I completely understand what you said, Usyk was not going for the knockout but the way I see it Joshua will have to box hard and clever and he will get tired. That is when Usyk will have the opportunity to go for a knockout.

I know he left Joshua badly bruised in the fist fight therefore he probably does have the power to push for a knockout but which version of Joshua will be see in the ring in the rematch. The confused fighter that got destroyed by Ruiz or the patient jabbing fighter that won the Ruiz rematch? Let us not forget Joshua was comprehensively outboxed by Usyk in their fight too.

I will not placing a bet on the fight but do have a strong belief and confidence in that Usyk will out box Joshua again and he will win by knockout. Joshua has tools at his disposal to win the fight but he was unable to trouble Usyk in the first meeting and I see no reason why he will be able unleash them in the rematch. Usyk should win the fight comfortably.
Not sure Usyk has the power to put Joshua away or the pressure. In the first fight he did hurt Joshua quite a few times, but he never presses on it. He goes back to sitting behind his jab. So, in my opinion to knock Joshua out he'll need to be really loading up his shots, and he doesn't really do that. He isn't putting Joshua out in one punch, at least I wouldn't have thought so, and nothing up until this point has suggested he can.

I might bet on it, along with a few UFC fights. Usyk be decision again looks the most likely, and should get decents odds. Should be above evens I imagine.

I'm hoping for neither. I want the old Joshua back that like to get into brawls. Think about the first Ruiz fight, Joshua went into that confident, got into a gun fight, and got clipped. However, he knocked Ruiz down before that exchange that hurt him. Ever since, he has just seemed a shadow of himself, and doesn't want to get in them risky, high reward sequences.

I'm not expecting Usyk to engage in them either, but if Joshua can turn up the pressure it'll be more entertaining for the fans at least. Otherwise, I literally see no other result other than A Usyk win, whether that's by a surprise knockout or the usual decision.

AJ has to go in for a scrap. If he just lazily walks into this without committing or hoping to win it miraculously on points I think a lot of people are going to lose interest in him.  He needs to change up his gameplan otherwise it's just going to be a repeat of the first fight. He needs to get the win for that Fury fight which will almost certainly happen if he gets the belts back. If not Fury will probably just fight Usyk but for some reason I really want to see him against AJ more.

That first fight against Ruiz really messed him up, if we remember the context of that fight Wilder had beaten Breazeale on the first round just a few weeks prior, at the time there were rumors about an unification fight and Joshua wanted to give a good impression to the US fans on his debut there but then out of nowhere he was defeated, and even if he won the rematch against Ruiz he has not been the same ever since, I wonder if the effects are just psychological or if all the hits he received left some side-effects on him, however regardless of the reason if he wants to win this fight he needs to be incredibly aggressive against Usyk, because in a long fight the technical resources of Usyk will allow him to win 10 out of 10 fights against Joshua.

How effective was Joshua really when he was going in with a scrap/brawl mindset? His win rate was excellent of course with only Ruiz and Usyk being his only defeats but in both he was outboxed. He won those so-called scraps and brawls, a prime example being parts of his fight against Parker which Joshua won on a points decision but they did nit endear him as a great fighter.

Joshua seemed to be in a scrap or brawl type of fight against Ruiz in the earlier rounds before he was knocked out therefore I doubt he will be able to bully Usyk in the ring simply because Usyk will not let him. I cannot see Joshua winning this rematch.

The poll in the thread still stands at 32 votes cast with 21 (65%) in favour of Usyk winning which I think is giving Joshua too much benefit with 11 votes (34%) the win.

How are the odds with bookies standing now? I think Usyk still has to be favourite by a mile to win this rematch.

And here is the current odds for this fight,

Usyk - 1.49
Joshua - 2.44

And the over/under is 10.5 at 1.67/2.16

So bettors are expecting a full 12 rounds of pure clinic by Usyk. He might hurt Joshua as we all know that he doesn't have a good chin, But I don't think that he will go for the knockout. Or it might be a short night for Usyk, if Joshua will pressed hard and look for a knock out.

And Eddie Hearn also says that he knows what Joshua needs to do to win, according to him, Joshua should press Usyk from the first round and press him to the ropes of the ring. It would be interesting to look at this, given that Usyk surpasses Joshua in speed, this advice seems not very appropriate, but no one forbade dreaming ... And I somehow don’t quite understand Joshua’s words that he doesn’t need belts if he wins he will throw them away, he only needs recognition, he doesn’t want belts, so he won’t get them.  Grin

Hearn seems to talk a lot of nonsense when he is in the mood. He is promoting Joshua and the only hope of him making more money off Joshua is if Joshua beats Usyk then manages to lure Fury out of retirement. Hearn never got over the fact he was outbid by Frank Warren for the previous Fury fight.

So Joe Calzaghe has his opinion on Joshua getting Robert Garcia as his trainer:

Quote
“I’m not sure [if Joshua made the right decision in picking Garcia], we have to wait and see at the end of the day. I think it was time for him to have a change so I think that’s the right idea, whether Garcia is the right guy, I’m not sure, we’ll wait and see," Calzaghe told Boxing Social.

https://www.boxingscene.com/calzaghe-not-sure-if-joshua-made-right-decision-picking-garcia-trainer--167941

It might be true that Joshua really needs a new trainer in his career.  But yes, we will have to see if Robert Garcia will be a perfect fit for him. This is a very important fight for Joshua, if we can't or didn't see any improvement and the results are the same, I don't know how he can move forward with his career.

@Baofeng. There are different opinions on whether Robert Garcia is the right trainer. Some people say he is and he would help Joshua to have more aggression in the ring and attack more on the body. Others say that he might be a mistake because Joshua is a heavyweight and Robert Garcia's tactics might not be very good for heavyweights. Joshua has the speed of a cruiserweight, however. I speculate that Joshua's adjustments on Garcia's tactics might not cause a problem.

And if I'm not mistaken, Garcia hasn't train any heavyweight throughout his career as a trainer so this is a first for him. But who knows, maybe his training method can be used by Joshua, as you have said, he moves like a cruiserweight so he has the speed, he just have to understand when to throw volume punching and this could be Garcia's training style with Anthony in this fight. So we will see if the the opinion of Joshua getting Robert as his trainer is really unfavorable or not.

I do agree, still very early stage to say that Robert is the right trainer for him or not. That's just one opinion coming from Joe C. but he didn't elaborate if indeed Garcia is a great trainer or not.

We will only see what the plan of attack is during the actual fight. Maybe he will used that speed, or maybe he will be more aggressive than usual. Or used the jab more, going to the body first and try to soften a technical fighter such as Usyk.

Eddie Hearn in an interview talks about the specifics of the organization of the broadcast of the Joshua vs Usik fight (starting from 11m 08sec) and upcoming fights, as well as a possible fight between Joshua and Fury (Fury says he is ready to fight Joshua on the condition that the broadcast of the fight will be free Smiley ) and about Joshua's attitude to boxing, he also says that he is capable of win Usik, although he is an outsider.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BG94B3FPRsw

And Eddie Hearn also says that he knows what Joshua needs to do to win, according to him, Joshua should press Usyk from the first round and press him to the ropes of the ring. It would be interesting to look at this, given that Usyk surpasses Joshua in speed, this advice seems not very appropriate, but no one forbade dreaming ... And I somehow don’t quite understand Joshua’s words that he doesn’t need belts if he wins he will throw them away, he only needs recognition, he doesn’t want belts, so he won’t get them.  Grin

Yes, you are right, and Joshua really says about it in his interview "the road to redemption" that he does not need all these belts, he only needs recognition and respect, not because of them, but because of the victory over Usyk, this is what he really needs. An open and, as it seems to me, confidential conversation about the preparation for the rematch and the analysis of the first fight with Usyk.

Mike Tyson did not stand aside and also expressed his opinion about the upcoming Joshua vs rematch. In his opinion, Joshua poses a serious danger to the opponent, as he put it, all this is due to the fact that he is still continuing to study.

Does anyone know if Dazn has got any of the worldwide rights to this fight? According to wiki it does but there's no source and I can't see anything official from dazn or on their socials: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oleksandr_Usyk_vs_Anthony_Joshua_II

Worst comes to worse I'm hoping a Ukrainian proxy will be ok to watch the fight on Usyk's own YouTube channel which he got the rights for.

How does he know Usyk hasn't been doing the same? There's no way he's just going to walk into this like it's an easy fight and I'm sure Usyk will be prepared, but he also has the added insight on now having fought him before. Personally, I expect a similar result, but AJ is going to have to go in for the kill this time if he doesn't want a repeat of this first fight. I can see him doing that but tiring early on and if so maybe we will see a knock out from Usyk.

According to this link DAZN was outbid by SkySports therefore it is PPV with them but you are right, Youtube will be showing the fight live in Ukraine.

I have been confident Usyk will win by knockout by round 5 or so. Joshua has to go in an all out attack and then win by KO otherwise he stands no chance because technically Usyk is far superior. I have a feeling Joshua will try to outbox Usyk like he tried in the Ruiz rematch but it will backfire spectacularly.

Both of them have the chance to knock each other. It's just a matter of who can make it the first. Usyk is a slow starter AJ can definitely advance from there. As long as he doesn't gas out himself, his probability of winning will be higher.

Like what he did with Ruiz, AJ loses in the first fight but avenges himself after. He can also do it with Usyk in thier 2nd fight.

What's new? I mean the promoters always talk like their fighters are the next champion or unbeatable in the case of Joshua. I get it, he wants to make money, that's what he's hired for. So, I can't give him to much stick for that, he's doing his job. However, it would be refreshing to hear a little honestly from time to time, but he isn't inclined to do that, AJ pays his bills, and therefore he's always going to talk about Joshua positively. That's until he's retired, and no longer on his pay roll.

I do want to see Fury come out of retirement to fight both of them though, I want him to win obviously, and I want him to be the unanimously accepted greatest of this generation, which I already believe he is.

Wooooow... I never thought that Fury has retired, because I remember him talking that the only belt that is left for his collection, is the belt Usyk holds. I have been living with a feeling, that he will fight the winner of Usyk vs Joshua fight, but then a rematch clause spoiled his plans, spoiled a bit.

Btw, Usyk looks bigger than he was in their first fight.

Its either Usyk has gained, or Joshua decided to lose to gain more speed. What do you think, will we see a new Joshua ?
