Tor is compromised by NSA, so everyone who's trying to hide their financial activity with monero are automatically on their list. Congratulations ladies n gentlemen! (Bitcoin users are not affected) Yeeeaaahhhh you shiner, and if you use Windows your bitcoins are still safe from the NSA Its not about safety, if you want your coins to be safe, just use offline wallet, with paper backups. Its about crime, accountability and punishment. I don't think people looking for Monero coins are planning to buy cookies with it LOL Monero - the reason for crime and cybercrime . But thanks for the unvoluntary Moneropraise. It appears you think that Monero from all the 132124 coins is the only one that actially encrypts and hides transactions. Thanks. I'm gonna invest more in it now.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

It sounds like you've chosen to believe the main stream media rhetoric... and they said the same about bitcoin. In reality the majority of criminal activity uses US dollars. bitcoin and Monero are barely a blip on the radar. The internet was not designed with privacy in mind, and there are some who have literally given up their lives to educate us on the importance of getting this privacy back. Obvious examples are Glenn Greenwald and Edward Snowden. In the same way, bitcoin was not designed with privacy in mind. It's was great idea, but Monero adds the privacy that some of us feel is important.

(Bitcoin users are not affected) You do know that monero's privacy enabling protocol has nothing to do with TOR, right? LURK MOAR! EDIT: And why do you feel the need to come all the way over from Bitcoinland to let us know bitcoin is safer than monero?

I posted this query in the Monero Support thread, and I'm waiting for an answer. So I thought I'd post it here. I want to export the blockchain to a usb flash drive. I am using linux. The path to the flash drive is /media/a/Transcend/ Will this work? monero-blockchain-export --output-file /media/a/Transcend/ https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=652305.msg16938010#msg16938010

not many people use blockchain import / export, so im not surprised you see an error. You could probably get away with just saving the data.mdb onto your SanDisk64GB - no need to export it into raw format.

Want to give you a cheer as a fellow acer 720p misuser (;-) Same here. love the thing with ubuntu. Swapped to 250GB ssd from the measly 16 and havent looked back. And yes: just copy the database folder. Thats all i did after my swap

Is this what you need? If you just want to move the blockchain to a usb and access it from there, you should just move the files (preferably your whole .bitmonero folder) and use the switch --data-dir usb/path/to/.bitmonero-folder when starting monerod.

I was waiting a couple of days for answers at the support thread and here. I finally just did the export, copied it to my flash drive, and restored my chromebook's operating system. The lmdb is no more. If I had known that I could just copy the lmdb (or the complete .bitmonero folder) I would have done so; but I figured, if monero has a dedicated export command, there must be a reason for it. So that's what I used. Now the blockchain is gone and it's going to take forever to sync it. The blockchain import command is going to take something like 30 hours, judging from the rate it's going; whereas just copying the database would only take a few minutes. The import is much slower even than syncing through wifi. What's up with that, anyway? Monero should have a big red warning sign, Don't Use the Export/Import Commands, Unless You Have Grandchildren to Finish the Operation After You're Gone

Yay Monero is hitting 0.011 again. Is this going to continue moving up or it will go down to 0.008 again? This is the 2nd time in 2 weeks I guess. I can sense some people are going to dump again and then rebuy at 0.008/0.009. Hmm, I hope I have lots of time to study the trends.

After doing some recent reading on Monero I think I'd like to try my hand at getting a miner setup, I have never used the CryptoNight Algorithm before so any links to the most recent information would be great.
I was planning on mining with a couple of AMD 280x GPU's, what would be the best/fastest miner for them, what would be my hashrate, what's the best pool and what .bat file settings should I use ?

I know that Monero has been doing a "rebase". Does anyone know what stage they are at with it?
Thanks
