Because Girona will continue to press from the bottom while maintaining their position in the top four of the standings, as will Barcelona. Xavi squad must work harder to finish in runnerup position, they must continue to be consistent if they want to overtake Girona again.

It was a massively important win for Girona as they have been losing too many points recently, but now with this win I think that there is no way they will drop out of the Champions League qualifiers. Athletic Bilbao is now 12 points behind, but has one game in hand. Still though, given that Atletico is struggling, it is more likely that they will get under pressure than it is for Girona.

It is too bad that Girona has lost three out of their last five games, since Real Madrid has had three draws during that time. It could be much closer than it now is.

Back again. Girona played really well in the second half - much better than they did in the first half and Osasuna didn't capitalized on their second half chances. That foul on Savio should've been a penalty by all means but the referee refused to give it. With the referee drama in the La liga in recent weeks, I'm begging to appreciate the officiating in other leagues like EPL, Bundesliga, etc. But in the end, Girona still added an "assurance" goal.

Beautiful win by Girona to get them back to winning ways and close the evening.

Real Madrid will host Celta vigo tomorrow so that's another game to look forward to. I'm taking the ML bet for Madrid to win at home. It's currently @1.29 odds on BcGame. My bias is that real Madrid dropped points in their last league and played horribly against Leipzig in the UCL earlier this week. I expect them to take all 3 points tomorrow.

I didn't watch the Girona - Osasuna match, but from the statistics of the match 2-0 the result they didn't deserve was 3-0.

Girona will next face Getafe and Real Betis. If they play freely without pressure, they will get points.

Savio was able to take a shot on the 86th minutes to seal up their victory, and left their visitors hopeless, with no point in the match.

Girona have played 10 straight games at home unbeaten,and this is a good record for them. Osassuna was unable to score any goal and allowed their host to win them on clean sheet. Portu was the MVP of the match because he scored the first goal which made Girona to stay strong in the game, until the back up goal was scored.

I write right now in the Champions League thread about them, because i was having high hopes of seeing them winning against Inter Milan, but man they are playing horrible right now. And they are not longer so effective in defense like in the past, seems like they are suffering so much for not having Griezman in the starter 11.

I think inter milan is more favored to be able to advance to the next round. besides in the first leg inter milan has also won the match with a score of 1-0. this season also inter milan is very difficult to beat. with a 1-0 inter milan advantage I think it will play more defensively to maintain its advantage. but of course the starting eleven still uses its best line up.

Girona didn't win any games against Real Betis for more than five years you said. Of course not, since Girona is only part of La Liga since the season 2022/2023.

To me it looks that Real Madrid is quite calm and they could switch gears if they really needed to. They will have to play two games without Bellingham, but it's not like they couldn't compensate for him. At least the level that's required in La Liga.

There is still going to be a clasico in April. If for some reason Real Madrid does lose some points until then, maybe it could be a close ending of the season. But I doubt that Barcelona will beat them in the Bernabeu stadium.

I think Girona will try to break their bad streak when they face Real Betis. It is true as you said that Girona was unable to record a single win against Real Betis in their last 5 meetings. But in the match that takes place at the end of this month, I think Girona will be the favorite as the winner against Real Betis. But before that, Girona will first face Getafe, where in this match it is clear that Getafe is in an unstable position in terms of their performance, so Girona can take advantage of this opportunity to seek victory.

Apart from that, in today match, Girona has succeeded in breaking their bad trend by returning to winning ways. However, Girona needs to add another goal to their score because this Osasuna team is looking like they would equalize if given the opportunity. After Barcelona defeated Mallorca yesterday to move the second spot of the Spanish La Liga table, many people were of the opinion that Girona will likely struggle to finish the season in the top four of the league at the end of the season but because I've been following the performances of Girona since the start of the season, I had a different thought as I've always maintained that Girona will certainly finish the season in the in the top four but main concern was how they'll manager to play in the UEFA Champions League competition next season if Manchester City also finishes in gbe top four of the English Premier League table because there's a rule by UEFA that restricts two or more clubs that are owned by one owner to participate in the UEFA Champions League competition in the same season. Girona and Manchester City share the same ownership.

Despite the fact that Girona might not play in the UEFA Champions League competition next season even if they finish in the top four of the Spanish league, I'm still very sure that they'll fight to finish in the top four. They're currently leading in their league game against Osasuna and I'm very optimistic that they're gonna seal the win and retain the second place in the league table

I can say yesterday Mallorca was not lucky because they could even get one point from this match and make Barcelona stop with a better performance but that's to some superstar players Barcelona had in this match, they scored the goals and made the game 1-0 to get the full three points from this match.
However, winning the game against Mallorca for a team like Barcelona is not something special and if they want to make more progress they have to try much harder than this to get themselves closer to the top of the tale and are with teams like Girona and Real Madrid which can even make Xavi to take a deep breath.

We see many surprises in the match lately and shift in the standings for example, like an unexpected defeat of Atletico Madrid today of course no one thinks about that but I understand this situation, Atletico Madrid has no any  target than taking place in the top 4 so even though they lost in this match it did not affect their position and they were still safe there moreover, their competitors Athletic Club also did the same thing.

However, Atletico Madrid cannot afford to make repeated mistakes because the difference in points is not too far and if Atletico Madrid do it once a week then Athletic Club can take advantage to get closer, basically they have to pay attention to how Athletic Club plays.

Getafe is a football team from Spain, and they entered La Liga with a top-11 position. For me, it is one of the teams that is still not ready to compete with big clubs who are opponents in several La Liga matches. Anyone knows the reason why Xavi decided to put Lewandowski on the bench? I haven't been following any Barcelona games recently, but he is still their best scorer with 12 goals. Although I think that this is not a good statistic for him after 28 games. It is actually quite a poor performance by the former best player in the world. Ferran Torres is the second best scorer with only 7 goals. The good old Barcelona times are over when they had like three top scorers on almost the same level.

Important victory for Valencia and 3 vital points that counts for that 6th place battle that will lead towards Conference League and to be honest , Valencia deserves a chance to fight for that place and with just 3 points behind Sociedad , I think in the next 3-4 games , Valencia will actually dethrone them. This team is young , motivated and very talented but also having a strong bench with more young talented players and this will play a very important factor for those last games where some teams will simply run out of fuel and will lose points here and there...but won't be the case for Valencia.

They have been really messy lately, only getting a draw against Almeria and losing to Athletic Bilbao in the Copa Del Rey, currently they're 1 goal behind even though time is running out. I don't think we can expect much for their second leg in the UCL, how can they beat Inter if they just play against Cadiz, they can fall behind and haven't even been able to score a goal until now.

However, usually teams like this will get very different results for the matches that will be played in the Champions League later. Because after all, Atletico's position has also lost 1-0 on aggregate and perhaps, Atletico is really preparing for the second leg later. But indeed, losing in this match against Cadiz with a score of 2-0 is completely unacceptable result. Because, for example, if Atletico is preparing for the second leg against Inter, atleast Atletico can still hold Cadiz to a draw. But what happened was that Atletico was really messed up at thismoment, because eventhough Atletico were good in statistics in this match, but Atletico still lost by Cadiz and also with a very embarrassing score like that, because Cadiz was also just a mediocre team that was only in the relegation zone. They still deserve to be in the La Liga title race if they can consistently get full points when facing small teams, but what I saw seemed unreal, it was a shame to lose to a team like Cadiz. If they manage to get 3 points against Cadiz, at least it will reduce their gap with Barcelona and Giron and even have the opportunity to get rid of Real Madrid. What other motivation should they have when playing in the UCL later? with Cadiz alone they can't even get 1 point, where's our old Atletico Madrid who was the European team with the strongest defense?

I agree that Mallorca actually has quality that is not too bad, in fact they are able to provide good resistance against top teams, they can even steal points from Girona who are ranked second in the league standings, they need to be more consistent and disciplined when playing, be calmer in reading the opponent's playing patterns so that they do not sink into the relegation zone
