Yes, this odds are going to be maintain up to the fight night. They still believed that Canelo being the young guy and got the win against GGG, will be favored come trilogy. And we can't deny that Canelo is still very good boxer, pound for pound on top of the list despite the blip against Bivol (swallow more than he can chew). GGG won against Murata, but we can't compare him against a prime Canelo and then GGG nearing the retirement age for most boxers, even great boxers like him.

True. Didn't saw much movement in the odds. From the beginning itself, I thought that GGG's odds are a bit lower than what they should have been. They remain at that level. All that said, I would say that momentum is with Golovkin (after his recent win against Ryōta Murata). On the other hand, Canelo maybe still recovering from his defeat against Dmitry Bivol. But knowing how hard Canelo trains and focuses on his career, I am not sure how much of an opportunity it presents to Golovkin. Anyway, for GGG there is nothing to lose and obviously he won't be the one under pressure before the match.

GGG just need to perform and try all the best that he can offer during the fight, like what you have said he have nothing to prove just take things the way he always is, his experienced will give some tough fight for Canelo and who knows he might hit him a good combo that will bring him down, boxing is the place where upset happened.

We never know who's going to win till the announcer pronounces the name of the winner.

I would love to see KO from anyone either GGG or Canelo. It will bring more attentions if they will be fighting toe-to-toe.

I'm not surprised though, bookies is leaning towards Canelo to win big again. As we all know that Canelo won in the second fight, (but there are a lot of controversies and arguments against it).
I'd say the first match is more controversial rather than the second, I watched the replay and see GGG should won on the first match, but the judges make it as a draw. Imagine GGG was won the first fight and Canelo was won the second fight, the trilogy will be interesting. No offense to GGG, but Canelo will win.

I would love to see KO from anyone either GGG or Canelo. It will bring more attentions if they will be fighting toe-to-toe.
I really doubt it will happen, both of them have though chin and Canelo have been tested on the light heavyweight division, even he's lose but he's not fell.

Finally a soul that shares my vision of two fights. Finally someone that watches boxing, instead of just looking on info from google and makes his conclusion.
The only words last to add is to wish they had a third fight straight after their second fight, and not in few years. I also expect Canelo to win their third fight, but I hope that GGG would give him a decent resistance in the fight and the fight would end by points.

According to GGG the second fight was more dominant for his victory but he was disappointed with the jury decision, so in the trilogy fight then GGG hoped for an absolute victory, but Canelo is now a strong opponent since the second fight finished and Canelo has dominated many matches with a proud victory, so the fight The trilogy is a fierce battle to determine which of the two is more deserving of the real victory.

Canelo will still likely win this match because he now have more advantage than GGG, but getting a win in this trilogy won't give him much hype but he needs to endure this fight because this is his ticket to get a rematch agaisnt Bivol.

Yes, I agree with that. Winning against GGG won't put Canelo on fame as the big thing is by defeating Dmitry Bivol. If Canelo will win here, I think it's just a recognition that he will receive but the hype isn't that high because GGG is already on his retirement age and this trilogy might be his last fight.

Regardless, Canelo has to win no matter what. If GGG wins instead, I doubt Canelo will have a chance to face Bivol in a rematch. Aside from that, Canelo might not get big fights and needs to go back from the below rankings before having a shot again to fight in a title match.

Nobody have thought that Dmitry Bivol will be the 2nd boxer who will put a stain in Canelo's record, Bivol has the reach advantage but Canelo has the IQ in the ring as he is more experienced but the defending champion, Bivol has done a good job in frustrating Canelo. The judge's tried to help Canelo but the fight was really clear that Canelo was having a hard time getting near with Bivol.

If GGG will win in this trilogy, I don't know anymore. Perhaps Canelo should go back down to his most comfortable division and make his name again great in that specific division.

Yeah, GGG is also determined to win, and now that Canelo is coming from a loss that will make GGG more confident that he can exploit Canelo's weakness. After this, GGG can retire (regardless of the outcome) because he is not getting any younger and he has already achieved a lot in boxing to be called as one of the greatest, so he can enjoy his life while he is still healthy.

It's easier for him to retire if he loses the fight because if he wins, it would open more opportunities for him to have big fights and that means a big payday for him, unless, he will think of his legacy and will retire with a pride, like what Mayweather and Marquez did. In the end, it still depends on the decision of GGG, he know his limit and he knows what he likes to achieve in life, so let's enjoy the trilogy as we have been asking for it.

Yes, you have a point. We know that he's also determined to win because it's not the money he's up to but because he's been calling this fight for years now and at last (even if it's late) he's been given a chance to have a trilogy. GGG deserves more than this and not just an option or a reason for Canelo to have his name and fame back. If he wins, I'd still think that he will choose to retire and benefit from it even if there's more doors for him, he knows his situation and he's not getting any younger.

I agree, he is not a damage good, it's just that we don't see him losing the fight against Bivol. But Bivol is too much for him in a weight that he is not used to.

And remember that Canelo is one of the best and for sure these kind of boxers have the mentality to bounce back again, like Manny Pacquiao. I think there is still fire inside of Canelo to finished this trilogy with GGG and settled the discussion between these 2 legendary boxers. And it's good that Canelo experienced his second lost, so that he will have to improved and not being too much self-satisfying, in my opinion.

Too early to make conclusions. The Canelo vs GGG 3 fight would have happened at least 2-3 years ago, but Canelo was running away scared after his flawed victory during the second fight. He agreed to the fight now, only after knowing that GGG is now 40 years old. But the problem for him is that Golovkin is in excellent form right now (totally destroyed Ryota Murata two months back) and Canelo himself is not in peak form (he lost to Dmitry Bivol last month, and that too at the T-Mobile Arena).

And this makes the fight interesting again, because of the lost GGG suffered in the hands of Bivol.

Maybe GGG will have a crack at Canelo because of his great performance against Murata and it seems that age is not yet a factor for him?

Or will Canelo wanted to show us that he is back again in his winning form and defeat GGG in a telling manner?
I also ask myself the same questions, but to tell the truth, I start to think that the matches of these boxers, more than all of Canelo's, having lost against Bivol is something that makes me want to see, the option of a trilogy with Canelo vs. GGG was something that I was excited to see, because it was something that produced a lot of emotion, but the performance of these boxers is not good, perhaps some think like me, they have lost the emotion of seeing GGG fight vsd Canelo, I really like to see when a boxer shows his level and wins, really everything would have been different if Canelo had won.

There will still be a lot of emotions in the trilogy. And despite Bivol defeating Alvarez, it will not deter the fans of Canelo to have him fight GGG. We love this two fighters, but after the second fight, it seems that Canelo head and ego grow big as he doesn't want to give GGG his trilogy. But finally, it was set already so again, emotions are going to run high between the two fighters as GGG said that he won both fights and then chase Canelo for many years.

Who will resist expected big money in return just to accept the call of everybody to do a trilogy with GGG? Smiley

Before the fight with Bivol, it was reported that Canelo reached an agreement to fight Bivol plus two more fights in 2022 in exchange for $160 million.

That was just for 1-year fighting and that was an insane amount already that Canelo will surely bag this year, I think regardless of the result. We just don't how much specifically he will earn with the trilogy. That money figure that Canelo expectedly to receive this year alone, contributes to his status as one of having the highest net worth in sports.

That amount is already huge, more than enough for his retirement.
But he has a long way to go to his retirement phase.
Canelo is favored on this match, so the pressure is real.
He should show us a different Canelo here and have a very worthwhile match.

Canelo should show us a different him in this fight? Seriously against fighting with already closed to a retired boxer?

Let's hope instead for a different Canelo once he faced the boxer in his own league, especially against Dmitry Bivol.

This trilogy is just more of an entertainment. If Canelo will lose here, that's a disgrace. GGG still has the power but he is up against a prime boxer. The difference between them is large. It will be more pressure on Canelo to win the fight instead of GGG as the latter is already catching his father time.

I'd say the first match is more controversial rather than the second, I watched the replay and see GGG should won on the first match, but the judges make it as a draw. Imagine GGG was won the first fight and Canelo was won the second fight, the trilogy will be interesting. No offense to GGG, but Canelo will win.

I watched the first match live and I will tell you this - there was no chance that the match ended as a draw. GGG couldn't win the match only because of some horrendous scoring from Adalaide Byrd. This individual just stole the match from GGG. I will tell you this - I have watched dozens of boxing matches and this is the worst incident of scoring that I have ever seen. The second match are more like a draw and third party observers were split in their scoring. But once again, the jury sided with Canelo and awarded him the match. So many years have passed.. and I still feel bad when I look back. Hopefully this time, we will get a clear winner and the controversy will be put down once and for all.

I have not read much of the discussions of this thread and this is my first reply. Forgive me if this question has been asked before, however, does anyone speculate that Canelo might be accepting this fight very early after his loss vs. Bivol? GGG should not be very underestimated for this because it also appears that Bivol gave him the tactic to defeat Canelo. GGG also does not look like an old man in the ring with the wins after the loss to Canelo hehe.

Even prior to the Bivol fight, Canelo has already agreed to fight GGG anyway. And it just so happen that he lost to Bivol. But as I have said, this is already made so Canelo can't back up. I don't think it's early though. I mean this fight should have been made years go after the second fight. But Canelo didn't want to and he was like waiting for GGG to reach 40. Although GGG looks sharp against Murata. The blue print is already there, it's that Canelo's opponent seems to be mystified when they face him. Bivol didn't and uses all his physical advantages to beat Canelo. I don't think that GGG has any advantage though.

Regardless of the outcome of the Bivol vs Alvarez fight, Golovkin vs Alvarez is bound to happen. Canelo knows this specially when GGG sign a multi-fight deal with DAZN, same network with him.

GGG should not be very underestimated for this because it also appears that Bivol gave him the tactic to defeat Canelo. GGG also does not look like an old man in the ring with the wins after the loss to Canelo hehe.

Depends on how you look at it, both are very motivated, Canelo doesn't want to have a back to back loss in his career. While GGG wanting to avenge his only lost. Let's step aside the age factor first, GGG can still fight in my opinion.

Hopefully this time, we will get a clear winner and the controversy will be put down once and for all.
And the prime Canelo will fight against an old GGG Cheesy
Ages is really an important thing in sports, especially in boxing where you don't have enough stamina, quick reflect and good movements, you can easily got knocked out. Though it's not a UFC where you can punch your opponent until the referee see the opponent doesn't have any chance to stand up or fight back, but most of the time when the boxer fell down, it's 90% he will lose.

If a KO take place that will be a better outcome, no more controversies and the fight will point to the real winner, I can see your frustrations not just because you are fan but with witnessing the fight you also have that knowledge base from your own observations, but those long talks about the previous outcome will be possibly concluded on their upcoming fight.

It will be a good challenge from both sides, GGG to regain the title and Canelo to prove that he really deserves his place from this division.

Well.. that is also true. Golovkin is now 40 years old. Canelo should have agreed to the trilogy fight in 2019 or 2020. He delayed the fight without any real reason apart from the fear of losing. But even now, it is not going to be easy for Canelo. All that said, the chance of Golovkin winning by KO is next to zero. It is going to be either KO win for Canelo, or a win for either of the sides based on majority decision. And when it comes to latter, Canelo will always have an advantage since the match is taking place in the United States.

Yes,  GGG is already 40 years old, this fight could have been made in 2019 right after the second fight, prior to the pandemic and GGG still fresh. But Canelo waited for many years, and then GGG somewhat losing his power but still manages to win against a Japanese boxer. Both though really dislikes each other, and this is just the continuation, 24 rounds and yet we are not satisfied with the results. And so this fight is now or never, But right now, I might give the edge to Canelo.

Canelo does not want to fight GGG anymore, but due to the failure of his last fight, he may be thought that he needs another big fight that he thinks he could win so people will forget his previous defeat. This is a chance for GGG to prove that he can beat Canelo because if not, it's better for him to retire after the fight.

Why fighting in United States gives Canelo an advantage over Golovkin? You think because Canelo lives there currently and GGG lives in Kazakhstan? Long time ago GGG has moved to Germany, and I had faced numerous articles claiming he lives both in Stuttgart Germany and Santa Monica US. GGG has same huge army of fans all around the world, and I am sure the venue they will fight, will be crowded by his people, similar to Canelo fans. You would be amazed how GGG is popular in Kazakhstan and how people support him. He wont feel like a visitor during this fight, definitely.
