They are similar to Newcastle and I believe they may have a tough next season like Newcastle did after their early success. Girona is probably going to make it into the Champions League, but then they have to test their limits when they are playing in three competitions at the same time. We will see how much the investment fund behind Girona is willing to invest into the team for the next season, but they won't be lost and get straight out relegated again. I can imagine that the long-term goal is to establish Girona at the very top in La Liga next to Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico.

Girona's coach himself has said that his target is not to win LaLiga but only to enter the UCL zone because in terms of players, Girona is not enough to compete with Real Madrid. But I respect Girona's game so far, they can be in second place and able to compete with Barcelona and Atletico. I'm sure Girona's current target is not only to qualify for the Champions League, but they will continue to try to maintain second place until the end of the season.
