If you guys are still considering new names for BBR I've been thinking of a couple of suggestions.

I've been looking at Latin words for names because the Roman currency was probably the first worldwide currency to exist. Something that had value everywhere.

Gold has always been scarce and valuable. Gold is mined and traded as money. The Aureus was the most valuable coin the the early Roman empire from what I understand. And the symbol for gold of course being 'Au'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aureus

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Common_Roman_Coins.jpg

Variations(note: I specifically avoid any words ending with 'o' for obvious reasons):

Aureus
Aureae
Aureum
Aureis
Aurei
Aurea

Also, I noticed 'Secore' was one of the suggestions upthread. Going on that theme there is:

Securus
Secura
Securum
Securi
Securae
Securas
Securis

Boolberry itself is not necessarily a bad name. But I guess it depends on what your goals are and what sort of message you want to convey with the name of your currency. As a name in many contexts Boolberry could be a great name. But there's no question that some disregard Boolberry simply because they dislike the name.

One reason I tend to prefer Latin roots over other names like Rune is that some people might associate a name like Rune with a 'fantasy' type image. Like something from a game, or series of novels. Again, it's a solid name, but I'm not sure if it will really click with some people.

On the other hand, the Latin names might go over the head of some people as well. But with the Latin names, they're at least firmly rooted in human history and have a strong association with value and money.

Just thought I'd throw my suggestions in here. I like the work CZ has been doing and I've been impressed with what he's managed to accomplish.

Awesome post Este Nuno ! I love those suggestions.

Really need more brainstorming with the name situation. Kinda hard when the trolls out-voice you and dominate/derail discussions. I really hope windjc/CZ and team are coming up with something interesting. I am fine either way. Just like the innovation and progress here.

I prefer Greek words:

Hoplon, the round defensive weapon that when used en masse (phalanx) was an impenetrable wall (well we need spears too, that could be the 0.00000001 HOP, aka dory).

We can use Aspis instead of Hoplon too..

Picked on the wrong guy. Ask him why he is trolling here, but you must feel proud when your scumbag brothers troll here but get butthurt when windjc posts in XMR and are ever so quick to remind him that he is giving BBR a bad name right? Try a little harder to troll, your subtlety used to be really good back in the day  Wink

No one deserves any trolls. Once trolls go away, this coin can really thrive. You will not be missed.

This is our big fan in the XMR vs BBR thread

goebbels

This threads sucks because it's a tedious rehash with zero original content.

I rate it Zero Bowls of Popcorn.   Angry

Thank you for the Godwin; now we can move on to more interesting and original discussions.

It's absolutely mind boggling that people are spending time/money to keep that shit coin alive and giving a false sense of security to the very people they should be questioning, when the right CN coin is right here. The sad thing from this will be some will depart CN due to all the shit that XMR fanboyism brought itself on to it.

I know some got sucked into the smear campaign launched a couple of months ago, but things should be a lot more evident by now and it isn't too late.

Any help appreciated Smiley

Edit: I think that you need 64-bit linux to compile. Thanks to otila on freenode for help.

Did this get resolved? I think 32 bit is your problem.

Yea, Wolf0 confirmed on other thread that 32 bit won't work to compile. Kinda sucks, since almost every other miner can be compiled on 32 bit os, but oh wells.

Good point. I might have missed the explanation behind keeping it 64 bit. Maybe mbk can assist.

HEY GUYS IMPORTANT

This is what they are saying about us. We need to get our shit together!!

Small community. The core of popularity of each coin, and therefore its profitability is based on the engagement of the community. Creators of Boolberry seem to forget about it. It is not easy to convince big amount of people to your idea, even if you refine your marketing strategies to perfection. In this case, they are not even close. Bad marketing strategies, blurry communication, poor forum support, showing their concerns on every step – this are the signs that the whole think was not thought well. Plus that my grandma has more likes on Facebook.

Some more bad things about us. TIME TO GET OUR SHIT TOGETHER

Unfair? Because of unprofessional behavior of creators of Boolberry, people tend to wander if what they do is not a scam. They look like they are insecure and unsure about their ideas, and the way project looks is changing all the time in its basis. Therefore, the community started asking a lot of questions, such as: “when you stop working will you still get the 5 percent or less? Can this ‘less’ mean ‘zero’?” If another developer takes your place will you still collect the 5 percent or less and the new developer get additional 5 percent or less taxes, effectively now 10 percent at most? Will anyone wish to invest their money in a coin that even the creators does not know what money to take out of it?

reciprocal_value64 needs __int128 support from compiler.
Sure miner could be made to work without __int128 on 32bit targets, by using 64bit modulus operation, but who uses 32bit systems nowadays?  Roll Eyes I have had 64bit since 2006..
