Anybody mining now? (without bots, manually)? Price seems to be healing bit by bit, atleast its in old digits now. Glad I bought some when it crashed but if only I had decent volumes there would be some serious profit right now.

Yes, and it is not so hard right now (25 sec levels).

The hard part right now is not so much the 25 second difficulty itself.  The hard part is the frequency of map resets.  Finishing a 25 second level in 1 minute should be quite possible even for un-skilled players, normally, but it is currently somewhat rare that we have 1 whole minute between blocks.  (On the bright side, we are one of the fastest tx processing networks!)

Quote
Some my of friends mining to, but they mine just for fun. But 3-4 June it was very-very hard.

Yes, and I suspect that it will soon get harder.  I think now that the cat is out of the bag it is likely that more and more people are working on implementing machine mining.  This would make the game very unplayable by humans until devs settle on and implement patches.

So, is anyone going to release a bot?
They could make it mine one block for them every 20 blocks (5% fee) starting with the first block or something.

No idea.  I was simply informed by developers that it is no longer being offered.  Mention of bounties and giveaways were removed from original post over the weekend.

This wouldn't work, nothing prevents someone from simply removing/disabling the fee code.

Bot buying/selling seems increasingly risky to me right now.  Probably it will be much more realistic to be able to buy/sell/trade bots after bots are more commonplace.

First, why would devs sell off coin that was supposed to be held in reserve for bounties and giveaways?  This does not reflect very well on the project.  Have the devs lost faith in their own coin so quickly?

Second, as has been pointed out earlier in the thread it appears that some (most?) of the pre-mine is still largely untouched.  All of the lumps were moved from their origination addresses around the same time, but it doesn't appear that they all went into exchange: most have just sat at their second location.

If the devs are giving up on the coin, does it mean that someone else should step up and consider taking over?

If the devs are giving up on the coin, does it mean that someone else should step up and consider taking over?

What I find most fascinating about this whole situation is that it is an excellent example of the democratic consensus mechanism that is a blockchain in action.  We have a network with multiple bot operators, and a public attack vector that those bot operators could potentially exploit.  Any two of the (now probably) ~5-10 bot operators could certainly collude and basically kick the other bot operators off of the network.  The coin could have been destroyed in a heartbeat.

Instead, two of the original three bot operators not only decided to "mine for good" but to actually scale down their own profits in order to keep skilled human players in the game.  The third known-at-the-time bot operator never disclosed themselves, but appears to have more or less "followed suit."  The new bot operators are behaving similarly.  Apparently, we're all simply voting that motocoin can and should continue and succeed.  As more and more machine miners show up and cast their votes, hopefully aligned with our current consensus, it will become increasingly difficult for someone to simply overwhelm the process and ruin the fun, even despite the known weaknesses in the coin.  When those weaknesses are addressed, MOTO will suddenly become one of the strongest and most secure networks there is.  (If we handle things just right, it should also be able to remain one of the fastest at tx processing, because of the bots, too!)

If the original developers don't step up and address both these known weaknesses and the inconvenience caused to the less skilled players then I suspect that someone else certainly will.  Patches will be proposed, and regardless of what the reference client decides to do eventually the majority of miners will concur to adopt one.

The story of MOTO is only just beginning to unfold, but it could still just end at any moment.

Blocks 22000 to 23999 were mined in 24 seconds each, average. Humans are out of the game, whether some bot operators limit their bots or not.

I think that pretending this could still be a human minable coin is pretty useless, I'm actually more curious as to how low the target time could get if all bot operators went full power at it.

Very refreshing to see an altcoin that is actually bringing something innovative to the table.

I envision a world where all the shitcoins die out and only BTC and cool alts like this one remain  Smiley

New target time is interesting.  At 17 seconds humans will start to find things a little more difficult, to say the least.  Bot profits will decrease slightly for the current generation of bots, and we should begin to see smarter bots coming online, particularly now that people have had time for real research and experimentation, instead of spending time on getting initial implementations online.  (Not to mention that quite a few hints/pointers have been given out in various venues, now.)

I think we will quickly see a situation where both humans and "naive" bots are thrown out by the combination of targettime and the "block latency race."  My "Flipper" bot is probably right on the line here, since it is only slightly more advanced than brute force methods.

Reducing targettime isn't as easy as just throwing more hardware onto your rig and making a slightly bigger energy spend, of course.  This downward push in targettime is because bots got slightly smarter as their operators learned little things from eachother, and as they improved on those things.  However, this cat-and-mouse game won't last long, just until the real AI methods take over.

When I finish the replay viewer you should integrate it as well (it is all client side JS with emscripten, so you could more or less just "drop it in" to the page) so people can have everything in one place.

Ok, let me know when it will be ready.

That's sad ... bad exchange reputation to the money  Angry  Developers must never sale their coins in such situation.

The premine was tiny. I played a lot at the start and got like 10% of it.

By premine we mean the three 150k coin coinbases that were generated in the genesis block, not any coins anyone played the game to win.

EDIT: If it is true that all 450k coins were sold off this would account for the vast majority of the selloff triggered by miniminer's panic dump.

I was thinking the same... that maybe it wasn't botowners who crashed the price after all.
But still the premine was tiny: what I meant was that I got 15k coins just by playing the game, 10 ppl like me is one devs premine.
