Your problem is that you dont set priorities. You gamble for money, I gamble for fun. I have gambling budget and ready to lose it, you have different vision. If I lose while gambling during break for a lunch, I would not get much disappointed. If you lose, you focus on that and it influenced your productivity at work. I would suggest you to decrease deposit amount/amount you allow yourself to lose/amount of a bet and make gamble as a ritual. Do you think he walk around the territory all the time? Or stick to camera monitors? That guy watches TV or movies half of the night, sleep few hours and later in the morning goes home to sleep. He has plenty of time to place a bet and not be distracted by work. Anyway, it depends on the work. Some positions allow to do whatever you want during working hours, some does not even allow to go to take a piss.

Quitting the job is the worst thing someone can do to himself, talkless of a gambler who rely on much uncertainties.
