The installer package is actually kind of useless for us right now because it doesn't include the motogame.exe  Undecided

The motogame.exe gets compiled separately, outside of the gitian workflow.  (Hence why it doesn't end up in the installer package.)

If you do build it there is a very good chance that our hashes might not match.  (Different versions of visual studio or whatnot can easily lead to non-matching builds.)  I briefly looked into what it would take to get the motogame.exe build into the Gitian build so we can more easily "cross-confirm" it as well, but this is something that will still need some "R&D" time to sort out.

Excellent.  Now that you have the environment and skills to do this you can confirm other coins too, and better avoid scams!

I will send you a little something when C-Cex finally upgrades their daemon.  (I was told they were working on it, but I'm about to go bug them again now while the block-explorer is building the new wallet.)

It should be noted that just two people comparing hashes is not enough to really assure safety.  You and I might be conspiring or you might even just be me, a "puppet" account.  Of course you and I know these aren't the case, but no-one else does!  We need at least 1-2 more people joining in the fun!  (WilliamLie can you offer a third check on the hashes?  I suspect nobody would believe you and I would collude, hehe.) The more the merrier, in this.

We are finally approaching the new fork point, less than 100 blocks to go so we should be there easily within 1-2 hours.

With the more rapid anti-warp adjustment we should quickly see what the limits of the bot really are.  I suspect that it will "max out" well before we get to the first TT re-target.

If all goes well, today should be a great day to start human mining again!

(EDIT:  The bot is spitting out version 4 blocks, so it is already upgraded to the new fork point.  Buckle up everyone, here we go!)

Fork point was passed cleanly.

Now we just wait for blocks 210200 and 210400 to see how the new anti-warp adjustment does.

The bot seems to have, when upgraded, introduced some new/changed throttling logic that appears to try to keep anti-warp difficulty down.  It is also still adjusting it's solutions (whenever possible) to leave as little time on the clock at the end of it's runs as it can.

(EDIT: Either I spoke to soon, or the bot operator just loves to make me wrong.  As soon as I posted this, the bot started going full steam, solving most blocks in 5-10 seconds and pushing hard on the warp.  Very strange behavior, it will be interesting to see how this all plays out today!)

This would imply that the combination of high anti-warp and low TT is something the bot operator very much fears which would, in turn, imply that we are on the right track here.  Because this bot seems to be so afraid of a low TT, I think the best thing would be for human miners to start focusing on lowering TT as much as they can!

I'll pop in with another update as soon as we hit the first new anti-warp target.

The first anti-warp re-target has been hit and everything seems to be on track.

Code:
GetNextWorkRequired Game Sum: 1479892
GetNextWorkRequired 2 nActualTimespan = 1365250
GetNextWorkRequired Old work: 1F074000
GetNextWorkRequired Mid work: 22008000
GetNextWorkRequired Proposed work: 1F068000
GetNextWorkRequired New work: 1F068000
GetNextWorkRequired New nBits: 1F06DF7D

We should be back to the 0x1F010000 point in pretty much no time.  I expect warp to be gone and human mining to be possible again (meaning blocks aren't coming in faster than TT) within a couple of hours.

(EDIT: The bot is already slowed a bit by the increased requirement.  I just mined a block by hand.  It was crazy difficult, I had to play at an increased frame-rate, and it took me about 30 minutes of trying, but I got one.  My rule of thumb is that if I can mine a block by hand, anyone can, since I am probably one of the worst players ever.  Now we have ~50 blocks to the next target, and it will only get easier for humans from here!)

I guess you have not been watching the thread over the past week or two?

Blocks are fast but will get slower every 200 until the bot can no longer warp.  At that point everyone will have, on average, at least TT time to solve any given block.

Anti-warp still getting more difficult.  The 0x1F040000 point is where we saw the bot start to slow last time.  So far the bot still seems to be going strong, so I'm guessing it might have more hardware behind it now than the last time we were at this amount of anti-warp.  We will know for sure when we see how it performs around 0x1F010000 and beyond, which we should hit within another 2-3 adjustments.  (So 400-600 blocks.)  If it continues to outpace its own historical rates at those anti-warp targets then I think we can safely assume that more hardware was thrown in.

Huzzah!  Thank you!

Eventually we will want to exchange some pubkeys around and actually sign attestations, so that people aren't trusting these bitcointalk accounts not to be compromised... but for the time being I think that is not so important.  The important thing is that we now have 3 people who all formally concur that the builds match the source, so everyone can be confident that there is nothing nasty hiding in the wallet itself, at least!

Today marks a double victory for MOTO, in my view!

Just got another block by hand, so human mining is certainly possible already, if you are persistent!

Block 210600 and the anti-warp continues to build strength:

Code:
GetNextWorkRequired Game Sum: 1475982
GetNextWorkRequired 2 nActualTimespan = 1043000
GetNextWorkRequired Old work: 1F04C000
GetNextWorkRequired Mid work: 214B8000
GetNextWorkRequired Proposed work: 1F034000
GetNextWorkRequired New work: 1F034000
GetNextWorkRequired New nBits: 1F035F7F

Some pointers for anyone trying to human mine right now while things are still settling into an easier state:

  • Play in overview mode
and full-screen helps.  I think with the game the way it is now playing "zoomed in" is a death sentence.

  • Play at a fast framerate
I can only win if I hit X key about 3-5 times when I start.  I think it would be extremely difficult to win while the bot is still able to warp without also doing some warp yourself.

  • Iterate maps quickly
but only after the bot has just solved.  Find a solvable map as fast as you can, and then stick with it.  If you give up on that map don't even bother trying to find a new one right away, just wait until the bot solves and *then* do your new map searching.  You want to do your map searching as quickly as you can in a new block, doing map searching in the "middle" of a block ends up being just pointless and frustrating every time.

  • STAY CALM
You will find a lot of situations where you are very nearly there and then run out of time either to the clock or the bot.  Just shrug it off and move on.

I've gotten four now, but the bot is still quite a challenge even though it is progressively slowing.  I've also seen (EDIT: at least... I think maybe 2-3 now!) one other human miner active so it isn't just me, human mining really is coming back!  I'm excited that we might finally be able to get some distribution back to our hash-rate now.

Now I find myself sitting here feeling like 200 blocks couldn't possibly go by fast enough!  C'MON 210800!

If I find myself repeatedly getting close to the coin and then losing to the bot, I just hit X again once or twice more.

Playing at too much of an increased frame-rate can get a little intense, though.  This game is maybe not recommended for people with heart conditions, right now.  Cheesy

So I got 5 and was very close 4 times.. About 90 minutes of playing..

I have a strange idea: maybe we need to create a coefficient of warp.. About 1.2 - 1.5.. I mean that playing with some reverse take for human about 1.2-1.5*time to reach coin.. But bot public the solutions fast and antiwarp will arrive to point slowler and slowler..
