Ethereum has been steadily on the rise for a good while now, and this first half of Q1 2020 has proven that they have brought that same energy into the new decade. They have started 2020 with a bang, more than doubling in value in just 2 months.

if seen from the price increase performance Ethereum is better than Bitcoin at the moment,
but to shift bitcoin from the first position I think it is something that will never happen

Etherium it will be always in the bottom of bitcoin, We all know on what bitcoin can do so that's why its always in a number one spot. It was not easy to surpass bitcoin because its have a high volume even do some coins in the bottom was not capable to be a first seat. Maybe in a future their will be a coins that could be get the number one spot but for now its always bitcoin can do that.

I don't think so because the Bitcoin price has doubled after the discount period, so Bitcoin is generally more profitable than Ethereum. You should compare the lowest prices these 2 coins achieved in March and you will be surprised at what is happening at the moment. Of course Bitcoin is still the coin that helps investors make the most profit out of all the coins I know.

That ain't gonna happen, even if 10 years from now, bitcoin will remain on the top, otherwise it will not be able to rise back again.
People trust bitcoin because it started this whole market, in short, it created the market, that is why there is an altcoins because there is a bitcoin, its the Apha of the crypto world and people are not looking for anything better than bitcoin so altcoins would not be a competition.

Exactly, it is not a wise decision to compare with Bitcoin position, Bitcoin is always the father of cryptocurrency. Compared to other altcoin ETH has a higher probability to increase its price, but it is not possible for Ethereum to dominate the price of Bitcoin, From the past 2 weeks the price of ETH is slowly recovering in the market and it doesn't mean it will dominate the Bitcoin.

In my opinion, Ethereum will forever be just an altcoin and never have a chance to overcome Bitcoin because Bitcoin is the dominant coin in this market. However, the crypto market is never predictable and depends on how it evolves so I believe there is no certainty. Of course, Ethereum is still the No. 2 coin but will soon be surpassed because Ethereum is now very bad and does not have many recent updates.

This is simply untrue. ETH is one of the most developed coins out there, with an extremely active community. The move to 2.0 is imminent, and with it the start of staking. This is a profoundly important shift. ETH has a well-established roadmap, and has done for years. Progress along this roadmap has been significant, and continues. If we add on to this the fact that ETH is far and away the biggest smart contract platform, and has one of the strongest use-cases in all of crypto... then I don't see how it can be characterised as 'very bad'.

OP is hoping ETH will dominate this market in 2020. But now we are in 2020 and ETH is still standing and has not made any progress yet. Btw Bitcoin is the king of this market and there will not be any altcoins that can surpass it

If it was a 5-10 year perspective, then I would say yes. But not this year for sure.
In general, ETH is developing much faster than bitcoin and in some areas (for example smart contracts), it is an undeniable leader. ETH processes more transactions than bitcoin and after switching to ETH2 this gap will increase even more significantly. I think in order to remain the top-1 bitcoin should accelerate its development.

All coins behind Bitcoin are altcoins and will never be able to surpass because this is the father of the crypto market. If you look at Bitcoin's technology, this is a very old technology and not often used for payment. I think Bitcoin is only suitable as an asset because now there are thousands of coins with technology superior to Bitcoin and completely applicable to daily life.

what do you mean when you say movement ? you mean its speed ?  or you mean its demand   . demand of eth is much lower than demand of bitcoin but speed of eth is more faster than btc .  you said its possible for eth to rank the top 1 spot but why your doubting that it wont happen this year  ?  i heard eth do also have an eth 2.0 , this upgrade should be enough to compete on btc's halving  .  i love eth too as much as you love eth but we cant blame the public's choice .  numbers dont lie  , btc is still the massess favorite so far

I personally have little faith that ethereum or any other alt can take Bitcoin's place because Bitcoin always dominated the alts and they always followed Bitcoin.

Ethereum is great but can't be mentioned in same breadth as bitcoin (and can't become better than bitcoin in the next decade). From basic mathematics, it will take eth about x10 in rate to surpass the market cap of btc, assuming all factors remain constant and btc inclusive.

If we will compare on the value only, ETH might not be able to surpass bitcoin on the ranking.

The list or ranking is not based on an asset value, it's based on the its marketcap and ETH could surpass BTC in rank number 1 even if its lower than the current price of bitcoin now, due to their total supply differences.

Bitcoin has 18,366,587 BTC in circulation while ETH has a huge 110,826,234 ETH... we can do the math from there
