i use Microsoft's own RDP to access my mining pc
m$ RDP uses its own video driver, so ADL(AMD monitoring and more part of the driver) stops working.
Use VNC. f.e. UltraVNC + DSM plugin. Or TeamViewer.
Or RDP to new session(not console where sgminer should be running) and watch logs etc.
Also at least on W2k8 r2, when screen save+turn display off+lock - temps/freq/etc stop working, prly for the same reason - miner session disconnecting from the console.
To connect to console use /admin or /console(deprecated, XP, 2k3) option when launching mstsc.

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

On each miner using the NiceHashMiner for AMD GPU, I get a warning:
GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT not set
GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS not set
Normally I have:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
in my bat file, but don't see a way to set this in the config file or GUI.

Does the NiceHashMiner/sgminer not need this any longer?
What AMD GPU Driver do you recommend for sgminerv5 and it's current binaries?

Datacenter Technician and Electrician.  If you have any questions feel free to ask me as I am generally bored looking at logs and happy to help during free time.

The latest release 1.2.0.2 sets GPU_xxx environmental variables in the system, so this is now fixed.

As far as drivers we recommend the Catalyst Omega 15.7.1 drivers. The latest "Crimson Edition" drivers are not recommended yet since we didn't test them yet.

Best regards,
NiceHash team.

from what i have tested - crimson is a no go with mining ...

the drivers themselves do not perform - and seems to be doing more damage to the mining environment than good ...

the recommended drivers you suggested ( 15.7 ) are a much better driver - as they not only give a better hashrate - but are also quite stable ...

Is there a Linux version of the mining software?
I put it on my desktop PC and it works great, but it's Windows and most of my cpu's are Linux based.

I see the algo of choice is ScryptJaneNf16, but I don't know of any Linux cpu miners which run ScryptJaneNf16 .

they have yet to make a linux based miner for nicehash ... nvidia or sgminer ...

you can use the other miners ( like ccminer and sgminer ) for mining ON nicehash - but the actual nhminer - not so far ...

The mining market works fancy at times. It's not a good period for the casual miner, that's for sure. But if you do your homework, you can still mine at a profit.
And low rates on nicehash means you can grow your hashrate easily ;-)

If people can get paid 3x more on other pools why would they be selling hashing power on nicehash?  I don't get it

The only other pools that I know of are generating about the same as nicehash on a BTC/TH/Day basis.
I would love to hear about any other pools which are paying significantly higher.
Heck, if they were, I could buy hashing power from nicehash and mine on those other pools and keep the difference.

Yeah I'm aware but the price of BTC is rising rapidly and the price of altcoins is rapidly falling. so doesn't that make spending btc right now on altcoins silly? at least until the price of BTC stabilizes. If you buy 0.2 bitcoin for say $77.29 USD to rent hashing power for altcoins that 0.2 could be worth $100 USD tomorrow...

Ah, altcoins... That explains a lot.
I have been renting my antminers to nicehash for about 6 months now, so altcoin is not in the picture for me.
Except that I do have some cpu's mining alts right now, just in the background, I think I get about $0.20 per day...

Meh confirmed that as a seller on nicehash right now you're losing money. Making more on other pools and as a buyer people keep nudging the price up to the point where you may as well not buy lol... Actually really disappointed because nicehash was profitable not so long ago

For a 290X what do you recommend for the settings in the config file?
Many of the Benchmarks Terminate/crash it seems with the stock settings.
Have played around with them a bit, but only got X13 to work though a bit slow than what it should.

The interface is a little complicated and it requires users to do a mental calculation for the total costs. Imho, miningrigrentals offers a much simpler interface.

290X is sometimes problematic with the optimized version of the sgminer. You can follow these steps for debugging purposes:

1. ONLY IF USING AMD Pitcairn, Hawaii or Tahiti GPUs:
- open Command Line window (cmd.exe)
- change directory into NiceHashMiner\bin\sgminer-5-1-1-optimized\
- run this command: "runme.bat"
- wait 5 minutes and try switching among the three available algorithms, check if all three works

2. FOR ANY AMD GPUs:
- open Command Line window (cmd.exe)
- change directory into NiceHashMiner\bin\sgminer-5-2-1-general\
- edit "runme.bat" and make sure that the line "sgminer.exe --config sgminer-fixed.conf" is uncommented (no "::" in front of the line)
- run this command: "runme.bat"
- wait 5 minutes and try switching among the available algorithms, check if majority works

You can also send us print-screens to support@nicehash.com so that we can help you debug issues.

Also, if you have multiple GPUs, try running NiceHash Miner with only one GPU selected for test.

And of course, make sure you're using AMD Driver Catalyst Omega 15.7.1.

Best regards,
NiceHash team.

Don't worry about diff, it will be set automatically to optimal one. But you can also set it manually: https://www.nicehash.com/index.jsp?p=faq#faqs10
