Hey guys I've built (and will continue to improve) a pool for Monero. This is only the testing phase and I plan to scale up to a much larger server once this has finished. I would appreciate if you guys are willing to mine on my server. Ideally I need to get a block or two to ensure that the payment system is working correctly. At the moment I am only charging a 1% fee, but this might be subject to change in the future. Let me know your thoughts on improvements. What is it you want to see out of a pool?
coinhash.tk
U need to change the line in the home.html (or somewhere) for calculating hashrate - you currently have it doubled. I think we'd all know if the Monero hashrate went from 30 Mh/s to 60 overnight. You can also set up a private testnet to see if the payments work. The instructions are on the pool code github page.

So where is everyone pulling from to be the most accurate?Nevermind I fixed the problem. Let me know if you guys see anything else.

Does the GUI have an offline/cold wallet with an offline transaction signing feature/functionality à la Armory? If it does, it's gonna be a super-winner. I just saw a video preview of the GUI; already looks awesome: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-n5azwzhwiA

However, moneromooo wrote this functionality into monero-wallet-cli a while ago, Wait, I don't seem to see it on the help menu. Maybe it never got merged. I have no idea which version I'm using. Damnit, my build computer is offline so I can't check. Long story short, the code is there. Maybe Jacquee (second dev funded with donatings for GUI) can get this functionality working after daemon control is integrated into the GUI.

We can only hope that the feature will be incorporated from the get-go since security is paramount. I personally believe that the GUI is a catalyst to increased adoption and therefore the value of XMR. All the more reason to have a secure wallet for such an eventuality.

So now that xmr is a serious coin would you guys recommend holding it in my portfolio for later in life or did it just have its minute of fame and its going to die like ltc did.
Just wondering.

As someone who has been long on XMR for quite some time, I would say, yes, it's absolutely a good investment for "later". However. Anything can change, this is a new realm. Point was, I am still buying. Edit - have been using the compiled linux gui a bit, found a bug once, but it's shaping up to be a good release in the end, everything worked for me except a few minor bugs. Feeling pretty confident about things overall. Cheers! Edit 2 - This is NOT investment advice, merely opinion!

It will probably be easier to trust your own research than the opinions of strangers on the internet. Start with the cryptonote whitepaper, then check out getmonero.org to see what makes Monero different and if it's something you want to be involved in. If you're still not sure, then you probably shouldn't be throwing money at it.

No idea, really. My comment "better safe than sorry" is based on the simple fact that *if* the SD card wears out you can easily replace it. If the phone's internal flash wears out your phone is toast.

Hi Guys
New to Monero. It seems to take ages to get synced with the blockchain on OSX. How do I get the blockchain.raw file imported? The log is: 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969689 Starting... 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969801 Setting log level = 0 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969855 database: lmdb 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969874 database flags: 0 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969889 verify: true 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969905 batch: true batch size: 5000 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969925 resume: true 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969941 testnet: false 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969955 bootstrap file path: /Users//.bitmonero/export/blockchain.raw 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.969975 database path: /Users//.bitmonero 2016-Nov-29 17:57:41.981781 Loading blockchain from folder /Users//.bitmonero/lmdb ... 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.167175 Blockchain initialized. last block: 86098, d898.h9.m26.s55 time ago, current difficulty: 397963397 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.167746 WARNING: batch transaction mode already enabled, but asked to enable batch mode 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.180658 bootstrap file recognized 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.180736 bootstrap file v0.1 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.180767 bootstrap magic size: 4 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.180795 bootstrap header size: 1024 2016-Nov-29 17:57:54.180815 Scanning blockchain from bootstrap file... This question is probably better off in the Monero speculation thread. 2. You should not buy any altcoin solely as an investment. Do you understand how Monero works and what value using it can provide? If you cannot answer those basic questions, then don't buy Monero.

Do you understand how Monero works and what value using it can provide? If you cannot answer those basic questions, then don't buy Monero. Plenty of people have done exactly that and made a lot of profit. Like it or not, speculation is an important factor in any altcoin's evolution. But yes, this kind of chat belongs in the other thread.
