That was an extraordinary effort by Costa Rica for this game and a hell of a run
Came from the division of hell fought against Greece and pushed my favorites to the very edge
Don't think the other teams will push the Netherlands as hard as Costa Rica did.
This brings Netherlands to the semi finals in line with my predictions but I almost had to switch sides there

Yep Respect think about it they are a small Central Latin American country that has never been in the semi-finals of the World cup and represents an area of it that has not been in the Cup for a long time.
Considering that they won the bracket against Spain England and Uruguay they already deserve props for winning through that then taking Greece out and pushing Netherlands to penalty shots that is far from a disappointment.

I don't think having 10 defenders is worthy of respect, they intentionally tried to stall the game and win by penalties.

Stalling the game is pretty easy compared to actually playing to win, and CR did absolutely not play to win.

To claim that they played on equal grounds with the Netherlands would be exaggeration, the Dutch were dominating the entire match.

Costa Rica always played a defensive type haven't really seen them offensive although I was expecting a Netherlands win in the end just wasn't expecting it to go to penalties.

Either way for Costa Rica, its World Cup has already been a triumph a new high score . Pura vida.

i like the netherlands and they dropped out 2012 after closely missing their great chance in 2010

but costa was a sympathic newcomer and underdog,
would have been nice to see them keeping a good 2nd place against us in the finals!

haha it's Messi vs the whole Dutch National team.

Messi is a good player but he can't win it from a powerhouse like the Netherlands on his own.

The Netherlands will either win or get close second place, but i think this will be the first win of the Netherlands, and they deserve it too.

Germany will be second place. Argentina probably 3rd.

4-3 in the penatly shootout, Netherlands still win, as predicted.    Game was a lot closer than I had predicted, I imagine Netherlands would at least score 2 goals before 90 minutes.

I agree here. Costa Rica's strategy did not change from other matches. Their playstyle is based mostly on being defensive and when the chance is found, try to quickly stab through their defenses with a few players and score. It didn't really look this way for most of the match because they simply had no good control of the ball until the very last 5 minutes in the second overtime half, where they noticeable did attack. Respect for the team.

On a side note, it amazes me how fast and resistant Robben is. It's like his blood is full of red bull.

Yeah, i put netherlands -1 but only small amount,because i had the feeling of a close match or even a costa rica win all the week.

Robben its a true warrior, in the game vs Mexico, not counting his dive, he made an amazing job, in fact that victory was because of him, got the ball from midfield to corner zone like 8 times in 10 minutes.
