No offense mate.. I checked again, now it works!
An hour ago I entered an adress, pressed "Check Adress" and nothing
happend. No result. Tried it with Chrome and IE and different adresses.
Did you change something in the meanwhile? Now it magically works.

The price spiked above $8.40 today. Is there any reason for this other than that this coin is suddenly discovered by wealthy investors?
I already thought CLAM would be worth more than $10.- at the end of this year, but couldn't it wait until I had a lot more of it?  Grin

Could someone please assist?

I have two old addresses (BTC) containing CLAM, of which I have the private keys only, no wallet.dat files.

I seem to be able to import the address in to the (Win) Clam wallet, using 'importprivkey' within the debug window. Running the 'importprivkey' seems to work, as the address is then listed in the 'receive' window, however during running the importprivkey command I am returned with an empty error (see this: ) and my clams balance is zero, still.... I've tried both WIF (as per screenshot) and BIP format (fails -5 error as expected.)

  • My clamclient is fully synced with the network.
The private keys are 'exported' from blockchain.info

What is the process here? Can I actually import private keys and claim the balance? I do not have the wallet.dat files and I don't believe I can generate these without syncing the entire BTC blockchain in to the Win wallet, importing priv keys, then exporting .dat files?!

I'm hardly an expert but I emptied my bitcoinaddress and entered the private key on freebitcoins.com. Minutes later I received the equivalent of 4.6 CLAM as bitcoins into my other address. Then I used those bitcoins to buy CLAM again. If all else fails this may be the way to go.

You only received 3.5 CLAM worth of BTC if you used FreeBitcoins.

You get 3.5 CLAM

You don't need to sync the BTC blockchain. You can importprivkey in the Bitcoin client without even being online. Then quit it, and you'll have your private key in a wallet.dat suitable for importing. But if importing the private key into the CLAM client directly isn't working, I doubt the wallet.dat route will work either.

I'd recommend using a third party to claim it for you. The Just-Dice.com chat tab can do it - just type "/dig <address>" in there, where <address> is the Bitcoin address you want to claim.

Thanks for the relies and all the efforts to provide the updated bootstraps. I ended up being able to sync normally as it seems that I finally found a peer or two since my last post and it is now updated!

I am sure the bootstrap files will be quite useful for others though since finding online peers seems to be the major hurdle for most.

I fixed my seeder, so the CLAM client should be able to find its own peers now. It uses DNS:

Quote
$ nslookup clam.just-dice.com
Server:      127.0.0.1
Address:   127.0.0.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name:   clam.just-dice.com
Address: 52.41.9.64
Name:   clam.just-dice.com
Address: 31.204.128.80
Name:   clam.just-dice.com
Address: 67.205.153.62
Name:   clam.just-dice.com
Address: 74.82.244.100
Name:   clam.just-dice.com
Address: 213.239.208.169

The client looks up that host, and the results it gets back are CLAM peers.

My wallet shows that I am now staking my meager stash of around 200 clams that I claimed from various old keys. The client says it will take 6 days to complete the stake.

Does this mean I need to stay connected to a peer for the entire 6 days? If a peer drops off during this time does the staking process hang, start over again, or does the stake become forfeit? Peer connectivity seems to be the main sticking point with people getting into this coin right now.

It's saying you should stake on average once every 6 days. Staking is random. You could stake in the next minute, or it might take a month. But on average it'll take 6 days.

You can only stake if you're online. If you're offline half the time, it'll take twice as long on average.

If you use just-dice.com instead, you get the full amount credited to your account. There's no fee, other than a 0.001 CLAM withdrawal fee if you withdraw the CLAMs. But of course if you're digging 100 addresses you can withdraw the proceeds in a single transaction and only pay the withdrawal fee once.

I have some old imported addresses at blockchain.info that I can export the private keys from.

Is the conclusion of the past few posts that it will not work importing these into the Clam client but it will work using either FreeBitcoins or better still Just-Dice.com?

Stuck trying to sync the client.

Already downloaded and imported the bootstrap file and added the node list provided by Miner2525 above. This got me close but I am still 4 weeks behind with no connections.

Also added nodes at http://www.presstab.pw/phpexplorer/CLAM/nodes.php

Any suggestions or nodes that are always up?

I just updated my bootstrap post. Now it goes up to block 1629500 which was staked on Sat Aug  5 23:18:40 UTC 2017.

You can also download partial bootstrap files which contain 10,000 blocks each - so you can get just the blocks you're missing, pretty much.

See my original bootstrap post for details.

As for your node not finding peers, I just noticed my seeding node was down. I've rebooted it, so maybe try again now. It might "just work".

Finally, here are the top 10 nodes according to my seeder:

Quote
31.204.128.80:31174
74.207.230.61:31174
220.239.41.71:31174
98.18.252.73:31174
213.239.208.169:31174
67.205.153.62:31174
178.63.60.7:9025
72.48.98.106:31174
139.162.195.69:18333
170.130.28.186:31174

Stopped client. Grabbed all of the files I needed then used "cat" command to create one bootstrap.dat file. Put this in the ".clam" folder with my wallet.dat.

Restarted client, but it's not using the bootstrap.dat... just still loading slowly as normal... on a Linux system. Am I missing something?

Tickled shitless to read this <3

Welcome to the Clammunity and I'm happy that you found us.

If he dug with Just-Dice he would still only have 4.6 CLAMS or have gambled them because it's dangerous to give a degenerate "free" coins and not expect them to gamble.

If is a tough word.

No, it should work importing it into the CLAM client if you can get the client to sync the first 10k or so blocks. The last guy was having trouble with that it seems, so we recommended using a third party site, but using the client should work too.
