You're right because even with presence of the so called pensioners that are world class players in the team, they didn't even win the league with a very good gap in the points and just one lose would had made them bottle the title,thereby creating an opportunity for Lens who suprisenly came 2nd place to win the league, therefore the board noticed they were wasting alot of money on them without much benefits and needed to sell them and rebuild with younger talents and  new manager.

 They're gradually building a very strong team, they might not really perform well in the Champions League or get to the semi's but I think they'll win their league and from next season when they've built a better relationship amongst themselves on the pitch we'll see them performing very brilliantly in all competitions, with or without Mbappé.

I think PSG is already ready to play without Mbappe: Ramouche, Kolo Muani and Dembele must solve all the issues in attack. And by the way, I think PSG planned to spend this season without Mbappe, but they underestimated Real and completely lost the “silent bidding” because they did not receive any offer from Real at all. Way too easy game for PSG, wasn't even a contest, we all knew that they would win anyway and I did not expected them to get such an easy win. They tried a different two striker method with Muani and Mbappe, not a bad idea but didn't work well for both strikers since they scored 3 goals and none came from those two, it basically makes them the main target and then it's all about the rest of the squad to make it change.

I think it should be noted down that Mbappe and Muani could take the attention of the defenders and then it would leave others a chance to attack. In the end we are talking about a good game from them and it's easy win for them, they are going to win the league again without anyone even competing closely.

Well if they planned spending the season without Mbappé don't see any reason why they'll punish him for having a secret deal against Realmadrid which gave him no option than to sign another contract for the team, they now his worth and what he has to offer for the team and so far it's favoured them cause Mbappé has really helped them this season,however it would only last this season cause Mbappé might be on his way to Realmadrid next summer.

The last match of the day in the French Ligue 1 will be played between Marseille and Lille. Marseille are going through a very chaotic period. Their game against Lyon last week was postponed before it even started due to the aggressive behavior of their fans. They don't have the stability they had last season in the league. I am sure they are regretting the loss of Igor Tudor. On the other hand, Lille have been performing well in recent weeks. They haven't lost their last 4 games. And they have collected 10 points in this period. And I think their win against Monaco was important. I think they will not lose to Marseille in this match. I think Lille are the favorites to win this match.

Marseille 0 - 0 Lille. That was a very bad start of the season for Marseille. They are sitting in the 8th position of the table although getting only 4 points from 15, the last 5 games! They are just in front of Lens which had a very bad start of the season but they seemed to wake up but the draw of this match vs Lorient didn't help them advance properly.
PSG were lucky to win and to have similar opponents which fail many times.

According to my expectations, the Lorient vs Lens match has the potential to end in a draw. and yes, this match did not produce a single goal from the two teams competing this week. even though considering the comparison between these two teams, Lens is more favored by bookies. However, in fact, Lens was unable to get full points to increase its ranking on the standings. Even though according to statistics Lens slightly dominated ball possession, as well as opportunities, they didn't have a single big chance they created.

On the other hand, the home team managed to hold the match to a draw against Lens. It's natural that Lorient's performance is much more unstable than the opposing team. In fact, Lorient occupies a position in an unsafe zone. at least, getting one point wasn't too bad of an outcome for them.

In the other match, Marseille vs Lille. So far, Gattuso has not been able to bring his team much better. Even though they were playing at home, Gennaro Gattuso's squad was unable to overthrow Lille. but at least, they didn't play the match too badly. So, we'll see how far Marseille goes in this competition.

This was actually a winnable game for Lens today. They played away against Lorient by the way. They were really impressive in the first half. Lorient couldn't find much chance against them in that half as well. That was the time Lens should have been able to score and get ahead. But they couldn't.

The second half was more like in the middle but Lens were still able to create many goal opportunities. All that effort was in vain and there was a 0-0 draw at the end. Lens don't lose any game in the league for many weeks at least. But they can do more with some improvement.

Paris Saint Germaine produced a great performance against Montpellier, yesterday to earn the club a win and also saw them temporary overtake former league leaders Nice who  has an outstanding game to play against Nice Rennes tomorrow.
The current quality players  at Paris Saint I think is just too strong for any team in the league to contend with them. Like I've always maintained, the club's poor performance in the beginning of the season was as a result of the fact that club manager Luis Enrique's tactical approach wasn't  enough and that's why the team have been winning matches back to back since he found the playing pattern that's bringing the best  from his players.

Kylian Mbappe will play for PSG and the only thing incident to see that not happening will be Injury, I can't even imagine them dropping their finest and most formed player. watching a match where you can't score a goal is a bit boring and that's what happened in the Lorent vs Lens match, I think Lens can win the match to be able to steal full points from Lorent if you look at the chances.
Lens chances of winning are much greater than Lorent but in reality the match had to be a goalless draw, however they had to be satisfied with the result because they could at least share 1 point between the clubs.

The result was draw as well as other match between lens vs lorient. The performance from lens and marseille were so garbage in these matches. The appointment of Gattuso had no impact whatsoever on the situation. The club is still performing so garbage. The only key to sell marseille to the saudi club then recruit zidane as a new appointment.
That will give huge change to the club. It was also surprising to me how management was recruiting someone who has a horrible history in the football as a coach.

But this approach to judging how strong a team really is can also have its pitfalls. If two teams like Manchester City and Real Madrid dominate their domestic league games and they play against each other in the first round of the knockout round, one team will inevitably get knocked out from the competition. But I think it would be wrong to then say that one team is necessarily much weaker than the other team unless one of them got humiliated by the other team. It really depends on how the season is going and at what point in time the big teams face each other.

But I concur with you that dominating Ligue 1 tells nothing about the strength of PSG on the European stages when they face the top teams from other national leagues. The only competition to give answers to that question is the Champions League.

And I am very sure this season will be different, apart from PSG's decline in performance this season, there are several teams such as Nice and Monaco who have consistent performance and they are even now at the top of the standings and I think it is possible for them to break PSG's dominance this season to win the Ligue 1 title.
PSG's inability to dominate and excel in the UCL even though they dominated Ligue 1 several seasons ago indicates that the quality of the teams in Ligue 1 is quite weak compared to other European competitions.

I think the so said decline of PSG is not set in stone yet. They are playing erratically so far, but I believe if they can stabilize their game over the coming weeks, we might be talking differently about them very soon. They do have potential and in my opinion that is out of of the question, but can they play their best game over several weeks and months? That great win against AC Milan, that win away which wasn't easy against Stade Brest and then the crystal clear performance against Montpellier, I think this is the PSG team that should be paid some respect to. The most important thing if enrique is trying to make PSG will not rely upon mbappe again. Playing without mbappe may become the future of PSG. Enrique is trying to make sure if its club will not be playing as bad as before.
This is why winning any game is really important for PSG at this moment. It's caused by PSG will have no mbappe anymore who can carry the club. So, there's no choice for enrique to make sure its club will able to play consistently without mbappe.

Even though they have the potential to be pushed back by Nice, it is not impossible that Rennes will help them get comfortable at the top of the standings.
