Looks like they've been aware of Bitcoin since at least May of this year, thus probably won't qualify, sad to say.

I should add that we put up the donation buttons (litecoin too) directly in response to hearing about your offer, in order to meet your qualifications. Previously we had only accepted flattr. We also added a way for people to mine us bitcoin for the same reasons (also to promote these techniques & technologies). The fact that we posted a story about bitcoin once doesn't mean we accepted bitcoin previous to now, we did not. We saw that great conference panel about bitcoin for non profits & charity just recently, and wrote to you within days, but only after setting up our home page and wallet to meet the terms as described by your website

My main concern is in how this is a charity and not a new aggregator/blog. Antiwar.com actually goes around (in public) raising awareness of issues and does some charity work. Them being at the San Jose conference, raising money for issues (and working to promote other charities, like Sean's Outpost), was what convinced me that they may qualify.

This would be ideal for the all the fine NPO's that may not qualify for a Bitcoin 100 endowment, but may have no real problem qualifying for a bitcoindf endowment.

A while back, Josh penned the following.

We have been calling and explaining bitcoin to a number of charities and trying to get them on board.  It's not exactly a quick or easy process.

If you've got some, by all means, submit them and we'll review them and/or add them as appropriate.  The BitcoinDF site is not finished, but we did want to get something up to move things forward.  That's why it was labeled as a sneak peek.

It has been more than one year since I contacted an NGO close to my heart. I was in contact with the Board of Directors, with BitPay, discussed things with Bruno since 04.July.2012.

Now finally, I am happy to announce that BeVolunteer, the NGO behind BeWelcome, accepts Bitcoin as donations!

Some of you might know Couchsurfing? The biggest hospitality community, bringing together people from all over the world. They turned for-profit some time ago. Here comes BeWelcome, a registered non-profit NGO, community-driven, democratic, fair. And a pleasant bunch of people to hang out with. Which are over 50.000 members, by the way.

I've been a member of the board of directors of BeWelcome for a couple of months now, I proposed to allow BTC donations a month ago and I changed the text on the donation page this week (after I set up Bitpay). I'll make sure we'll add Bitcoin logo as well.

I'm taking it one step at a time, there was some animosity towards BTC at first.  The animosity has slightly decreased after I pointed out that Paypal has at times taken up to 28% of a donation, well, a 1 euro donation, but still.
I hope we'll have a proper BeWelcome Bitcoin wallet before 2016.
