Why not XNM? It sounds better in my opinion, like "ex-nem"  . Though it's tougher to remember the abbreviation XNM that XEM..

Because XEM (or "eX-Economy-Movement") doesn't represent the idea of NEM, imo. NEM is a "New economy movement" and there is no key word "New" in XEM, but just, well,.. some "Economy Movement".

And in XNM we do have a word "New". Besides the combination of words "NM" sounds just like "NEM".

why to change the name, NEM is Ok for everyone.

it's not about changing the name. Currency codes start with X so we needed a different 3 letter code. BTC is XBT. We're still NEM but we'll be traded as XEM on exchanges that take these things more seriously. Kraken for example trades BTC as XBT.

have you got your stake on the nxt AE or linked to a bitcointalk username?

I have received a token by PM. But last time I checked (about 2 months ago) I was too late to claim my stake before the release and people told me that I had to wait until the release.

we've had this in development for almost a year; a super long time for any project like this. Its really quite frustrating to be told 'a few weeks'. In all likelihood, this will be another few months. Im really beginning to lose interest to be honest.
