I've switched mmpool.org to the new variable difficulty mining and will monitor it for stability for the next few hours.

Most of the mining interfaces are now switched to the new automatic difficulty adjustment. The final private address should switch sometime this week if there are no issues. I've updated the information and FAQ on the site with the change.

The password is ignored so can be set to anything. Your private mining address hasn't been switched yet - I can switch it whenever is convenient for you.

I've made some changes to the pool DNS which shouldn't have resulted in any downtime but you may find the IP address of mmpool.org changed, if that's your mining address, depending on where you are connecting from. This is to try some failover on that address and getting lower latency for miners in some areas.

I love the idea of mmpool and my friends and I have mined on it but we left because we hate the Double Geometric Method. I don't need to merry a mining pool. I like to keep my options open. With this hash rate Hashrate (Th/s) 15.03 I am not the only one. I hop from bitminter to eligius.st they have pps and we love it. If you get rig of Double Geometric Method I would come back I bet mmpool would be running about 5,000 Th/s insted of 15. Food for thought. Please reply if you agree.

It is not what is wrong here. right now pool is getting ddos'd again. The problem is if you are a top miner like I am and have 4 or 5 btc riding on each block ddos kills the action. I spent .1 btc with nicehash today and my rejection rate was 50% or more. strictly due to ddos attacks. Other then the pool owner I have to be the biggest person here. I don't mind sending coin via nice hash and my own miners. but when the hash can't be sent and I am looking at a 4 btc payout I get annoyed. I am not the only one. I had a private address which is now not working and the secondary backup is cutting my hash in half. Last block I spent 13 coins. this block 2 or 2.5 I would spend more but with a 50% rejection rate why bother. I end up paying 2x the price to mine here. I believe in this type of pool but with the constant attacks against my pockets are only so deep I just can't pay 2x the price to mine here.

I understand that some miners don't like DGM. The pool won't go to PPS as that's a disaster without huge reserves. I'm open to implementing an optional PPLNS mining end point. Miners that use that get PPLNS, miners that don't continue to use DGM.

I agree - stability, or lack thereof, due to the recent attacks is a major issue. The pool was supposed to fallover to a different mining interface but failed to do that in this most recent instance you encountered. I've fixed that and hope it'll do better when it happens again. It's definitely getting demoralizing - even for me!

still not working rejects are huge.
Fixed the rejects issue - I'm haven't worked out why it happened yet but I'm looking into it. Edit: Maybe not - seeing it with nicehash, but not with solo. Still looking. Edit 2: nicehash seems to have stabailized for me - I'll do more testing today and monitor it. Edit 3: And it's rejecting again. A bit closer to identifying the issue at least. Edit 4: Made a change to try to fix the rejects that occurred in edit 3. Monitoring.

BTW to all of you that say usb sticks are a dumb idea here is an example of how to use a usb mining stick to help test. I am sending in some nicehash/westhash rental.

I'm looking into it - I'm unsure how much implementation effort it is at this stage.

Is this pool pretty much dead because of the attacks?
Would I be wasting my time to continue to mine at this point?
