The Red Devils finished in the third position last season which was not a bad result. But they didn't have a fantastic season considering the quality of the players they have. They started last season on a good note but lost momentum later in the league. They have a good history in the Champions League but looking at the quality of Manchester City and other participants of the UCL next season, I doubt if United will make it to the quarter-finals with the squad they currently have.

The thing is that it is not all about the coach alone and a club like Manchester United who have been absent from the champions league for a while before coming back in this season will need more than just a change of coach to make a much impact in this season since history has records of how clubs who hire a good coach still fail out in the season due to lack of corresponding players that will complement the efforts of the coach.

We are well aware of what Manchester United experienced a few seasons ago, which had a very difficult time breaking into the Champions League zone, but that has all been answered with their presence later in the Champions League starting next season. Before Erik ten Hag took over as the manager, the position of the team was not so good, they were mostly in the seventh to tenth position in the points table, but since Erik ten Hag took over as the manager of Manchester United, Manchester United started to improve gradually.
