Another over-promise, under-deliver coin.

Yawn.

You don't even know who the team members are.  It's some random group of anonymous people.  Good luck with that.

Come to real coins making real progress.

This was pump-n-dump, and it was dumped already.

Don't forget- the "rogue" dev is still out there with all the coins he bought cheap, waiting to dump at any moment.

When someone says "Good luck" that means he leaves the thread...that is the best you can do, I apreciate that. Smiley

Ok but we don't care, it's your problem if you are a FBI agent and you want to know who is behind this coin.

Non-anonymous devs are corrupted by the FBI.

If you are not a FBI agent then your mentality is pretty childish and if you are a FBI agent then your skill is pretty bad  Smiley

Has this coin always been marketed as "almost impossible to trace" , to me im not sure if its worth it, there are many "almost" solutions, I can swap coins with a friend if I wanted "almost" , I thought the whole thing with this coin was that it was going to be anonymous, "almost anonymous" doesn't sound as catchy.

Bitcoin is also almost anonymous.

Bitcoin is not even close to being anonymous.

Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous like an IP address.  If you use TOR, it's very very difficult to trace an IP address.  If you use TOR at a public Internet cafe, then you become acceptably anonymous.

If you buy Bitcoins from Local Bitcoins, run it through a mixer and send it to an online exchange to buy LTC, then move the LTC to another exchange and buy BTC, then it's going to be nearly impossible to track to an individual especially in small amounts.   The BTC/LTC conversions may not even be necessary, but would help for resisting taint analysis.

MAC spoofing is not that hard, but most people don't bother right now.

If you buy Bitcoins from Local Bitcoins, run it through a mixer and send it to an online exchange for LTC, move it to another exchange and buy BTC, then it's going to be nearly impossible to track to an individual especially in small amounts.

If you use TOR, then it becomes very hard to establish link bitcoin (address) <-> IP address. This doesn't mean that you can't be identified as an individual (you're not anonymous in this sense).

Bitcoins are anonymous in the sense that data stored in blockchain actually means nothing (its only numbers). But as soon as some "objects" (wallet addresses, transactions, maybe even off blockchain transactions on exchanges etc.) can be linked to you, you become vulnerable. If somebody is interested in you, it can start tracking you starting with this "object".

Most people will sooner or later leave something on the internet that can be used to link some "objects" to them.

For example, If you want to spend your final bitcoins or if you try to sell them for USD and withdraw your money, you will probably have to reveal your identity (to an exchange or to a merchant etc.).

Mixers may store logs and they can be even forced to store them because they get orders from the authorities (courts etc.). Exchanges store logs by default and they can also be forced to reveal info about you or your transactions. In fact, more and more exchanges demand that you send them copies of ID cards etc.

The guy that sells you bitcoins via local bitcoins can also be tracked by similar means.

Most people do security mistakes sometimes (for example, they forget to use tor one single time, they make mistakes when sending bitcoins and they create transaction which accidentally "links" two different addresses etc).

So if somebody has enough resources and motivation, it is very likely that your identity can be revealed. The question is if you're important enough that somebody will use their (limited) resources to track you.

It seems that you're somehow mixing different layers in OSI model.

MAC address is important only in your local network (LAN). Your MAC address is not visible or accessible outside your local network anyway, no matter whether you use TOR or not.

But whether the local network should be trusted or not is another question.

I am just_me

Look, I was involved with gldcoin, and I remember how gldcoin works.

I remember his methods, and I remember his mannerism.

trust me, ccryptcoin looks just like gldcoin did.

I would swear its the same person, I even said out loud.

But gldcoin has mutated and grown, and changed over time.

Now you see what gldcoin(the person who used that alt name anyways) has become.

gldcoin is ccryptcoin

ccryptcoin is gldcoin

Microguy told us he had to threaten gldcoin with real world police,

and Microguy knows who gldcoin is/was, so Microguy knows who ccryptcoin is as well.

So, we can find out who ccryptcoin really is, if my theory is correct

Trust me, gldcoin is ccryptcoin, and this same person is only interested in making some btc

and moving on to other things, and has no interest at all in the future of the coin.

gldcoin/ccryptcoin lacks the social skills to do that, so he just dumps all his premined coins,
and although able to program and make coins and do other technical stuff, he will not
stick with the coin.

Its the same person.

First trust me should not be in your vocabulary dude, also cryptowest and mindfox have been around for awhile and both are solid guys, i don't know about anybody else involved but your way off on your delusion with those 2. I don't see either of them trashing their rep with more coins being created and opportunities always on the horizon. Whatever your on send me some, i want to be so high and paranoid i'm convinced all coins are made by one imaginary multi-personality guy. I hear Project Mayhem is recruiting though if you think you have the sack for it.

Is this a joke?

Why don't you just create completely new coins? New coins are made daily. Why do you want to use coin with such "history" and probably not-so-excellent reputation?

Mindfox is freelancer, he will work on any coin if you pay him. He is not "tied" to cryptcoin AFAIK.

EDIT: How do you know that devs abandoned this coin? Did I miss something?

I was talking in general. Bitcoin is anonymous compared to Credit Cards/Wire Transfers or other money transmittings.

To me the Darkcoin approach looks the most promissing to get true anonymity somewhen.

You probably won't get any kind of "true" anonymity from DarkSend. In current whitepaper there are too many edge cases when the blockchain analysis allows finding which output belong to which inputs with very high probability. DarkSend by itself really doesn't prevent reuse of addresses and doesn't prevent linking different addresses to the same wallet (user).

DarkCoin implements CoinJoin concept. For example, in some implementations of CoinJoin it is even possible to determine which outputs belong to which inputs by eyeballing:

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/27rsv8/confirmed_blockchaininfo_shared_coin_is_broken/

DarkSend will make blockchain analysis just "harder", but still far from impossible.

The paper is a few months old - the spec has changed since then.

The inputs/outputs by eyeballing may occur in normal coinjoin, but do not apply for DarkSend where inputs are identical (denomination of 10 DRK).

http://explorer.darkcoin.io/tx/56b3b95b76995d3e4d3107cf753c8496493010f625fc04d971e9262d74e6a5a5

As you can see, inputs are 10-10-10 and the published analysis of input/output matching for coinjoin can't apply for DarkSend.

There are other weaknesses, like the linking of change, which'll need improvement.

I'm just getting sick of all the "fresh" accounts posting here. If people believe in what they are saying, they should speak their minds and not hide.
