The vocal leaders have left to a dead forum of their own. They should be here but they think they want to get away from bitcoin.

result = this thread

I know a few devs are battling on. But I mean the community strong leader types. OK they only want to play with each other in MEW or something? leaving a void.

Most of the interesting conversation takes place on IRC or on the official forum. Some threads you may have missed:

reminder: there is a button on the lower right that can be used to report off-topic posts.

Please use it when posts are actually off topic or otherwise violate forum rules (and only then)

Oh come on. You are kidding right? Report to moderators? Maybe if they are spamming uncontrollably. But how old are we? We are supposed to "taddle tale" on people to the "grown ups"?

I know this thread is a whole lot of fun right now but let's not forget it has a purpose of discussing Monero. If the post isn't discussing Monero (could be positive or negative doesn't matter) it doesn't belong here. That's not just spamming but it could include spamming.

EDIT: But if people will restrain themselves and not post off topic stuff such as a list of threads about another coin and talk of hypothetical abuse of the trust system obviously intended to intimidate, the moderators need not be bothered.

This thread is NOT a whole lot of fun right now.

^^ that

sorry Sad im sure thats mostly or atleast partly my fault

If one can not confer upon another a right which he does not himself first possess, by what means does the state derive the right to engage in behaviors from which the public is prohibited?

In Italy this has been going on for years. Cash transactions over 1000 Euro are actually forbidden. Almost all merchants, artisans and service providers are forced by law to provide a card payment terminal. Of course there are ways around this and people use them but that's not the point, right?

Interestingly, an increasing number of researchers in top US economics departments think cash should be eliminated, but for an entirely different reason: it lets you avoid negative interest rates. If all money was electronic and had to be held in state-regulated banks, then zero* is no longer the lower bound on interest rates as a monetary policy tool. So you continually lose your savings and have no choice in the matter, but supposedly recessions will become easier to fight.

* In reality, it's more like -0.5% than 0% because of the practical difficulty of storing very large amounts of cash.

But there is already a fix for recessions (default) Sad but of course external funds-reliant "top US economics departments" would want to socialize failures (or systematic collapses) in monetary policy for the benefit of the central banks

So a bit paradoxically, as the nominal value of fiat in that case decreases, "real" paper fiat value increases.

The Battle Hymn of March

With a dash in the dark they say, "No!
How could it be that we're decieved!
They must be lying for show--we know
Our motives are pure! Our hearts relieved!"
But here is where emotion ignores fact
If greed's your code, your code is cracked.

Well, that's what I call "progress". Best of both worlds! BTW: I've been missing progress for a couple of days... Is this the reason we go CCMF? Grin
