It looks like image embedding doesn't work either. (Or maybe, it's just my crappy network.) How about running that on a separate machine?

Currently, the entire upload system is down. I had run all the tests, but it seems that when I moved things to production, something went wrong.

My problem was that, when I saw that something had gone wrong, I tried to fix it instead of trying to reverse it immediately.
I am currently in the process of resetting the previous backup point, which is from April 25th. But this has to be done carefully, so as not to lose any information.

I hope everything will be operational within a few more hours. Once again, I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.

Hey joker, do you have any stats on autodeletion?   When I upload I always consider how long the data will be relevant to this community and make a logical choice.     I'm curious if others use this feature but with less than 2GB of storage, it doesn't really matter.

Good point, I am actually particularly lazy on this.
Also, I think that I am not sure how long the image will be relevant, and I am always considering that, maybe someone will be reading my post after a few years, and seeing a broken link is not a good thing.

Last time I checked imgbb and few other hosting services were still working with bitcointalk forum, but we got lazy with using TalkImg

Website is now working fine for me.
Yesterday I wanted to upload one image with TalkImg and I saw the error message, but it was nothing urgent.

TalkImg was launched three years ago. It all started modestly, with the simple idea of ​​presenting a lasting solution for the use of images in the forum. Having already worked with several online galleries, I felt I would be able to offer a service that was competent and appreciated by the community. Believe me, I never expected to be where I am today, three years later, with this project. But a combination of factors helped this project have a significant impact on the entire community since its launch. I thank everyone for all the support they have shown from the beginning.

I can say that this third year was the year of consolidation for the project, which proceeded without major incidents. Over the past year, more than 96,000 images have been uploaded. That means almost 30GB of data. We're talking about an average of 8,000 images uploaded every month. Did you get the impression that so many images were posted on the forum every month? That's without even mentioning the images hosted on other services. Those are incredible numbers, don't you think?

You can see the year's evolution in the next graph, where zero represents the beginning of the 3rd year.


There are a few more numbers that might be interesting to share, but we'll look at these from a calendar year perspective (2025). In 2025, TalkImg was visited more than 756,000 times, and images were viewed on the forum more than 40,600,000 times. The numbers may be higher, since the site uses Cloudflare (at the minimum level), and the data may not be entirely accurate.

A year ago, I promised that this year I would bring some new things to the project. In fact, I had several things in mind, but unfortunately, I didn't have the opportunity to implement them. I won't promise now whether I will implement them next year, but I hope so.

I also said that I was planning a major update, and in fact that's what I've been working on the most. But, unfortunately, things didn't turn out as I had envisioned. Two days ago, I tried to release this update, expecting it to be the kick-off update for Year 4, but it didn't go as planned and had to be postponed. But I'll continue working on it and try to release this update in the coming months.

April is always a significant month for TalkImg, as it was the month it was launched (even if it was at the end of the month). This past April marked the 3rd anniversary of our launch, so we put together a year-end report, which you can see here.

Since last year, I've been mentioning that I'm preparing an update, but unfortunately I haven't been able to implement it. It was while trying to launch this update, coinciding with TalkImg's 3rd anniversary, that a small problem arose. I had planned to release the update on April 26th, but things didn't go as expected, and TalkImg was down for about 8 hours, preventing new image uploads.

When I started uploading the new update, I realized that some of the changes I made would conflict with the active database version. As soon as I detected this situation, a few minutes later, I canceled the update. However, some of these changes had already been applied, causing some conflicts. Initially I thought I had managed to restore the situation, since I had made all the necessary backups beforehand. But for some reason, the backup reset wasn't being applied. After almost an hour of trying to restore the backups, I had to request support from the server's technical team.

The system entered a loop, and therefore the reset was never applied. Because of this, the technical team had to reset the entire server in order to break the loop and ensure the reset was applied. The whole process ended up taking longer than expected because I wanted to ensure that the images remained active and working here on the forum, while also ensuring that none of them were lost during the entire process. Despite the delay, we achieved this goal; the images on the forum were always working, and no images were lost.

If my memory serves me right, I think this was the only time TalkImg wasn't operational during the entire last year. With everything working as before, I will now review all the adjustments I made again, as well as perform more tests, to ensure that nothing conflicts again. Believe me, I always want to provide the best possible service. So, thank you for all your support! Thank you very much.

Basically, the system counts how many times a given image has been requested by the forum's image proxy. Based on this, it is assumed that the images most frequently requested by the forum proxy are the most viewed, following the selection criteria.
