Hi Rassah, I talked to someone last night who works for a great non-profit (giving wheelchairs to kids in 3rd world countries) that might want to start taking Bitcoins. I instantly thought of you! Any advice I should send his way? Thanks.

He said he was not sure what the directors would think but he was very interested! He had never even heard of Bitcoin until I mentioned it to him. Of course there are many great organizations out there that could use support but this is one that I thought might be open to allowing Bitcoin donations on their site. Not sure why anyone would not want to? I guess they don't really get the potential?

There's a lot of god in their website description, but all they seem to do is give out wheel chairs to anyone who needs one, so I don't think it's a problem. Lend For America apparently does have a donation page here http://lendforamerica.org/contact.html Any comments on whether they qualify?

It's not my money that Bitcoin100 will be donating. Fair enough. Thanks for your endorsement though. Basically, it's a simple process to vet the NPOs, then give enough time for anybody to express their concerns, whatever they may be. For instance: http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?domain=freewheelchairmission.org&prog_id=GoDaddyDomain ID:D68143130-LROR Domain Name:FREEWHEELCHAIRMISSION.ORG Created On:22-Mar-2001 14:41:50 UTC Last Updated On:20-Mar-2013 18:50:31 UTC Expiration Date:22-Mar-2015 14:41:50 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:Spot Domain LLC dba Domainsite.com (R87-LROR) Status:OK http://web.archive.org/web/*/freewheelchairmission.org http://web.archive.org/web/20021122155532/http://www.freewheelchairmission.org/index_fast.htmThen make sure the NPOs are not heavily religious-based. This one passes! I'm now going to see how to address Rassah's concern.

Another request. Can we use an innovative financial instrument to donate to a charity that focuses on innovative finance? From Vanessa Our charity is Lend for America (lendforamerica.org). We offer a platform to help college students practice microfinance in the U.S. Students raise small funds to make microloans to disadvantaged business owners in the community next to their university. We've grown from 3 campus MFIs in 2009 to 24 today and we offer several programs to help students including online toolkits, in-person training during site visits, an annual conference, and a year-long fellowship program. We were founded by and still remain within the legal structure of the Intersect Fund Corporation - tax ID #: 36-4636828. The Intersect Fund was founded by students at Rutgers University in 2008 to serve small business owners throughout New Jersey.
Please let me know what other information you may need.
This charity was actually introduced to us by DavidBAL, who found out about us at the Amsterdam conference, and was also at the Atlanta conference. The first thing I notice, though, is that they don't have a donation page. Hmmm As you've lightly touched upon, The Intersect Fund is the parent entity: http://who.godaddy.com/whois.aspx?k=61s/TEfclYDjhittscQD7ocgaSDf62z48ufwU3MZRuT8G6wTsA2hPFxE3+jhD+/P5UuheAwIp4w=&domain=lendforamerica.org&prog_id=GoDaddyDomain ID:D163745893-LROR Domain Name:LENDFORAMERICA.ORG Created On:31-Oct-2011 17:27:53 UTC Last Updated On:18-Oct-2013 05:06:42 UTC Expiration Date:31-Oct-2015 17:27:53 UTC Sponsoring Registrar:eNom, Inc. Rassah, it looks like the Intersect Fund is the best place to send an endowment.

Regarding this Just had a Skype call with Amy and Pradeep of the Primate Education Network. Their fiscal sponsor http://trustforconservationinnovation.org/ does the donation receiving and processing for them, and handles quite a few charities. Amy and Pradeep want to try to convince their sponsor to accept bitcoins, but mostly had some questions regarding legal issues and regulatory stuff. Just got an update today: Pradeep S.
Hi Dmitry!
I have good news! Our organization's fiscal sponsor (for whom you answered all those questions) has finally approved of using Bitcoin as an experiment. We're signing up for coinbase on Monday most likely and enabling contributions soon thereafter.
Thank you for your time and continuous support.
Despite the delay, I hope we still have the opportunity to seek your contribution. Please let us know. Thanks again for everything.
So, looks like we'll be sending out another donation soon

Hi -
The Intersect Fund was founded by students at Rutgers University back in 2009. Lend for America (LFA) was founded by students who created the Intersect Fund along with students at other universities. They created LFA to have a platform to share resources and engage in peer discussion. At the time it made sense for the Intersect Fund to house all of LFA's backend because it was much easier when LFA was getting started. LFA has a separate budget and bank account but we do not have separate financial statements.
If its easier for you to use the Intersect Fund's donation page, that's fine. Let me know, thanks!
Personally, I'm not sure what the difference would be between putting the donation page on their charity, or their parent entity's page.

I use the word proven loosely, for it's a forgone conclusion that they are, leaving it to others to offer up proof if that's not the case. I found an interesting charity thanks to Vivienne Harr who rang the bell: http://www.notforsalecampaign.org/She's the 9 year old in the middle, next to some dude on her right (your left).

Hey everyone. Quick question- I told Vanessa to set up a coinbase account for the donation. Did I tell her correctly? Just a suggestion, as some of the orgs tiptoe into the space might be useful if BTC 100 had a small welcome packet the Director could use as a guide.
Couldn't be more thankful for your support of LFA, they do the most amazing work and they really count and stretch every penny.
Cheers!
David
