collections must be made in the second innings and Bangladesh batsmen must bat with that in mind.

Two runs out of three wickets in a big venue like a Test match is really dangerous for a team. There is no point in getting run out where Bangladesh need runs. The next batsmen of Bangladesh must remember the curse of being run out. Why should I get run out where runs come only if I stay on the wicket? Nazmul Hasan Shanto and Mominul Haque formed a good partnership but the partnership was broken due to run outs.

If he can't take wickets even with such helpful conditions, then I am sorry to say that he doesn't deserve a place in the team. The same goes for Ish Sodhi as well. Bangladeshi spinners are bowling well and taking wickets at crucial intervals, while for New Zealand it is part-timer Glenn Phillips who is doing that role instead of Sodhi and Patel. Another 100-120 runs and this match will slip out of the gasp for New Zealand. Losing to a team like Bangladesh doesn't augurs well for the Kiwis, irrespective of the conditions.

If New Zealand's bowlers can dismiss them early on the fourth day, the game could become wide open. There isn't much batting left, so the first session on the fourth day is crucial for both sides. Bangladesh is already in a great position though, and they'll likely add more runs. If New Zealand can't get those remaining wickets quickly, I think they might find themselves hard times to save the match.

New Zealand were all out for 317 runs Bangladesh started their second innings trailing by seven runs. Bangladesh's team was under a lot of pressure after losing two wickets for 26 runs. Then captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto came to lead the team along with Mominul Haque. Nazmul Hasan Shanto and Mominul Haque's 90-run partnership was formed and Monir Haque was run out at the head of the 90-run partnership. In the second innings, Nazmul Hasan is batting at a calm and slow pace. Nazmul Hasan Shanto has done a great batting while Nazmul Hasan Shanto has seen a century. If the partnership of Nazmul Hasan Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim survives well, then maybe Bangladesh will be able to collect big runs. Bangladesh ended the third day with a lead of 205 runs. At the end of the third day, Nazmul Hasan Shanto scored 104 runs off 193 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim scored 43 runs off 71 balls.

It would be an insult to their batters if we are considering some sort of batting collapse tomorrow, especially against this spin attack. I've noticed this pattern, if the Subcontinent team produce any competitive spin deck or call it skill based track to SENA countries, their spinners fail 99.99% of the time. One of the main reasons "Doctored pitches" articles pop up all the time.

Bangladesh lead by 205 runs and we have two days left in the match. If the Bangladesh do not lose wickets or collapse (which they should not), the most important thing will be when to declare ? They would want enough time to bowl out New Zealand in the last innings. the captain Najmul Hossain Shanto is not out at 104 runs and a lot will depend on his wicket. If he can keep the one end save, it may give roam for the other end batsmen to play freely and of course quickly.

Will the 4 sessions be enough with 350 runs lead or it can be 3.5 sessions with 400 lead ? This will be a tough decision to declare with a proper lead and proper remaining time in the match.
