What happens when you catch your enemy in a game is what Barcelona did to Sevilla today. After noting that Sevilla where on there way to staying top, Barcelona had to do all they could to ensure they make Sevilla drop point, even Lionel Messi got a yellow card while the Sevilla team was flooeded with yellow. Now, the Barca team can only hope that Real Madrid do loose there next game for them to remain second on the Laliga table.

Its going to be a tough one for Real Madrid fixtures against Real Sociedad on Monday while Villarreal would be playing Atletico Madrid tomorrow. Atletico Madrid not win, there chances of winning the Laliga is almost off as, they hang by a single thread now.

Atletico stumbled too much in their last games. If they continue like this, they can miss the chance of being the champions this season. Villarreal are a very hard opponent this season but they are out-of-form now. To be able to pull themselves together, I think Atletico will manage to beat them.

Today's game is probably Barcelona's best game against a tough opponent, I've seen Barcelona played against big teams this season and I've never liked any of the those performances than that of today, they played with such energy and tried to match up to the physicality displayed by Sevilla. Both upcoming matches can be tough matches. But Atletico Madrid is likely to win it since Villarreal's performance is decreasing lately. They even cannot win a single match in the last 5 matches. While Real Madrid surely will play at home against one of a strong team in La Liga this season. But I am optimistic Real will win because they know 3 points in this match is very important.

I agree with you, I´m not a Barcelona fan, but his way of playing made me remember when Pep Guardiola was directing him, without a doubt Messi is always the protagonist, he is a player who can solve a game at any time, the other players understood each other very well with the style of play, without a doubt the football shown was exceptional.

He does. With one magnificent goal and a key pass, Messi can close a match. With a key pass, it needs a good finish from his team mate.

In past few seasons, Messi sacrifices a lot to contribute more to the Barcelona team. He accepts to play in lower areas on the field and plays as a key maker. Almost all attacking waves of Barcelona has the appearance of Messi. He makes many key passes beside the goals he scores. His team mates waste many great key passes from Messi.

I don't ignore the fact that Messi is ageing and his form is decreasing but he is still one of best players. Messi is disappointed not only because Barcelona can not win a single Champions League since the last one with Messi, Neymar, Suarez and Enrique but also because he can not accept his team mates waste his key passes.

Barca got the important win, it's not an easy thing to win in Sevilla's field. They had a great achievement today and they deserved second place. It's funny how things change so fast, a few weeks ago we couldn't think about this position for Barcelona. They have a great form, 15 matches unbeaten run and only 3 draws and 12 wins.
Atletico Madrid got only one win in last four games, they have no excuse now. Their comfortable position is long gone.

This is what supporter of Barcelona and Real Madrid expect. They hope Atletico Madrid drop more point only to see the title race look competitive until the end of the season. The standing changed so quickly after Atletico Madrid failed to win several match, this was used by Real Madrid and Barcelona to cut the difference in point. It's just that Barcelona failed to win 1 match that Madrid could possibly use to be in second place.

Atletico Madrid will face Villareal tomorrow and Real Madrid will face Real Sociedad. I hope the top two team drop point even though it look like it will be difficult to achieve. I agree that Atletico Madrid have good strength in defense and Real Madrid are sharp up front. This has put them ahead of other team.

I believe it too. They have the ability. They have a great and experienced coach Koeman. They have the world's best striker Lionel Messi. They have a stable midfield line-up. They don't just have a stable defense lineup. If they can improve the defense, their overall performance will be better. Their defense against Sevilla was pretty good. But sometimes their defenders perform so badly, which is very frustrating to watch

This will be a great match I think. Real Madrid won their last 4 games. Real Sociedad won their last 3 games. I see Real Madrid closer to winning here. "Both teams to score" also would be a good choice to bet on.

I suppose the key consideration is that a terrible season for Messi would still be a wonderful season for anyone else. The standards he has set over the years are so remarkable, but we have just grown used to them. A 'terrible' season for Messi means simply that his performances have slipped from the miraculous to the merely brilliant. This season's La Liga top scorers:

Spot on, you are right! That is what annoys me the most though as for anybody else's this season would be still considered as a good one but not for Messi.
That is the burden of these great champions of our times: either the are always performing 110% or it is never enough.
I only hope he can make the right decision fro himself as football cannot see somebody like him slowly falling into his own hole.

yeah I agree, they are trying to win something but in my honest opinion, they will not win anything. They are facing real problems when they play versus top teams. You only have to make a recap of their latest losses and you will see what I am talking about. Messi needs to be motivated because it is like he only can do his real game style versus low-quality teams (with due respect) like Huesca, Betis, Valladolid, etc.
I think we will see a nice ens La Liga season between Real Madrid and Atletico de Madrid but Barca season is over, that's my personal opinion.

I was expecting Sevilla not to lose against Barcelona and we got a result that was really surprising for me. Barcelona managed to defeat even this Sevilla away which have been great in the La Liga recently. Barcelona are trying their best to win the league title. It could happen because the teams around them are also underperforming the likes of Real Madrid, Sevilla, Real Sociedad and the table leader Atletico Madrid are also finding feet in there previous games, Barcelona is no different they are just lucky teams around them always do them a big favour whenever they lose. I'm not impressed with Koeman's game so far and it would be a lot worse if Messi leaves.

I was expecting Sevilla not to lose against Barcelona and we got a result that was really surprising for me. Barcelona managed to defeat even this Sevilla away which have been great in the La Liga recently. Barcelona are trying their best to win the league title. As long as they maintain their awesome effort, they can manage to do it.

I know that Barcelona lost to Sevilla in the cup and that is why it may look like something is not really cool for them since Barcelona seems like a much much better team so when they lose to Sevilla that looks like Barcelona could be worse than Sevilla but that is not true. But, the reality is that Barcelona was always a better team, but they didn't play that well for a while and that's it, normally we are talking about a better team but a better team that had a bad match against a worse team that's it.

I personally feel like Barcelona would win that game 9 out of 10 times and that was just that one time and nothing more. They are also doing awesome in the league as well, if ATM or Real end up losing just a few games they could actually even become champions.

The funny thing is, this is the year ATM seems the greatest of their history ever, while Barcelona has been the most horrible the recent memory and even with all of that we are still looking at Barcelona becoming better than ATM in just a few game if ATM loses. This is the power of a true huge team.

It can be a quite close game I think. Villarreal haven't been winning a match for six weeks. I've no doubt that they will try their best to get a win finally. Atletico lost one of their last two matches and the result of the other was a draw. They also lost to Chelsea in the Champions League match. They will absolutely want to improve their morale by winning this. I think both teams will score and Atletico will succeed in winning by a 1 score difference.
