I've been trying to contact Rassah via his email address that I got from http://bitcoin100.org/contact/ a few weeks ago, but haven't gotten a reply. Is Bitcoin100 still active and adding charities?

I am volunteering for an organisation called New Harvest. They are a US registered non-profit advancing alternatives to conventionally produced meat, mostly focusing on cultured meat.

I spent a week and weekend in Autin at the bitcoin conference, then had almost no break before spending another weekend at a Baltimore conference (this one wasn't bitcoin related, and involved a lot of fake fur). These guys were at the Texas Bitcoin Conference, so at least they were vetted by them. As I was told, they are basically the reverse of the Make a Wish Foundation, where they do the wish granting for terminally ill parents.

I have been setting up a Bitpay account for them in the last week, which is approved. Now they need to change their site accordingly, so Bitcoins can be sent. Once that's done and tested, they should be all ready!
 
Is Bitcoin100 still active? I told them that it might be possible to get a thousand dollar's worth in BTC from the Bitcoin100 people. That would be a great encouragement for them, though we do hope for other donations in the long run too.
 
You might not remember that, but Marius (Mqrius) and I communicated with you concerning Against Malaria Foundation quite a while ago, where we wanted them to start accepting Bitcoin. They never got back to us, which is why I'm so excited to be able to set it up myself for New Harvest now!

The reason I'm asking is that International Orphan Resource Center http://www.orphanresourcecenter.org was recently approved. They have several orphanages in Crimea Ukraine and that's exactly were the war just started. This is very sad. I've just received news that the IORC reprasentative left for Ukraine yesterday to figure out how to continue to support orphans in this difficult situation. They would really need support right now.

When we first formed Cool Joliet some of the people who were part of the formation committee were members of JACOB (which has since morphed into Unity CDC which is not associated with churches even though it's the same people.). The Presbyterian Church let us meet there (not so much anymore - we meet at a school now) and there were members of the Universalist Unitarian Church who attended our meetings. But also one reads that C.A.A.N., Potluck Democracy and Will County Environmental Network  are mentioned. C.A.A.N. is an lgbtq organization, potluck democracy is a political one and will county environmental has morphed into C.A.R.E. (Citizens Against Ruining the Environment). 3 church mentions for 3 not churches.

Our new project is a movable container garden for families of limited income. We hope to show that by providing seeds, soil, and a relatively inexpensive container that families can provide for themselves.

Wondering what Bitcoin is? So, too is Spare Key Executive Director Erich Mische who spent the better part of a weekend trying to figure out what exactly it means to Spare Key. “Near as I can tell Bitcoin is a virtual form of currency. The value of the currency is dependent upon the value that is assigned to it,” said Mische. “I think.”

According to the website, www.gizmodo.com , “Bitcoin is not real money. It's an online "currency"—virtual tokens that can be exchanged for goods and services at places that accept it, the same way you'd give someone a dollar for a cookie…”

Mische says that Spare Key is using a service called BitPay. According to BitPay’s site, “BitPay is an electronic payment processing system for the bitcoin currency. We enable online merchants to accept bitcoins, as a form of payment, just as they accept payments from Visa, Mastercard, or Paypal.”

Mische says that accepting donations via Bitcoin is just another way Spare Key seeks to diversify its funding “If the only things we did to raise funds for Spare Key were those things that made absolute sense to us, we’d be in big trouble,” explained Mische. “While I have a general concept of how Bitcoin works I am depending on those donors who grasp its potential and are using it to help educate us through their generous donations of Bitcoin, and maybe come spend an hour or more with me over a cup of coffee and help me figure it all out.”

Unfortunately the bankruptcy of MtGox, who held our wallet, means we have lost access to those donated funds. How where you using Mt Gox as a wallet, when the scuttlebutt during that time frame was "Do not use!"? Virtually, nobody was able to get coins out once place there, thus wondering what issues you encountered during the withdrawal process, and if an issue arose, was the community made aware of issues? Surely, you weren't using the exchange to possibly increase your bitcoin position, where you?

From everything I've read in the past hour pertaining to the Virtual Doctors Project, funds were desperately needed. Were you also taking fiat donations and converting them to bitcoins and placing them on Mt Gox?

From the best of what I can ascertain, the endowment from Bitcoin 100 wasn't transferred to Mt Gox, but used to purchase products or services, or traded for fiat to be used for the cause.

Ideally, I would love to start a campaign to garner up to the $1,000 USD via BTC lost, but unfortunately I can't do that.

The best I can do is via this post, hoping that others will contribute to Virtual Doctors Project to hopefully regain any bitcoins that they may have been lost due to the downfall of Mt Gox.

In the case of SariSak.com, some proceeds go back into the community where the Saris originate from and this is a great cause.  However it’s not a full not-for-profit entity. I can understand your concerns. I feel fine with sharing this with Sarisak.com and letting them know that the gift is strictly for nonprofits.

Can you confirm if you send donations to charitable organizations that were recently verified and approved by Phinnaeus Gage?

The reason I'm asking is that International Orphan Resource Center http://www.orphanresourcecenter.org was recently approved. They have several orphanages in Crimea Ukraine and that's exactly were the war just started. This is very sad. I've just received news that the IORC reprasentative left for Ukraine yesterday to figure out how to continue to support orphans in this difficult situation. They would really need support right now.
