I guess they have Ben Foakes in the squad as a specialist Wicketkeeper and he is superior behind the wicket, arguably one of the best gloves in the current generation. 

But at the same time, Young Jonny Bairstow is a better bat when compared to Ben Foakes that's why he's the first choice WK.

You are partially right here. Woakes was another great inclusion that made a huge difference since he is taking wickets and scoring really well as a tail-ender. Also, Lyon's injury helped them a lot too since Murphy isn't really bowling well.

Agreed on Woakes. Not only did he took crucial wickets, but also managed to score crucial runs towards the end. And regarding Murphy I would agree. IMO, they should have included Matthew Kuhnemann instead of Todd Murphy. Anyway, Australia never had a quality spinner after the retirement of Shane Warne. Lyon is being held in high regard by the Australians, but for me he is quite ordinary. But the Australians don't have any other choice, as he is their only experienced spinner. They never tried to groom anyone for the last 10 years or so.

I disagree. Lyon played 153 matches across all formats so far and took 526 wickets which is freaking amazing if you think about it. That is an astonishing figure for someone who hasn't even played 200 matches overall yet.

Also, he is the leading wicket-taker among foreign bowlers from outside Asia which says a lot. No wonder the Australians regard him highly.

So i'd say Lyon is doing a fair job.

If he was a pacer, then with such an average he wouldn't have got selected for the national team. For comparison, Pat Cummins have a bowling average of 22.07, while for Mitchell Starc it is 27.47.

Everything you just mentioned is completely true but at the same time, in the current generation please mention 3 top test off-spinner. Ashwin and Lyon are ranked 1st and 2nd respectively, and plz name the 3rd off spinner, IMO there is no 3rd guy.

Warne and Murli both belong to the previous generation so a comparison isn't fair imo.

It's very difficult to stay consistent in every sport which is why Lyon is an above average bowler(Not just decent). Also, other countries regard him highly too(Not just Australia) due to his epic stats. Think!

Averages and strike rates are overrated. He claimed 526 wickets in just 153 matches which says everything. Also, comparing him with past legends like Warner and Murali is downright silly.

They played way, way more matches than him and are from a different age entirely. Lyon is on his way to becoming a legend.

@JSRAW I’ll agree with you and while Lyon often doesn’t get the appreciation he truly deserves but I feel that in this case he deserves it, and to be honest at times I have criticised him but then out of the blues he gets those important wickets and helps Australia win matches. @Sithara007 his legacy is secured otherwise he wouldn’t be in the team for so long and that too a team that is known to depend on their fast bowler's and that is also enough reason for him to be given the legendary status.

The 4th Ashes test is about to start on 19th July. Australia is still leading the series by 2-1, but momentum is with England as they won the last test. What made the difference was the inclusion of Mark Wood for the third test. England bowling attack was looking toothless in the first two tests as James Anderson failed completely to get his line and length right. Only Stuart Broad was looking threatening. But in the third test, the combination of Broad and Wood managed to trouble the Australian batsmen and more importantly the lower order was cleaned up without doing much damage.

With the fourth Test match between England and Australia still a few days away, the two teams will have a good time to plan to win against each other. 

Australia is leading the series so far as Australia won the first two matches in a row but England won the last match to stay in the series. 4th match is very important for England because if they perform badly in the 4th match then they will lose that match and if they lose in the 4th match they will lose the series every player in the team must play seriously in the 4th match. 

If England win the 4th match then the final match will be really great I want England to win the 4th match and the final match will be very hard fought which one of the team will win the series.

Not just Lyon but every spinner doesn't get much credit.

Lyon still gets a fair amount of returns because he's playing for Australia, dude played 100 back to back tests without being dropped from the team. In contrast look at Ashwin, the poor guy gets dropped every now and then despite being the leading wicket-taker and have to prove his worth in every match.

It seems like there is no current in the West Indies squad and we may see an easy win in the first Test match for India at Roseau. The wins for India will be important as each win will contribute to the World Test Championship points.

Coming to the match, the captain scored the highest number of runs (20) till now and the team is struggling at 37 for 3 wickets. Ashwin managed to take 3 wickets. The match is not interesting at all if the WI batsmen fail to perform. I am expecting some better performance by team WI on their home ground.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul wasn't able to play a big innings today and was bowled by Ashwin on 12. It's too early to say where this match will be heading towards. But India no doubt have an upper hand and this match is also part of ICC Test Championship.

Yeh there is no match no competition between them, indian team are one step ahead of Thier opponent in term of bowling and batting. Unfortunately after retirement of west indies legendary palyer Thier new guys are not even capable to beat Scotland and other small teams which is very disappointing moment for such a legendary era team.
Currently west indies lose his important first three wickets in 26th over by just scoring 66, if by chance any player of west indies hold Thier wickets and play a long inning, then may be possibly they will scored 200 around runs in first inning which will be a great achievement by it self for such a weak team

West Indies won the toss and went into bat, collecting 4 wickets in 28 overs and collected 68 runs. Today West Indies batted very badly, they will be all out today, it seems that they will not be able to give a lead of 200+ runs. Kraigg Brathwaite was out for 20 runs, Tagenarine Chanderpaul was out for 12 runs, Raymon Reifer was out for 2 runs, Jermaine Blackwood was out for 14 runs. India bowled well, so far Ravichandran Ashwin bowled well and took 2 wickets, Shardul Thakur took 1 wicket, Ravindra Jadeja 1 wicket, India's spin bowling is getting better today.

That is why I have predicted that West Indies will not be able to score more than 180 runs in the first innings. because they still have many weaknesses and they are playing against a strong team like India. so it is a huge challenge for them. so I think India can very well win this Test match with West Indies. because India can play easy matches very well, they have this ability. that is why I have full confidence in India

Did you only predict that WI will not be able to score 180 runs or did you actually bet on it?

I usually bet on winning and losing but do not bet on such things as they are difficult to predict. At Lunch, West Indies are 68 for 4 wickets down. Any single partnership can easily take West Indies beyond 180 runs. Sometimes even the 8, 9, or 10 wickets make 30 - 40 runs, and a team scores beyond 180. Such bets are too risky indeed.

What a shocker. India is destroying WI as expected thanks to the miraculous spin combo of Jadeja and Ashwin. What's even more shocking is the fact that this spin combo wasn't a part of the WTC final 2023.
