I agree if you say maybe Brighton's chances this season in Europe are over because it will be difficult for them to chase goals on aggregate in the second leg despite playing at home, but I think the motivation and spirit must remain with the Brighton squad to hope that miracles happen in that game, I think Brighton should play with high motivation and not be burdened with the aggregate number of goals so that they can play to the maximum regardless of the final result that is in line with their expectations, at least they have not given up and have tried their best for the fans and the club.

England teams that are middling teams, except for the big 6, like brighton, they are only very good in England. Their performance drops when they leave the country. They don't care about international games because they do not have enough squad depth maybe, I guess they care about the PL much more. If they play 5 games in the PL, they get more money than the winner of the Europa League. I agree with you regarding Brighton's volatility this season, and that 4-0 loss makes Europa League advancement unlikely. Thinking about the mountain they must climb against Roma in the second leg is discouraging. The unpredictable character of football must be remembered.
