You can only use the software with the default coordinator if those who don't want you to be private decide that your coins are good enough. Don't do that and don't help the enemy to profit. Use JoinMarket or other solutions.

Yes, this is the exactly the idea behind WabiSabi that makes it so much more block space efficient than Joinmarket.  In Joinmarket, coordinators (takers) only provide privacy for their own output while paying the mining fees for each maker's inputs and outputs (in addition to each maker's fee).  Timed coordination converts the maker/taker model for Joinmarket liquidity into a peer model instead where every participant gains privacy, allowing much larger (and thus, more private) coinjoin transactions to be constructed cheaply while eliminating the toxic change and remixing requirements of Joinmarket.

Several posts in this and some other threads do give off the appearance of being thinly veiled attempts to promote competing privacy services. It seems odd that people who advertised failed mixer after failed mixer are so laser focused on Wasabi. Custodial mixers aren’t held to nearly the same standard despite having a much higher risk of losing money. It is only natural to question people’s motivations when attacking one service but ignoring or downplaying glaring problems with custodial mixers.

It should be easy to understand how that's a stupid answer to address our concerns.
1) Any other user connecting to my coordinator won't be able to know that I'm not doing shady stuff (like zkSNACKS), therefore not solving the issue on an existential level.
2) Having many coordinators will create many very small anonymity sets, which is way worse than one big set of anonymous UTXOs. I don't think you disagree with this.

I believe the difference is that with custodial mixers we know about the risks and issues, they aren't trying to hide them or anything. We are all aware of 'not your keys, not your coins'. If we still choose to use a centralized mixer, it means we made an informed decision to hand over custody for a certain amount of time.

Meanwhile Wasabi promoters seem hellbent on proving their service was perfect and had 0 downsides.

It's intriguing to watch the chat inside this thread. The techs in the thread made it clear they won't accept blockchain analysis so they're against what Wasabi Wallet's doing. They've got a point. Spying on transactions isn't going to gain trust zkSNACKs trust from the masses.

The techs here say that's what it comes down to in the final question. Do ppl want their coins spied on? I'd say no so Wasabi wallet shouldn't be used unless they've removed blockchain analysis partnerships.
