If you make the World XI of the current decade then Ashwin will walk in easily and if you look at his batting as a number 8 batter. Every team would love to have a bowler, who is handy with the bat. We shouldn't forget he has 5 tons in international cricket.

How much confidence in themselves a team batting just one innings with 5 wickets in hand declares the innings scoring only 421 runs and wins the match again by an innings margin and 141 runs. This is what we saw in the first Test match between West Indies vs India. West Indies could not score the same number of runs as India's half innings in 2 innings.  

150 in the first innings and 130 in the second innings can never be Test cricket scores. After a poor first innings, the second innings had a chance to save the team from losing by an innings to a place of honour, but West Indies failed even more in the second innings.  

Losing and winning is a part of the game but defeat must be fought and defeated. West Indies were dishonored in the first test against India.

I disagree. What is the definition of a good spinner? Does he have to move the ball like crazy like Warne or Murali? Does he have to take wickets whenever the team is a bad place? Does he need to give away less runs overall?

For me, a good spinner is someone who answers the last 2 questions effectively. Lyon's bowling average is decent and he took 526 wickets in just 153 matches : Good spinner!

Any spinner who can test both the inner and outer edge of batters is considered freaking gold. In my recent memory, no bowlers fit the bill even the likes of Murli or Warne. I've seen them fail multiple times against the Indian batting line up.

Unfortunately, everyone cares about the pace battery. I don't consider this wrong but when you think it's superior to spin then you are fucked. There is a reason Indians hardly lose at home because spin is an art and no one wants to do any hard yards.

I've said this many times, if you consider the Indian context then even great Warne was a mediocre bowler at best. I would never pick him in my playing XI if someone playing against India at their home turf.


PS : Lyon is a good spinner but not as good as Ashwin, period. You can call me biased but i can back my argument with the stats. After all that's what matters and don't forget to compare his stats with Ash.

India has actually declared their innings just now. Indies has just come out to bat. West Indies is trailing by 271. And a huge score for the West Indies team to be honest. After all, they did not score anything near that in the first innings.

I have a bet on India and Australia to win. It seems India to win is a sure bet but the next one for me will be challenging. England came back strong after wining the last match. The series is now 2 - 1. If they lose the next match then they will lose series. Will be a tough match considering the close results in the last three matches. Australia have a habit to handle pressure and win in pressure. Let's see what they will do in the 4th test. If they win then I will have some nice profit. After all it is The Ashes.

It was predicted before the start of the series that India will win against the West Indies. The situation in the West Indies is now very bad. The team also failed to qualify for the ODI World Cup.

The Ashes have become very competitive. After losing the first two matches, England made a great comeback in the third match. India's team is very strong and experienced. If you want to win against such a big team, you definitely need an experienced squad. But this West Indies squad is not experienced enough. And more importantly, most of the players in the team are out of form now. And so in both innings, we saw a West Indies batting disaster. West Indies batsmen are not going to play well as I could have guessed. However, a slightly better performance was expected from their bowlers. But the West Indies bowlers could not bowl well either. As a result, the West Indies team had to accept a humiliating defeat.

Obviously, this is another do or die match for England. I will actually say that if England does not make any big mistake they will be able to win this test match. If you look at the 1st two test matches in this Ashes series, we will see that England made some big mistakes and they paid for it. But in the third test match, England did not make too many mistakes and they were able to win. So making the right decisions all the time is going to be key for England.

Not being able to qualify for the World Cup was a huge reality check for the West Indies cricket team. I just hope that they do not become irrelevant. I also hope that what happened with Zimbabwe does not happen with them. But at this moment things are not looking good for them at all.

The match turned to be flawless from India, and it is all because of the opponent. If the opponent is strong enough surely the Indian team could've struggled. Just think of the WTC match against Australia. India was at its best, but they weren't able to win the match. West Indies have dropped performance and to understand the performance progress of India we need to watch its matches against the top teams with the same squad.

The game between these two teams is very hard.  And in the last 3 test matches, Australia won 2 and England won 1 but neither team can be ruled out in the 4th match.  Because both teams are very strong.  Since England won 1 of the last 3 matches, they can play well in the 4th match and add their victory to compete head to head with Australia. So I think that England can play the 4th match with strong morale and win the match but Australia cannot be neglected in this case too

Indian spinner bowler Ravichandran Ashwin is currently at the top of the Test bowling rankings. Ashwin is not only seen as a bowler but this legendary cricketer can bat like a professional batter.
It is true that there is no spinner in Australian cricket except Lyon but Indian cricket has several spinners including Ravindra Jadeja apart from Ravichandran Ashwin. Even if Ashwin is not there, there are several players who can fill his place in Indian cricket.

My point was actually regarding whether Lyon is a good spinner or not. I never compared him to Ashwin because I am an Ashwin fan myself and I know very well that he is far better than Lyon in several departments.

Almost everyone wants England to win in order to setup an awesome final, but it's tough to tell since the current Australian team usually bounce back pretty quickly based on what I observed.

Even if England wins the 4th test, I am expecting Australia to win the 5th test. Let's see what happens.

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka 1st Test match is going to start after a while. SriLanka won the toss and decided to bat. SriLanka are in good form. They are fielding with their strong XI. Sri Lanka will definitely get a bit more benefit as it is their home ground.
