The only team that won from that fixture was Barcelona, Barcelona are now 3 points behind Atletico Madrid (with game at hand) and 2 points ahead of Real Madrid. I couldn't have wished for a better result, now the league race is pretty much wild open.

Atletico really deserves better from the game, they had greater chances to go 2-3 goals, Carrasco and Suarez squandered some great chances, however, the latter played impressively.

Good result for the Madrid derby. As you said, maybe Atletico Madrid deserved to win this game but some of the chances didn't turn into goal. Real Madrid's late goal was something Atletico Madrid didn't want after they managed to keep Real Madrid players from scoring for nearly 90 minute. They were really unlucky and now Laliga is getting hotter.

Just like what we've been saying the past couple of days, the Madrid derby is a good chance for Barcelona to close the gap. I thought ATL was going to win it but nice late equalizer there by Benzema. They deserve to get a point for being the better team in my opinion.

It was quite tense at the end of the match, but Benzema managed to maximize the chance to score. 1-1 is a fair result for them and Barcelona have to thank Real Madrid, in my opinion. Now the point difference between Barcelona and Atletico Madrid is only 3 point left, but Atletico Madrid still have one game left in hand and that still allows them to make the difference in points to 6. But the most important thing is that Barcelona almost managed to match Atletico Madrid's point. It only takes one more win for Barcelona and hoping Atletico Madrid lose, the point will be the same.

Everything will be decided in the last matches. The difference at the moment does not mean anything. Atletico Madrid must get out of the downturn as soon as possible, otherwise they will not win La Liga. Barcelona is now on the rise and it is not known how long it will last. It was a very tough game, this derby is always like that, Cholo Simeone always shows his best when he plays with Real Madrid, he has to wait and see how the league continues to develop.

Absolutely, this game is all about passion and rivalry and is a must see, even if it was not as much as a display of great play, but I guess Spanish futbol is, in a way, a show of the people who attend: not much planning, plenty of effort and, sometimes, a fair result.

They have a bit of time to digest this draw and move on as they will need to concentrate and stay focused for the match with Biblao which is happening on March 10th because by recovering that game they could consolidate their leadership in La Liga.

I think that they are absolutely unhappy with the result because they were nearly winning it but Benzema saved his team with the goal he scored in the last minutes. This result was very useful for Barcelona as they made the point diff 3 with Atletico. But in 2 days, Atletico are gonna play against Bilbao like you said and it is also their missing game. So, it is very important for them to fully focus on that game and get a win. Otherwise, they will be under a big threat of Barcelona for the lead.

it is difficult to say. At the moment, Atletico is not in the best mood. Despite the fact that they are still on top of the competition. The lead they had was overwhelming, but is now completely reduced.

Suarez tried his best for Atletico Madrid in this season and in this match. I am very surprised to see how they lost their points too easily like in past several matches in La Liga. It is not only about the lost 2 points against Real Madrid because of the late goal from Benzama.

Atletico Madrid is repeating the mistakes that Barcelona did in the past season and gave the title to Real Madrid. Will Barcelona win the La Liga after late flip against Atletico Madrid? I think their players are feeling better with the new President: Joan Laporta. Real Madrid can be out of the competition but Barcelona is there, with 3 points less and if Atletico lose their points in one or two matches, the competition will become hotter.

I don't think the chance for Real Madrid is high as same as for Atletico Madrid and Barcelona. Atletico has been under serious pressure from Barcelona and their confidence is not good at this period. I hope they will go through it and win their first La Liga with the new generation and a core player for their next decade: Joao Felix.

Chances that Messi stay in Barca is on ATH lol. Maybe a bet should be started, before that I was sure that he will leave but now I am pretty confident he will stay. Nevertheless, Barca couldn't count for him forever...

Yeah, even Sevilla was able to be part of those 3 if they didn't mess badly their last 2 games. I believe the competition will be between ATM and Barca at the end.

I'm not a fan of Barcelona but they are one of the teams that I like in the La Liga. But I don't think that staying at Barcelona will be a good thing for Messi. Because it is very obvious that Barcelona will bid farewell to the CL this season. It has been 5 years that they haven't been the champions and it will be 6 now. It is also unclear whether they will manage to win the La Liga also. And I must admit that I don't like the squad too. I think they need better players for various positions to be able to play more competitive in the CL and win it.

Reading the sport news today I noticed something I wanted to share here too: if you guys take Serie A, Premier League and La Liga you will see that two teams from the same city are fighting to win the title on each league. Surprising, uh?

If there was no Lionel Messi in Barcelona, I don't think the name Barcelona club will be heard again because most people only know Messi as a mainstay player and become a Barcelona icon because of his extraordinary and agile game and always scores goals.
Yes, that's right, like CR7 when he was at Real Madrid and became an icon of Real Madrid and now Real Madrid is not as famous as when there was CR7.

I really expected Atletico to win against Real Madrid and take their revenge of the 2-0 loss this season. They were really close to make it too but Benzema literally saved the team with his goal (88'). Benzema really have had a big role on Real Madrid's matches so far with his goals and he is the most scorer of the team now. Even though Atletico still have a missing game, Barcelona got what they wanted for this week.

Must be they are happy with the result, 1-1 is not a bad result to get against Real Madrid, plus they are their closes rival so with this they managed to not make them get closer, if Real won that would put ATM at 58 points versus Real at 56 points, so just one game difference that would be very hard even if ATM has one game in hand with that. Now ATM is at 59 and one game in hand, if they win that they are 62 points, Barcelona as closest is at 56 points, that is 6 point difference.

It is still at a level that could be closed, we are not out of the woods just yet, but it is still a quite good result for them. There is about 13 games to 14 games left (13 for barca and real, 14 for ATM) and that means ATM needs to manage to lose less than 2 games compared to barca, is that doable? Surely it is, but it is still way too close to make a call just yet.
