Does anyone want to volunteer to check and vet the growing list of charities? Basically check whois to make sure they're not brand new, check webarchive to see that they haven't been receiving bitcoin for a while, and check that they are a legit secular non-political charity? Bruno seems to have disappeared (probably got hit in the head by barnwood again) Just blast me a PM, poking me, Rassah, next time, for sometimes I get on a tangent I can't shake.

From: Aid Idrizovic
Hi,
My name is Aid Idrizovic and I am the founder of the Rebuilding Roots Foundation. Our mission is to provide the resources and facilities to children in need that will help them become our leaders of tomorrow. I wouldn’t want to waste your time rambling about the company and its goals so I’ll keep it concise. But if you would like some information on our company and I feel taking a glance at our website will be the most helpful and informative.
http://www.rebuildingroots.org
Currently we have put an option to accept Bitcoin donations on our Donate page (Under how to help in the main menu).
I have also noticed the $1000 worth of Bitcoin offer. If we meet your requirements and you guys decide to follow through with that, your company will be added to our Partner page. Since we are starting up, that is all we can really offer but look to get some our company gear in the mail as we get bigger.
If there are any questions for me, please let me know.
Thanks in advance.

Founded of Quick N' Easy Buy in 2009 as a small hobby. It was not expected that this would be a business but after my parent's construction business fell with the 2008 market, it gave them a reason to invest in my little venture. Within months we were up and running as a full business and now we are pushing to get on the top spot of online retail. This experience has given me experience with venture start-ups, financial experience, allowed me to encompass a full retail experience and much more.
Founder Rebuilding Roots Foundation July 2013 – Present (8 months)
The Rebuilding Roots Foundation has been founded to provide the means of assisting kids who are less fortunate around the globe. Our ultimate goal is to provide the facilities and resources for all the children around the world that will help them become our leaders of tomorrow’s world.

So how does this work? I just joined an organization called "Purshoeing Joy", which just sent almost 5,000 pairs of shoes to people in Guatemala. I'm out of Fort Myers and I do all their marketing, the founder is down there right now actually distributing the first batch of shoes we were able to gather in Georgia mostly. The founder is terrified of Bitcoin, but I'm very much invested in the idea.
Are there minimum requirements?
Dan
Only requirement is that the charity is secular, non-political, and has a website that it can stick a bitcoin donation onto. If he's terrified of Bitcoin, just use a merchant processor that will convert coins to dollars or euros or whatever. We commonly suggest using BitPay as the payment provider, but you're more than welcome to use any others that are available. With rare exceptions, we rather have the website live on the interwebs for at least a year. Murphy, I see you attend Vanderbilt. I had a good friend who was a professor there, named Barbara Wallston. She used to attend Writers Nights in Nashville on Sunday night for the sole purpose to dance, of which nobody dances during such, for all practical purposes, but I would dance with her, for nobody else would given her weight and other non attributes. It was a shock to use all to learn not only how she passed, but why. She broke her leg while attending a function in New York, and was given medicine to relieve the pain, instructed to see her family physician once she got back to Nashville, of which she did, of course. He too, prescribed more medicide, of which when took together killed her. Ironically, she just penned an exposé in the Nashville Banner trying to bring awareness to ending such practice. http://www.feministvoices.com/barbara-strudler-wallston/Barbara Strudler was raised in a household that defied traditional gender roles. Her mother was a powerful executive and her father took on a job as a mail carrier, which allowed him enough flexibility with his hours to spend more time taking care of his children. Her parents fostered her scientific abilities as a child and Strudler became a math scholar in high school and eventually a math major at Cornell University. Strudler also minored in psychology and it was in her psychology class that she met her future husband, Kenneth Wallston. After graduating from Cornell in 1965, Barbara Strudler Wallston joined her husband at the University of Connecticut at Storrs, where he was completing his PhD. Dissatisfied with her career prospects in mathematics, Strudler Wallston entered a master’s program in counselling and guidance. She earned her degree in one year, and quickly found a job at the university as a financial aid counsellor. Even while working for the university, however, Strudler Wallston maintained her interest in psychology. She audited several courses and assisted her husband in his psychological research. A short while after starting at the University of Connecticut, Kenneth Wallston was offered a position at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, and so the couple packed up and moved west. Rather than look for another position in academic counselling, Strudler Wallston decided to go back to school full time and work on her MA and later PhD in psychology. She studied social and personality psychology and much of her work focused on sex roles. This research area, along with her involvement in a women’s support group in 1970, helped form her feminist identity and paved the way for years of feminist scholarship. Before finishing her PhD, Kenneth Wallston was offered yet another position, this time at Vanderbilt University’s School of Nursing in Nashville, and so they moved again. While there, Strudler Wallston completed her dissertation and worked as project director for Kenneth’s research. His work at the time considered various factors influencing the amount of information patients were willing to disclose to nurses. Strudler Wallston’s involvement in this project got her interested in the psychology of health and health care, and inspired her collaboration with her husband on health locus of control. Their work in this area led to the development of the Health Locus of Control Scale, which evaluates an individual’s beliefs about the amount of control they have over their own health (internal locus) versus the amount they believe their health care practitioners have over their health (external locus). Her time in Nashville proved to be a time of immense personal change. She became involved in a seven step program that helped inmates become working members of society following their release from prison. She was touched by the lives of these individuals, to the point where she visited the prison every week. It was also at this time that Strudler Wallston and her husband divorced. Despite their decision to end the marriage, their work relationship remained strong. The two went on to collaborate on countless research projects. Strudler Wallston is described as having had boundless energy and dedication to her profession. She worked non-stop and even managed to fit in two visiting professorships while on sabbatical. She helped form the Association for Women in Psychology as well as APA’s Division 35 (Society for the Psychology of Women), for which she served as president. Her work in health psychology also led to her involvement in the development of APA’s Division 38 (Division of Health Psychology). Though she was passionate about the areas in which her research focused, she understood the importance of sharing knowledge and theory and promoted interdisciplinary research. Strudler Wallston, while discussing Division 35, is quoted as saying: We must divide our energies between strengthening a separate psychology of women and working for its integration. Our Division and Journal provide a power base from which to operate, but we must not let them become comfortable ghettos from which we never emerge nor second class dwellings, to be used only when there is nowhere to go (as cited in Russo, 1990, p 280). The topics Strudler Wallston studied showed her breadth of knowledge when it came to psychology, with research in health, qualitative studies, minority issues, social justice and dual career couples. However, throughout her work Strudler Wallston maintained her feminist approach. Beginning in 1979, she, along with Rhoda Unger and Virginia O’Leary, took on the task of editing the newsletter for the Society for the Advancement of Social Psychology. In the two issues they edited, they focused on issues concerning gender roles. The newsletters were so popular that they decided to publish a book based on this work, entitled Women, Gender and Social Psychology (1985). That same year, Studler Wallston, Unger and O’Leary were awarded AWP’s Distinguished Publication Award. After a short but illustrious career in academia and research, Strudler Wallston passed away in her early 40s in 1987. Colleagues, friends and students remember her fondly as someone who inspired creativity and motivated hard work. “To work as Barbara’s colleague was to find one’s own boundaries extended, one’s own possibilities expanded,” To this day, every time I hear or read about Vanderbilt, I'm reminded of her. She was found dead in her condo, laying on the floor, drowned in her own body fluid, due to how the medicine prescribed from two different doctors interacted. There were four memorial services for her, all packed, during the week following her passing. I attending all four. After hearing testimonials after testimonials of all the people she helped, and was in the process of helping, I couldn't believe that she took time out for me to help get my mind straight after a very recent breakup, as a friend, not as a client, a week prior to her passing. She even let me sleep overnight at her home on the daybed. Apologies for not editing for grammar, for my eyes are wet for some reason. ~Bruno Kucinskas PS: Your org doesn't qualify.

New ones:
From: Galen Douglas
Hi Rassah,
I run a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and I am interested in learning more about Bitcoin 100’s donations and bitcoin donations in general. I would love to put a Bitcoin donation link on our website but I am not sure if there are any legal implications I need to be aware of. I would love to know more!
Projecthandup.org
I have everything setup but bitpay’s donation button code generator has a bug so I am waiting for them to fix it. I have a bitcoin donation page with everything on it but the donation form’s formatting is messed up.
And from Seth of brotherlyhands.com: P.S.: This is totally separate from Brotherly Hands. Do you know of anyone interested in supporting with bit/litecoin the founding of a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of ancient mythology, arts and forbidden history? It would be great if you could get me in contact with someone. Please feel free to forward my email address to such individual(s).

http://www.biketempe.org/ looks fine, but please don't consider sending them 2X endowment if they happen to send you a pics similar to... $1,000 donation sent: https://blockchain.info/tx/34a0ca552d8e4d7aebecf69cb91b6c77edee6a2a2b13f0dd243c946062ac8e0ehttp://ntrweb.org/ looks fine, albeit a thrift store, with a 501(c)3 I may add. Ideally, I would love to see them have a Bitcoin Accepted Here in their window, but that's not a prerequisite, but perhaps suggest that to them if they're endowed, Rassah. I pointed them to two online stores that sell Bitcoin Accepted Here stickers, and sent the $1,000 donation: https://blockchain.info/tx/f9f20ae15f4013ef2905de06f8eca61a77eca123a6b91ffffad87718719a69adAlso, Brock of warchild.ca finally managed to add a link to their bitcoin donation option to their front page (we sent them a donation a while ago, without realizing there's no way to get to it from the main page), and just e-mailed this:

Hi, I’m a longtime supporter of International Orphan Resource Center. They are a US charity that helps orphans in Eastern Europe. I’ve made 2 attempts to promote the idea that they should accept donations in Bitcoin and my latest attempt succeeded! Now there is a prominent Bitcoin logo on the home page of the organization http://www.orphanresourcecenter.orgIt would be great if Bitcoin100 would support this great charity! The International Orphan Resource Center, Inc., was established with the purpose of developing a long-term strategy designed to effectively make a difference and positively change the course of orphans‘ lives, both while in the state-run institution, and providing transition help once they age out.‘

Aside from the one above this post, please review the following as well From: Jadon Montero Hi. Here is a brief description of our mission: The Elmseed Enterprise Fund’s mission is to create successful businesses in New Haven by providing start-up capital, business training, technical assistance, and a network of peer support. By providing access to small, low-interest loans and technical assistance, Elmseed seeks to open the capital markets to motivated entrepreneurs who lack access to traditional capital and the resources necessary to start or expand their small businesses. Elmseed is committed to encouraging sustainable economic self-reliance in the greater New Haven area. Elmseed’s small but significant loans and intensive technical support aim to empower clients to lift themselves out of poverty and become financially self sufficient. Our tax number is: 06-1624995 Let me know if this works. Sincerely, Jadon Montero, CEO Elmseed Enterprise Fund
Hi Dmitry... We met briefly there at Bad Decisions but we didn't talk much. I sent this email to John , and he told me about your Bitcoin 100 project. Which sounds a lot better fit than Bitcoin Baltimore. Here's the email as I sent it to him. My further comments under the --- at the end. --------------------------- I am not sure if I told you or you heard me talk about it at the last meetup, but my upcoming exchange, AllCrypt.com, donates to charity. We allow individuals to choose from pre-approved charities to donate a portion of their trades to. If they do not care, we have an AllCrypt.com Charity Pool, where we take those funds and donate them to a charity of our choice. My point: My son's cub scout pack today brought donations we collected to the ACTC - the Assistance Center of Towson Churches. I spoke to their director and explained my site, and told her we'd love to add them to the donation options. The one hiccup - we ONLY donate to BTC accepting charities. That is two fold: First, it's easier and fits with our model - we don't need to convert to fiat and have ti cut a check. Second - it helps promote BTC. If we have 10 BTC a month to donate to charity, but only give it to BTC accepting charities, we think that helps spread the GOOD word about cryptocurrency and get more charities on board. Thats where Bitcoin Baltimore comes in. I run an exchange. I'm not a salesguy. I don't have the time to teach charities about BTC and how to get USD from it. I know that Bitcoin Baltimore does. Is there someone who can give them a call and speak to them about getting set up with coinbase or bitpay or another service to allow them to accept BTC donations? Catherine, their director, seemed very excited to hear about it. Her name is Catherine, and she is the Executive Director of the Assistance Center of Towson Churches. www.actconline.infoAnything you could do to help would be fantastic. Thanks a ton. ------------------ So - all that being said - the first thing I'd like to address. I notice that you state SECULAR charities. ACTC is affiliated with 48 churches in the Towson area - the churches donate food, and send needy families to ACTC for assistance. They are not religious in the sense that they are sponsored by or lead by any church. They are just affiliated with them. I'm pleading this case not because I'm christian and want to help (I am in fact a libertarian atheist - you do what you want - just don't hurt other people) and would hate to see such a great organization not be able to benefit from your assistance.
From: Tony Lauck "AMURTEL is an international volunteer organization that works to help improve the quality of life for people experiencing chronic poverty or acute stress from environmental, financial, or political distress. We encourage and enable individuals and communities to harness their own resources for securing the basic necessities of life and for gaining greater economic sustainability and social and spiritual fulfillment. It is the goal of AMURTEL to assist communities in their recovery and development while honoring their customs, language, and religious beliefs." -- http://www.amurtel.org/about-us/I have recently worked with Amurtel and gotten the ability to accept bitcoin donations added to the Amurtel web site. Bitcoin donations are up and working as of today: http://www.amurtel.org/donate/Would it be possible to add Amurtel to the list of Bitcoin 100 charities? Yours, Tony Lauck

Hey,
I have a local non-profit that I volunteer for that I have almost convinced to add a bitpay button on their donation page. If I can make this happen what if any funds can they expect from this initiative?
The organization: "We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the sheltered homeless and others whose incomes are below the poverty level find and keep satisfying work."
I have been volunteering for 6+ months and they do a fantastic job.
Thank you for your help, Andrew

The nonprofit has to be secular, nonpolitical, a charity (or organization that helps people or animals), is well established (been around for a while), was not accepting bitcoin until very recently, and is not being run by someone who is already into bitcoin. If they qualify, and add bitcoin as a donation option to their website, we'll send them $1,000.

More charities to check From: Holly K Hi Dmitry, My organization has been fundraising to conduct the first-ever national study on street harassment and we are set to work with the top surveying firm GfK to see this happen in a few days! They will survey 2000 nationally representative people across the country. I have also self-financed focus groups across the country to hear stories from various demographics, including queer women of color in NY, Native Americans in SD, Latinas in FL, men in the LGBQT community in D.C., women harassed in cars in CA, women harassed on bikes in PA. The data from the survey are sorely needed and can add more legitimacy to our work to address it and better understanding about what it entails. All of the information will go into a research report that our volunteers nationwide will take to educators, policy makers, and law enforcement, to raise their awareness about the issue. I've given nearly 200 media interviews on this topic and, using my media contacts, I know the study will make big waves in the media and can bring a lot more attention to the issue. We are in a final fundraising push to be able to have funds to pay for things like infographics and printing of the report and a donation of $1000 could help us get there! I am happy to provide more information via email or by phone -- and also want to know if SSH could be helpful to BitCoin100 in return. Thanks! Holly Kearl http://www.hollykearl.com | @hkearl
From: Gary D. Hi Rassah, I’m currently working with 3 organizations but I’ll need some guidance from you to know if they qualify. Only one has their 501(3)(c) status. http://www.createfixate.com 501(3)(c) EIN: 26-2431218 Helps emerging artists and at risk youth in L.A. http://www.juliabutterfly.comJulia spent 2 years in a redwood tree to bring awareness to the effects of deforestation in the American Northwest. http://sarisak.comSarisak seeks to bring awareness to the damage caused by overused plastics. Sarisak recycles used Sari’s from rural india and channels proceeds back to the communities themselves. I’d be happy answer more questions if needed. Please note, these organizations do not currently accept BTC on their websites yet. Thanks, Gary
From C.A.A.N. Midwest, whom we have endowed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=52543.msg4019613#msg4019613Cool Joliet (cooljoliet.org) is an environmental organization in Joliet. I will be talking with them today about taking bitcoin donations on their website. The advantage of the cool joliet website is access to colleges and universities in the area. We'll be starting cool joliet back up in the Spring. It was way too cold this winter to do anything else. Anyway I will let you know what the powers that be of CJ say about allowing me to set up a btc donation portal on the website. Another thing we're talking about today is Cool Joliet setting up a tool lending library in collaboration with a food bank. ... This is an adaption of the Chinese proverb; "Give the woman a fish and she eats for a day. Teach her how to fish and she eats for a lifetime - and she teaches her children how to fish." We will develop a prototype garden, enroll at least 5 carefully chosen families and measure the result. If there could be one family in each organization that does this then it could change the face of food banks around the u.s. It won't work for every family but for some it is the just the information that they needed. It gives the family suffering from today's joblessness the ability of "doing it for themselves." People don't know how to grow their own food. We show them. People don't have the tools to garden with? They don't need them. The needs are container, dirt, seeds, fertilizer, water. http://cooljoliet.org/Whether we get the donation from your organization or not we will be moving on this project. It will definitely make our progress faster with the donation. I've already made an application with BitPay and I'll be putting a btc donation button on our website tonight. Hope all is well with you through the Gox shakedown. Gini I personally don't see any problems with this one, and it's from someone we have already worked with before. But as a formality, I would still like others to check it before I just send the money.
From: Jason Shim Hi Dmitry, I just wanted to take a moment to introduce you to Heather Jewell, who works at Meal Exchange here in Toronto, a charity that is doing great work around eradicating hunger in Canada via creative and innovative student engagement on campuses across the country. They reached out with an interest in Bitcoin and of course, since you manage the Bitcoin100.org initiative, thought that I would make an introduction. Heather, Dmitry oversees the Bitcoin100 and we had a chance to meet in person recently in Toronto and he graciously volunteers his time to administer the project. From here, just let Dmitry know that you're interested, along with a link to the Meal Exchange site and let him know that you are looking to implement it within your organization. As I mentioned, if you need any help around the implementation, just let me know! All the best ----- From: Heather J Hi Dmitry, It's nice to virtually meet you. As Jason explained, my organization, Meal Exchange, is a registered Canadian charity that is interested in accepting Bitcoin donations. Jason has been kind enough to show us the way. We think it's something that will resonate with our younger donors. We currently only accept credit card donations online ( http://mealexchange.com/take-action/donate.html). We will soon be implementing donations via Bitcoin and would greatly appreciate being considered for a donation from Bitcoin100. It's my understanding that to be considered you verify that we currently do not accept Bitcoin, we get set up to do so, and then confirm with you that we are now accepting donations. Is this correct? If there's any other information I need to provide you, I'd be happy to do so, just let me know. Thanks, Heather -- Heather J., Development Officer Meal Exchange www.mealexchange.com

A comedian pastor who plays with dolls, a pretty girl, and an old guy with a gray beard. It has to be legit. The only thing missing...you guessed it...was a goat.
I see no reason for not endowing them, Rassah, even though they're kinda new, but not an ultra new NPO. Secular concerns are not an issue here, as well. Anybody in the community is more than welcome to double check us on this prior to Rassah endowing them. probably in a couple days.
