I wouldn't say that Real Madrid refused to fight for Haaland, but there have been a couple of things at work and I believe as a player at that stage one of the dreams is to be coached by Pep Guardiola for sure. The only option that makes the most sense that PSG can do at this time is to offer Mbappe to any team that is willing to pay him a high price. Mabppe has stated that he wants to stay next season or at least as long as his contract lasts, but after that he will decide his future. I don't think, Real Madrid president will allow him to go this season than to sign another contract with him as a last opportunity for him to improve next season because he has done well for Real Madrid in some seasons despite he didn't achieve any trophy this season. Even Real Madrid  president know that if he allow Ancelotti to go, there are many teams waiting to embrace him into their team because he is among the talented coach in la Liga league and they are ready to use any amount of money to sign him. I don't think Manchester city will release Erling Haaland easily, because they have more to achieve from him before they can put him for sale so that they will not experience what other teams are experiencing by keeping their potential players so long in their team.

Madrid took a risk and I think its worth it. They want to wait for Mbappe for one more season. Mbappe has only one season left in his contract, so there's no point breaking the bank to sign him now. If they get a long term replacement for Benzema now, it might be impossible to get Mbappe again next summer.

I hope to see Ancelotti stay in Rel Madrid especially when we know Real Madrid can hire better players for the next season and Ancelotti can have more tools for his work there, but for any reason if Ancelotti leaves Real Madrid this can't be easy find a coach for Real Madrid to replace him.
