Hi all
It is any wallet for monero like those ledger nano ))) ?
TY
Just to download all blocks is taking so long

Just my opinion, but I think it's better to wait for the blockchain to download. You only have to do it once. For most people it will take a few hours, but on an older/slower computer it can take a day.

However, if you want to use a remote node instead, the instructions for doing so were described a few posts up: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.msg17585178#msg17585178. Will that work for you?

So how do I remotely connect to my own (private) node which I run at home using Monero Wallet GUI or any capable mobile wallet app for that matter? Is it just a matter of using my external (WAN) IP address and port 18081 then? If so, how do I pick which node to connect to if more than one node are running at home either (for the sake of argument):

1. more than one monerod instances in a single machine (not sure if this is even possible - haven't tried it), or

2. a monerod instance in each of more than one machine (most likely)?

What are the possible privacy/traceability scenarios in employing the above method (remotely connecting to my own node that I control)?

You need to set up your router to port forward to the machine that you want to connect to. You also need to allow your daemon to accept remote connects (I think by default it only accepts connections from localhost). I don't think there are any privacy implications.

Thanks for the reply. I'm somewhat networking illiterate so the concept of port forwarding escapes me. The following are the fields/settings under "Port Forwarding" in DD-WRT to be filled in/defined:

Application: ?
Protocol: TCP/UDP/Both (drop-down list)
Source Net: ?
Port from: 0
IP Address: 0.0.0.0.
Port to: 0

Which ones go where?

How do I set up the daemon to accept remote connects?

Point to the workstation/pc running the monerod
Code:
./monerod --log-file bitmonerod.log --restricted-rpc  --rpc-bind-ip 0.0.0.0

What? I only see that as being more positive for Monero. They are targeting centralized mixers like bitmixer.io, which also makes Dash masternodes a target.

Exactly. A post history will reveal that harmani21 is a bagholder for another coin and a troll. And this law hasn't been passed in Holland anyway.

Actually, it was Icebreaker who brought this to everyone's attention. Based on his post history he seems to be heavily invested in XMR so I'm not sure what that's about. Maybe he is abandoning ship like Shen?

I don't see the big deal. This is about a potential regulation in Holland that hasn't even been actualized. People were freaking out to a higher degree when the state of New York passed its ridiculous law, but that turned out to have almost no effect on the price of BTC (or Monero). Even if this law passes in Holland, I doubt it will affect the price of any coin much.

No. So far, nothing definitive has come out [EDIT: with regard to BTC in Holland, not with regard to Monero, which is good to go]. Here's what we do know, at least from a US perspective:

Trump has Peter Thiel, co-founder of Paypal and Mick Mulvaney on his team, and both of them have very favorable views of crypto. Republicans have control of the House, Sentate, and Presidency, and Republicans have been more favorable toward crypto than Democrats (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legality_of_bitcoin_by_country#United_States). For example, the only states that have passed regulations against crypto are Democrat states, such as New York. The three Democrats on the Federal Election Commission voted against allowing Bitcoin donations for Federal political candidates, while the three Republicans voted to allow Bitcoin.

So, given their history and those facts, I think things will be favorable for crypto.

Btw, I'm libertarian, neither Democrat nor Republican.
