I believe gambling is treated differently in all parts of the world, other places are so religious such that they see gambling as sin as it's a breeding ground for greed, stealing, suicide etc, in other parts of the world gambling is all fun and games and nobody has a problem with it, and in other parts of the world its new territory that has been treated as a way to make money and maybe a living from it...and if you ask me whatever comes from gambling is the responsibility of the user.

With all what's been said above, if gambling won't affect your social life if others knew you gamble then no biggie but if it can get you in trouble then better keep the habit a secret.

It is very important for us to be wise when we are making any decision of our life. There are some decisions that could affect us not immediately but in a long run that is why we need to be very careful how we expose our quest for gambling. Gambling is supposed to be personal and hidden from people that can get emotional from it. I understand when you say it's a taboo topic, because many young people are getting introduced to gambling nowadays through virtual sports betting casinos, and since these youngsters are still newbies on this matter, they don't have any experience, besides having distorted expectations regards gambling, what inevitably has brought losses for many of them. Therefore, regulators, parents, authorities are concerned about gamblers' routine. that's right, we have our own preferences and our own choices to keep or publicize our gambling activities, I myself prefer to keep it a secret, because in my opinion, even though I win from gambling, it's not something I can be proud of in front of many people, because there are so many people who has a bad view on gambling. This also makes me think harder and consider whether I want to tell other people about my gambling activities.

I have a friend who likes gambling and I think he is very obsessed with gambling, because when he gambles he always shows every good spin to his friends, and maybe his goal is to show off, but every now and then I get annoyed with his gambling behavior eagerly wanting to be praised for his occasional good spin, which I was concerned about when he was gambling how stupid he was always getting winnings but always wasting them, and this didn't happen just once or even many times. You might have your point though just like the OP as well, but I still do not submit to the conclusion that a good gambler who is responsible in his gambling activities, and perhaps making money through it should keep it a secret. After all, you are not ashamed of it, or are you? If Yes, then why gambling? You should have just let go of what you are ashamed of. But if your answer is No, then you make it look otherwise as you are proving that you are not proud of it this way, because if you are proud of it, you will not do it in secrecy but even make it public for all you cared. If gambling is not even earning for you but at the same time not affecting your life negatively, I see nothing wrong in letting people know about it. This is especially because you are not stealing, borrowing, begging and doing all sorts of irresponsible things to get the money to gamble.
