Also, Brock of warchild.ca finally managed to add a link to their bitcoin donation option to their front page (we sent them a donation a while ago, without realizing there's no way to get to it from the main page
I still can't find the word bitcoin anywhere in the site, except in the Bitcoin page, which you can't reach without having a been provided a link. Thanks, psy, for looking out for us. I hope Rassah addressed your concern. Ideally, it would be nice if Bitcoin was more highlighted, but we were given the same consideration they gave to all the other donation options--nothing more, nothing less, ergo fair enough. ~Bruno Kucinskas

Anybody else noticed that bitcoin100 went passed 100 forum pages? Shouldn't that be a special day? It's my early birthday present in an hour and an half. Half hour EST... <hint, hint, of which I'm sure it's program on some unnamed dude's calendar app>

Hi, I’m a longtime supporter of International Orphan Resource Center. They are a US charity that helps orphans in Eastern Europe. I’ve made 2 attempts to promote the idea that they should accept donations in Bitcoin and my latest attempt succeeded! Now there is a prominent Bitcoin logo on the home page of the organization http://www.orphanresourcecenter.orgIt would be great if Bitcoin100 would support this great charity! The International Orphan Resource Center, Inc., was established with the purpose of developing a long-term strategy designed to effectively make a difference and positively change the course of orphans‘ lives, both while in the state-run institution, and providing transition help once they age out.‘ This one seems to past muster, Rassah. ~Bruno Kucinskas

It seems you've misunderstood the purpose of Bitcoin100. Bitcoin100 exists specifically to convince new charities to start accepting bitcoin donations. Are/were you in reference to http://www.amurtel.org/donate/, edd? From: Tony Lauck
"AMURTEL is an international volunteer organization that works to help improve the quality of life for people experiencing chronic poverty or acute stress from environmental, financial, or political distress. We encourage and enable individuals and communities to harness their own resources for securing the basic necessities of life and for gaining greater economic sustainability and social and spiritual fulfillment. It is the goal of AMURTEL to assist communities in their recovery and development while honoring their customs, language, and religious beliefs." -- http://www.amurtel.org/about-us/
I have recently worked with Amurtel and gotten the ability to accept bitcoin donations added to the Amurtel web site. Bitcoin donations are up and working as of today: http://www.amurtel.org/donate/
Would it be possible to add Amurtel to the list of Bitcoin 100 charities? Still in the vetting process till I get clarification of what's involved here. I think I'm missing something, but can't put my finger on it.

Hey,
I have a local non-profit that I volunteer for that I have almost convinced to add a bitpay button on their donation page. If I can make this happen what if any funds can they expect from this initiative?
The organization: "We are a non-profit organization dedicated to helping the sheltered homeless and others whose incomes are below the poverty level find and keep satisfying work."
I have been volunteering for 6+ months and they do a fantastic job.
Thank you for your help, Andrew
The nonprofit has to be secular, nonpolitical, a charity (or organization that helps people or animals), is well established (been around for a while), was not accepting bitcoin until very recently, and is not being run by someone who is already into bitcoin. If they qualify, and add bitcoin as a donation option to their website, we'll send them $1,000. AndrewK, feel free to PM myself or Rassah if you would like us to look at the NPO in question privately, if that's a concern, bud, albeit any and all endowments are made public. ~Bruno Kucinskas

Good luck your study. (pass that on, Rassah, from me)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyLiOnmBZLw#t=37First, I've witnessed them comin' outta the woodwork to seek an endowment, now I've seen them live in a tree for one. Looks like we've came full circle, and my our work is finally done here, Rassah. Take the rest of the bitcoins and purchase a wood coffee table. Seriously, there's more here than meets the eye, all. juliabutterfly.com (in spite of its name has a tremendous following of like minded individuals. We, as bitcoiners, would be remiss if we let this opportunity slip by. Bitcoin 100's main objective is to bring further awareness to Bitcoin. Julia Butterfly Hill's site fits that objective rather handsomely. That said, I would love to see her get endowed, given her sacrifice. Again, anybody having any objections, please state your case, for it'll be welcome. ~Bruno Kucinskas

http://sarisak.com Sarisak seeks to bring awareness to the damage caused by overused plastics. Sarisak recycles used Sari’s from rural india and channels proceeds back to the communities themselves. Rassah, I'm going to need a tad bit of help on this one. According to The Wayback Machine, they sold product, and still do, with just recently attaching themselves to a cause, albeit selling product is not the issue unless it was/is their sole income. Here is their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/sarisakpageHere's a video (a must watch, please) they linked to and is available on their FB page: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulkY7mOkdqs#t=213The cause is noble, and I believe I can trust them. Basically, seeking assurance from them, and clear up any misunderstandings on our part. I'm sure any concerns will be addressed accordingly by them. No other issues found with the exception(s) I've outlined above. ~Bruno Kucinskas

RED TEXT HERE SO THAT YOU DON'T OVERLOOK THIS POST, RASSAH.Cool Joliet (cooljoliet.org) is an environmental organization in Joliet. I will be talking with them today about taking bitcoin donations on their website. The advantage of the cool joliet website is access to colleges and universities in the area. We'll be starting cool joliet back up in the Spring. It was way too cold this winter to do anything else. Anyway I will let you know what the powers that be of CJ say about allowing me to set up a btc donation portal on the website. Another thing we're talking about today is Cool Joliet setting up a tool lending library in collaboration with a food bank.
...
This is an adaption of the Chinese proverb; "Give the woman a fish and she eats for a day. Teach her how to fish and she eats for a lifetime - and she teaches her children how to fish."
We will develop a prototype garden, enroll at least 5 carefully chosen families and measure the result.
If there could be one family in each organization that does this then it could change the face of food banks around the u.s. It won't work for every family but for some it is the just the information that they needed. It gives the family suffering from today's joblessness the ability of "doing it for themselves." People don't know how to grow their own food. We show them. People don't have the tools to garden with? They don't need them. The needs are container, dirt, seeds, fertilizer, water.
http://cooljoliet.org/
Whether we get the donation from your organization or not we will be moving on this project. It will definitely make our progress faster with the donation.
I've already made an application with BitPay and I'll be putting a btc donation button on our website tonight.
Hope all is well with you through the Gox shakedown.
Gini

<from Rassah, below>
I personally don't see any problems with this one, and it's from someone we have already worked with before. But as a formality, I would still like others to check it before I just send the money. We may have to double check this one, Rassah. http://www.cooljoliet.net/About.htmlCool Joliet is a coalition of groups and individuals that reflect the greater diversity of Joliet and the surrounding area; The Joliet Area Congregation Organized Bodies (JACOB) group of many area churches, First Presbyterian Church of Joliet, the Universalist Unitarian Church of Joliet, Potluck Democracy, Community Alliance and Action Network (C.A.A.N.), Will County Environmental Network, and others. The Cool Joliet Coalition is very much a grassroots, volunteer organization.
We welcome all individuals & groups that will work together for common goals in advocating for a healthy environment. Feel
free to (contact) us.

Hey Team Great work, I love what you are doing.
I started to crawl through the list but thought someone would know if there are any verified NPO's / Registered Charities on this list focused specifically on providing food for people living in extreme poverty or suffering from malnutrition that are currently accept Bitcoin. Sean's Outpost is an obvious one but I am trying to compile a list of others.
Thanks

Our Charity Bitcoins have gone - Thanks MtGox!The Virtual Doctor Project - http://www.virtualdoctors.org/other-ways-to-donate/As one of the first charities in the UK to accept donations in Bitcoins, we were delighted when Bitcoin100 chose our charity for a donation and then more than 40 members of the Bitcoin community chose to show their generosity and sent us Bitcoins. Unfortunately the bankruptcy of MtGox, who held our wallet, means we have lost access to those donated funds. We will continue to watch developments in the hope that we can reclaim our missing funds and in the meantime we have opened another wallet on a different exchange. Please use the following address for donations: 1Q2HHrF4jrLSYVMHEGyB9XqPR1hNRexLBqThanks!

Glad to see you made it outta Newbie. For all practical purposes, this NPO seems like a viable entity deserving funding from Bitcoin 100. I'm sure you won't mind if another 24 hours passes so that if anybody has a concern it'll give them time to express it, but I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be a problem. If nothing is posted on this thread shedding any negative light by tomorrow evening, I'll contact Rassah and get the ball a rollin'. In fact, that ball is already in motion with this reply. Bruno Kučinskas If they are successful in their application for funding I'll go through the details of setting them up to use Bitcoin. "Give a man a Bitcoin and he'll convert it to fiat, teach him how to use it and he'll join the economy." If anyone knows places where the virtual doctors can buy the equipment for their charity in btc it will have an even more positive effect on the Bitcoin economy. UPDATE: As one of the first charities in the UK to accept donations in Bitcoins, we were delighted when Bitcoin100 chose our charity for a donation and then more than 40 members of the Bitcoin community chose to show their generosity and sent us Bitcoins. Until then if I run across any non profits willing to adhere to the terms I'll send them your way.
