Yes, England could not win because of the failure of England's bowling line. England's batsmen performed well, setting a huge target of 326 runs which was enough to win. I mentioned in a previous post on ODI Cricket that if West Indies' two players Shai Hope and Shimron Hetmyer can be set on the pitch then they can win the match. Both of them made good contributions in yesterday's match. Shai Hope scored an unbeaten 109 off 83 balls in the last match. His final finishing was impressive. However, although the England team won the World Cup in 2019 but qualified for the World Cup in 2023, their time has passed with the worst performance in this World Cup. The first ODI match against the West Indies, as England have been underperforming since the start of the World Cup, also ended in a very poor performance, leading to a loss against the West Indies. shai hope batted brilliantly where he gifted the West Indies fans with a magnificent century, while England's veteran on the other hand failed to take a single wicket but scored 98 runs. If you have noticed the erratic performance of the West Indies players then you must have noticed why their performance is erratic. They have enough power hitting batsmen and good quality bowlers in their country but none of them want to play for the national team rather they are more interested in playing franchise tournaments only. The West Indies Cricket Board cannot pay the players properly as it is natural for the players to play cricket despite the decision of the cricket board when they get the opportunity to earn crores of rupees. If the West Indies Cricket Board had given salary allowances or perks like other teams then this team would have performed as before and not qualified for the World Cup but would have performed much better.

Nothing is going to take away the fact that West Indies is a team on the decline. A few months back, during the World Cup qualifiers they lost to Zimbabwe and Netherlands in the group phase and then went on to lose to Scotland in Super6. Defeating a second string England side, who themselves are not doing very good recently is not going to matter much.

Shai Hope was the man of the match of yesterday's match when he is came into the ground to stop the mouth of the England team. Their team was in an aggressive mood yesterday.

So, this performance proved that West Indies should participate in the World Cup and they are trying to do it but unfortunately, they can't win the qualifying rounds and lose their chance to be a part of that tournament, anyway, the tournament is finished but memories are not finished we will talk about the topic until the next World Cup will not come.

But players are more interested in performing in various franchise leagues than performing in the national team. They benefit financially. This is the reason why we are seeing the performance of the West Indies national team deteriorating. But since the team failed to qualify for the last World Cup. So now maybe the West Indies management will be more aware about their squad. Perhaps we will see better performances from the West Indies squad in the future.

West Indies cricket board need to take some crucial steps to revive cricket in West indies. WI failed to qualify for ODI world cup and they are likely to miss upcoming champions trophy as well. The current series between WI and England is of very little importance as both teams are of same level. Still WI will do there best to win the series and keep there presence in international cricket.

I really missed the 2023 World Cup West Indies. West Indies have some great players and despite having such good players, they have lost the status to play in the 2023 World Cup. Salaries with the national team would always be lower than what the players get from franchise cricket. For example, even in India the top players receive around $2.5 million per year from the IPL franchises, while the national contract is worth only a fraction of that amount. And this is the case with all the cricket boards around the world. And already some of the players are choosing franchise leagues over national duty. Trent Boult of New Zealand is a perfect example. And the ICC can't do much about it.
