PMs sent out to EVERYBODY.

gjhiggins has proposed to be the NEW DEV of BEECOINV2. Please read below:

(either cognitive scientist or artist would be nearer the mark)

With respect to curating the Beecoin “community chest” ... as a cognitive scientist who has had a career of being paid to think *very* clearly, I take careful note of the results of research into “thinking” because  of the implications for my own cognition:

Money Priming Can Change People’s Thoughts, Feelings, Motivations, and Behaviors: An Update on 10 Years of Experiments, Kathleen D. Vohs (2015), Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 144(4), e86–e93.

Quote
Caruso, Vohs, Baxter, and Waytz (2013) posited that because money is used in free market exchanges, cues of money would lead people to justify and support the systems that allow those exchanges to take place. Hence, the authors predicted that money primes would boost system justification, social dominance, belief in a just world, and free market ideology, and found supportive evidence. Rohrer, Pashler, and Harris (2015) failed to replicate those effects. This article discusses the factors that predict priming effects, and particularly those pertinent to differences between Caruso et al. and Rohrer et al. Variations in a prime’s meaning, the ease with which primed content comes to mind, the prime’s motivational importance, and the ambiguity of the outcome situation influence the impact of the prime. Money priming experiments (totaling 165 to date, from 18 countries) point to at least 2 major effects. First, compared to neutral primes, people reminded of money are less interpersonally attuned. They are not prosocial, caring, or warm. They eschew interdependence. Second, people reminded of money shift into professional, business, and work mentality. They exert effort on challenging tasks, demonstrate good performance, and feel efficacious. Money priming is not the same as priming another popular means of exchange, credit cards, and can have bigger effects when there is an implied connection between the self and having money. The practical benefits of money have been studied by other disciplines for decades, and the time is now for psychologists to study the effects of merely being reminded of money.

From my perspective, a lot of Vohs' work is both pertinent and significant in the context of building a broad understanding of how an altcoin community functions across the board. It's why I'm comfortable with the responsibility of curating the “community chest” and also why it is that I won’t be holding any Beecoin personally.

It's not that this research can give a precise vector for the wind of change (degrees, minutes, seconds, strength) but it can fairly reliably indicate the originating quadrant and that is useful if one's task is to construct a windbreak to protect the fire (to take the analogy rather too far).

The windbreak? Well, it's complicated (as is always the case when groups of people are involved) but you might get some hints from the explanatory blog post in my standalone web “app“ (in that it uses javascript) that I'm using as example content for a “publishing by OP_RETURN” investigation that I'm pursuing (more of which, later).

The web app is just a page of HTML/CSS/JS with the page-specific resources embedded as base64-encoded strings. It's currently parked on my server but in principle, it can be served from anywhere, e.g. torrent and the magnet id inscribed in the OP_RETURN data (a la web2web) or, in my other approach, a semantic web RDF graph. But that's not important right now, it's the content of the post which might throw some light on my understanding of how to remediate the inhibiting effect of money priming on prosocial behaviour and attitudes because it's strength in the latter that underpins a successful altcoin SIG.

A different perspective on cryptocurrency

Cheers

Graham

thanks for sending that out John great work.

I hope we can regroup beecoin from here and make a fresh start.

so what are we searching in a new dev ?

and has somebody already someone in mind that it could be ?
We don't know what is happening right now - we are still waiting.

As I mentioned in a prior post, some time back I worked with cryptohunter on an Abe block explorer for Beecoin but, as ever, Soopy simply procrastinated to the extent it became a little embarrassing so we just let the issue drop for sanity's sake.

Anyway, I PM'd cryptohunter and offered to have a look into refurbishing the codebase. It would be incorrect to describe me as a dev (either cognitive scientist or artist would be nearer the mark).

I'm investigating a number of upgrade options, all involving tradeoffs around i) limiting the effort and ii) the likelihood of introducing bugs. The idea being to upgrade the codebase, optionally precipitating a hard fork and allowing the community an opportunity to redress some debilitating distribution infelicities.

Cheers

Graham

A combination of an artist and a cognitive scientist sounds pretty much like a perfect mix for the "dev" role.
This is much appreciated.
Thank you!

Can everyone start to sync up your wallets and get the networking ticking over.
Plus if any kind of action is required we don't want people left behind.
Spread the word to all and any other beecoiners you know.

Also keeping this thread active is key to attracting new interest from new people joining this board.

No complaints here if Graham thinks he can move it in a good direction.  I wanted to put in the effort into reviving it until someone scammed us into voting fakeBEE onto an exchange. Been too busy to deal with that since.

Best of luck graham. PM if you need any particular help with other aspects.

I'm sure graham will welcome any ideas or help. That's really nice of you to help too.

Great to see a few old faces back on this community thread.

Thanks to all those getting their wallets up and going again too .

I too will give all help that I can to bringing beecoin back and making others aware of the project.

All of us here have a lot of  value and all of us can help in some way to revive the community and beecoin. Just because we may not have great technical skills in cryptography or such matters (some here do of course) that does not mean we can not be a valuable member of the community with ideas and enthusiasm.

Ideas are key to innovation. The dev of a coin can only so many ideas themselves so any good ideas for beecoin you have post them here. Any GREAT ideas you have for beecoin then perhaps PM graham direct Smiley

I wonder if we might be able to twist dans arm and get beecoin added to blocknet early on once we finalise the design Smiley would be a nice little bump for beecoin.

This coin looks promising. What's the best way to mine it with a 1080ti?

The first one is running off've our rented Hetzner box, should be good for a few weeks yet (until we upgrade), the rest are from “getpeerinfo” on that box ..

Let's BEEgin.

Actually, it's already BEEgun and has reached stage 1, just yesterday evening I finished a rebranded clone of PIVX (as suggested by cryptohunter and whipped on by GREEDYJOHN):

It's not so much a hard fork as a complete change of vehicle, necessitating a snapshot of the extant BEE2 chain with UTXO balances programmatically transferred to the new chain. You'll get to keep the same addresses, same keys, same balance except that Beecoin is now running off've a Core 0.12 PoS + masternode coin.

Time to drop the "2"

Cheers

Graham

Hey All,

Haha the news has spread wide and far I guess.

I'm back peeps.

Let's BEEgin.

Warm Regards,
~SoopY~

NO CHANCE

you had your chance and you blew it several times over. Beecoin is a wreck with no exchange and no community almost due to your neglect.

We have someone reliable to help beecoin now. Please do not attempt to sabotage this project again.

You are no longer the dev of beecoin due to being far too unreliable. I find it VERY suspicious indeed that you show up after months of being gone each time beecoin has someone new interested in helping only to put them off then vanish again.

I am 100% behind graham assisting beecoin from here on. Anyone else who is a valid member of this community that has post history in the beecoin threads of course can voice their own opinions but I hope you will 100% realise that soopy although not entirely bad has been very unreliable and shows up at the worst times possible to only then vanish again.

If graham wants you to assist him in anyway then that is for him to decide but NO WAY will I support you being lead dev here again.

The best thing you can do is return the 288LTC (well 1/3 was yours actually) and leave beecoin alone.

You helped beecoin to a degree so we are grateful for what you did do. But no way can you be allowed to keep beecoin down by constantly vanishing and neglecting it for months and months at a time.

We need to build a reliable solid community and we need a reliable solid leader - you have proven you do not fit this description many times over.

I used to believe you were just busy and over worked and neglected beecoin for good reason. I have since started to suspect almost mal intent towards the project and do not wish to give any opportunity for beecoin to suffer further.

Also you have the dev tax collecting wallet so are you going to turn that over to graham now? since you took your 1BN actually 3BN and dumped them so you surely do not deserve to keep the tax collecting wallet do you?
