there are so many examples of the madness of gambling addicts who are determined to make money by criminal means to satisfy their gambling addiction and harm the people around them. like in my city there are some young people who hardly know that they often play gambling and can be said to be gambling addicts. but unfortunately everything was uncovered after being caught stealing a neighbor's own motorbike and some electronic equipment and selling it to get money for gambling.
when the police questioned the man he replied that all this was done just to gamble Slots and he felt if he didn't gamble he would be anxious as if he was addicted.

This is awful to see that gambling addicts can go to any length just to satisfy their gambling urge. Why will the casino allow a 65yrs old man to owe them such huge amount in gambling,which led him to this waywardness. It's too much and I don't think it's just because of the addiction to gambling. There must be other reasons why these things do happen. Loan sharks for example. Let us not talk about the extreme mile of an addict, So many things in life contributes to the WHY behind every addiction. There are many unfortunate stories now that leads to crime, lost of all properties and even lost of lives due to gambling. It's an addiction that gamblers will not realize unless they already loss alot, got in jailed or even worse. Gamblers tends to find ways to keep playing once they into it even they don't have any money left to spend and some do things illegally just to keep playing. I agree, we should learn from these news and prevent ourselves from falling to gambling addiction.  Let this incidents set as an example that if we don't gamble responsibly, control ourselves and moderate our gambling activity, there is a possibility in the future to get addiction to gambling.  we should be warry of these effects of gambling addiction and set as a warning and at the same time limiter for us in engaging in gambling activities.

Unfortunately, these does really exists in our world. Addiction can truly make someone blind because they don't know their boundaries anymore and as well as what is right from the wrong. According to the OP's story, the grandfather didn't really think thoroughly about the possible consequence he could bring upon himself as he was just too busy feeding his addiction towards gambling. These things has becoming more and more normal these days because gambling activities is almost everywhere.

My bad, I didn't go through the article, but I'd like to ask if it was recorded how much he staked from the ransome he received or he didn't receive the ransome at all? I have a reason for this questions, which is, if a drug addict gets mentally ill the doctor will blame it on drugs alone, and neglect other things that contribute to mental illness like bypolar disorder, emotional stress, fustration etc. Similar judgement can be applicable to the old man in question, he is known as a gambler that's why the press quickly tagged gambling as the reason behind his action. • Talking about feeling hopeless, having no reason to live

It must be in their personality. Some people gamble almost with friends who also gambles but they were not addicted. A cousin of mine with carefree personality somehow a free spirited one but has the reckless personality as tackless as she could be, got addicted to drugs. She found God after several rehab, found job and then got into gambling.

Not really suicidal but committed bank robbery on her own like this guy who kidnapped his own granddaughter.
