I think people keep their day to day activities secret from people including their family for lots of reasons.
People might feel they would be judged if they open up to friends and family about their gambling interests. We as humans are sometimes too quick to form an opinion and judge others on things we don’t really understand ourselves.

A lot of people would rather keep their activities private to keep tongues from wagging. And there’s also the point of not being proud of what you’re doing for various reasons.
A lot of cultures and religions today might not see gambling as an acceptable activity to indulge in hence the need to keep the habit a secret.

People are different on which there are ones who are really that sensitive and there are ones who dont really care at all.For those people who dont want to be judged or doesnt really like for other
people be thinking up something against them then they would really be definitely be doing up such thing that they would really be hiding on what are the things that they've been doing specially gambling. Cant really be denied that there are indeed people who do sees out this activity to be that bad or something illegal or something that doesnt give out a good thing and to those people who are attached into it would really be that be looked lowly or would be something that like a criminal or simply having those criticisms in mind.On the other hand, there are people who doesnt really that care at all no matter what other people would be saying and as long he/she enjoys on what he had been doing then they dont really care on what others would really be saying about its habit or activity that he/she involved with. In overall, its not really that wrong to gamble in personal perspective as long you do have the control and dont mess up your financial life then it should be fine.

From the culture, race, ethnicity, character and customs that are differences. In general, in any part of the world the average gambling becomes an activity that has a negative flag, especially any religious leader does not encourage gambling and instead hates this activity, so that the stigma in society is created that gambling is an activity that is detrimental and violating religious rules or norms, that It is the reason the average person does not show their gambling activity, because with directly if someone knows it he gambles, it will automatically get judgment from the people around him.

And again a bad and irresponsible gambler and has a severe addiction to make himself a crazy person of gambling to lose his wealth and family due to this activity, which makes people even more convinced that people who do gambling will be detrimental.

And usually these situations could really be seen publicly or would be known on the time that results and outcomes of severe addiction on gambling and this is why people would be normally having those impressions that gambling is bad which there's nothing we can do if they would be seeing that way.Its true that it is one of the most common religious approach in terms of the effects that it would be giving and the other hand would be basically pertaining about greed or in love with money on which in religious kind of approach on which its never been good but well this is for some religions that we do have around and lets just respect on what they are really that believing.This is why you cant really be able to blame people on hiding out their gambling activity just because people around
is really that judgmental on which it would really be that automatically means that they would really be that hiding themselves on the public on the time that they would gamble.

This depends on the country or community the person is affiliated with.  Some country restricts gambling while there are lots of religious and conservative type of people who thinks gambling is a sin.  So the person avoiding these kinds of people and any unnecessary remarks try to hide his gambling activities.

But why continue in what you're not proud of by keeping it secret cause maybe you're worried about what people may say, how their thoughts about your person might change. Or how you might loose ties with someone you hold dear to. And many other reasons that follows.

Gambling is an entertainment.  Oe of the reason why a person continue to gamble is because he is having fun and pleasure engaging with it.  Besides having online gambling platform make it easier to access gambling without the prying eyes of these self-righteous people

Just in fact, people have different ways of finding relaxation and enjoyment, and if gambling serves that purpose for you, it is your prerogative to keep it to yourself. Some people from the Muslim religion will not play the gambling because for their religious discipline.We should respect other religion for the mutual respect.But I had some friends from Muslim religion who was experienced gamblers.They say gambling doesn't affect  their religion,So everyone had their opinion about the gambling.I am a gambler since from my ten years and use to bet with my friends for the little thing and like this my gambling was begin.Gambling give me relaxation most of the time because of it's thrill output.

I think the big issue is that there is still a lot of prejudice against people who participate in gambling.

Strangely, society does not see any problem against those who play in lottery bets that are generally legal in countries, but gambling is still seen as something illegal or immoral in many places.

I believe that this thought is the fault of the players themselves, who do not know how to control themselves, lose a lot of money, get into debt, steal and even kill (in extreme cases) to maintain their gambling addiction, and thus produce bad news about this type of entertainment.

Even just a friendly gamble when we are just young, we just copy it to others, and deep inside us, we really don't know what the meaning of that is, but again, there are really people or some people persuading others to gamble because they can get a cut when the person they invited deposits money. Also, religion is really not involved in it because some religions have banned it, and you're right, others still gamble, which means it is on them as they know that they violated their rules.

But do you think he is doing justice to himself? As he denies his religion by doing an act which is not allowed for him. He is hiding this from everyone but his soul knows that he is doing wrong. I don't know these days people are not so spiritual

There is no wrong if you hide your gambling habit in front of other people. The society today also look gambling as a taboo and thinks it only destroy a people. Yes Gambling addiction can be bad, but if a person is trying hard to earn some extra income through gambling for his family, then no harm is there. There's no sense of showing it intentionally in the first place and it doesn't have to do with being a proud gambler or not. Tell me, what for? If these people want to hide their gambling habit, how's that become a big deal? They have surely reasons why they tend to keep it secret and those reasons might not be valid for us but for them, it's reasonable to do so.

Be it political views, religions, family matters, and so on, only these people knows the real score if they publicize their gambling habit.

The possible reasons why they keep it that way obviously varies with each other. Let's just allow them to behave like that.

We live in a society where people have different views about something and these views could be drawn based on different constituent like personal sentiment, religion, ideology and experience. And speaking of gamble there are those that view it as an irresponsible activity to embark on and whoever is into it is tag as irresponsible guy, for some it beyond being irresponsible but a sin something that is evil,  while some others out of an ugly experience of a loved one that got ruined by it due to extreme addiction.

I guess one area that you should keep your gambling addiction or at least your gambling activity is from your employer. Specially if you are in the business of like handling money like in remittance business or even in banking institutions as they might see this as a negative thing specially if you are still hunting for jobs like in that sector.

Nevertheless, there are also gamblers who doesn't want to be known within their families or friends. Maybe they are not proud of it or they might feel that they will be alienated to that effect.

It is not that I am not proud of what I am doing… It has nothing to do with it. It is just, we don’t need to tell everyone about everything we do. Especially the money stuff. Gambling, investing, business secrets, trading…

Yes you are right that mate every one of us here I had different way of handling our emotions and our every step. So if we are addicted to a specific thing then we have different way to secure our secrets but when the time comes out we can not hide it forever which is no one can hide his/her secret forever. That's why for me it's better to tell anyone that we are involve in gambling or anything that we get addicted.

Not that they are not proud of what they are doing (gambling). But as you said, not everyone, race, government or religion accepts and permits gambling. So therefore, keeping gambling a secret from other people and even from family does not mean that they are not proud of gambling, but more precisely, people who do this choose to maintain all aspects related to their lives, which include maintaining gambling, avoiding reprimands. from the government, and still want to establish good relations with the people around him/his family. So basically, people who gamble, but in a clandestine way, doesn't mean they are not proud of the gambling they do, but in essence they are looking for a safe point as a whole.
Because after all, security will definitely be number one, if gambling in a country is prohibited or illegal by the government in that country.

Me personally too, right now not many people know, that I sometimes like to gamble, but even so I feel comfortable. And even though not many know, I am still proud of the gambling that I have done. Because for me, pride doesn't need to be recognized and seen by others, but enough for myself to feel that pride. Everything I do, I take concern to keep alone myself. People will just want to spoil what they know and have no idea of what they don't know. Well, there can be a lot of things that we don't share with everyone, we should know our priorities and it is us who should know what we do is right or wrong for us, and just because someone else says something is bad it doesn't really make that thing bad until or unless we have that same feeling ourselves. If I see that gambling is making me irresponsible, I'm not earning money or feeding my family, I spend all my time gambling and not doing anything else, that is when I should be worried about what others are saying, otherwise, let them say whatever they want to.

If someone gets mad at me or doesn't want to stay in touch only because I do something that I like and they don't like it then I'm totally okay with that. I don't think the term proud is a good word for it here, because gambling is some form of entertainment that we are doing in our spare time. Do you tell anybody about your habits and what you like to do in your free time? Personally, I think those topics are more for friends and family and not with strangers or colleagues. For me gambling is something like going out to a bar or the movies in an evening, I would talk about it with strangers if the topic comes up. But I wouldn't talk about it freely by my own choosing. The question I would always ask myself is, what benefit does it give me to tell me colleagues at work, or strangers I meet on the street that I gamble? I don't really see any benefit, because they could either think I am a rich guy who made a lot of money in gambling and only wants to brag and show off. Or they could have a negative opinion about gambling and this affects how they see me. I would recommend anybody to be open and honest about your gambling habits with close friends and family members, but don't advertise freely about it. You never know what kind of consequences there could be in the future.
