I learnt to be a responsible and a disciple gambler because I am not a good multitasker so there was no chances of me gambling at my work place at the same time being able to offer accuracies with my job.
I am highly dedicated to my job with the fear not just to loose in the gambling but of the fear not to loose my job as a result of improper job execution else I am attracted to  join my colleagues.

Actually, because of laws here in my country, companies are required to give at least 1 hour of free time for workers to rest and have their lunch. I am not an expert in companies' policies but as far as I know any worker could easily get their phone during that resting time and start gambling until their time for lunch/rest is over and the company could not do anything about it.
Granted, it is a completely different situation from catching a worker gambling on their desktop computer during productive hours, but what I am trying to say is that here is valid to use your free time in the company to gamble or even text your friends.
For someone to be fired because doing something like that, would require for the boss to have some religious or ethical rules which would be needed to be explained to the worker before hiring him. As long as one is not perceived as being losing time, then there would not be serious consequences, in the case of most companies and bosses here.

Most employees work their ass on the job with little peanut as a take home pay which is very poor. Like in my country, people are being paid less than minimum wage and majority of them are private companies that makes much but to pay their staff good salary is a problem and that makes their employees feel reluctant in most cases. That is why most of them play games and gamble with their leisure time or when there is not much engagement instead of being productive to their employer.
